Jake is sent to the small town to plan layoffs at the local factory. On his way there, he runs into car trouble and eventually ends up at the home of Emma and her daughter, who reluctantly help him. He begins to get to know the factory, the town, and its residents, and finds it increasingly difficult to proceed with the planned layoffs due to the consequences it would bring. At the same time, he starts to fall more and more for Emma, but she is in a relationship with the town's sheriff.
The film feels old, older than its release year of 1996. It doesn't hold a higher quality despite their hard work with sentimentality.
