When Megan was a child, she received a charity Christmas gift that included a notebook with a verse that inspired her to write. The verse was also signed by Wesley Hardin Johnson, the child who had donated the gift. As an adult, Megan has become a reporter, and now her boyfriend—who is also her colleague at the newspaper—has just broken up with her. To make matters worse, he also gets the position Megan had been hoping for. The newspaper’s editor urges her to find a strong article idea to prove herself. In her search for a good story, she comes up with the idea of tracking down Wesley, the one who once sent the charity gift.
Maybe there's nothing seriously wrong with the film, but it still doesn't feel fully cohesive. I find the overall execution lacks finesse.
