Jim and Lauren are both single parents—Jim with three daughters and Lauren with two sons. After a disastrously bad blind date, they assume they’ll never see each other again. By chance, however, they meet once more, and through yet another twist of fate, they both get the opportunity to take a luxury trip with their kids to Africa. It’s an incredible experience for the children, but Jim and Lauren are not looking forward to spending their vacation in each other's company at a resort tailored for couples. During their stay, however, they begin to gain new perspectives on each other and, through that, also on their children.
I don’t usually don't like this type of comedy, nor am I generally a fan of Adam Sandler or Drew Barrymore. But this movie surprised me. Amid all the cringeworthy stereotypical jokes, it still managed to capture my attention and be both entertaining and romantic.
