Amelia is a single mother to Ruby. They are the only members of their family, as Ruby was conceived through a donation. At school, they are given an assignment to create and present a family tree. Ruby doesn’t want to do it because she has no family beyond Amelia. However, when she learns that it’s possible to trace the donor (her father) through a DNA test, she pressures Amelia into agreeing to it. This leads them to connect with TJ, Ruby’s biological father. It becomes a challenge not only for TJ, who must suddenly come to terms with being a father, but also for Amelia, whose own father betrayed her deeply during her childhood.
Maybe a somewhat light-hearted approach to a serious subject, but if you're ready to embrace how everything is so relatively effortless and fits together perfectly, it’s a good romantic story filled with lots of feel-good moments.
