Tom is trying to succeed as a photographer but loses his home and is forced to drive a taxi illegally in New York. One day, Claire jumps into his car and tells him to just drive. She has just started to suspect that her husband is cheating on her and has also received news that her father has had a heart attack. Once she calms down a bit, she hires Tom to drive her across the country to her father in California. It becomes a long journey filled with lies, half-truths, and confrontations. Both Claire and Tom find reasons to reflect on their lives.
This is a romantic drama of the slightly more serious kind (but it stays within romantic movie bounds). It turns into a very good road movie and is well worth watching. Fun to note that the actors, Amber and Sam, have actually been married since 2007.
