Merry Birthday, Happy Christmas

Rating:

Plot

Sarah and Steve both have their birthdays on Christmas Day, which meant they missed out on traditional birthday celebrations. Over the years, they've made up for it by celebrating Christmas together in ways that also acknowledge their birthdays. Now grown up, Sarah works in marketing, and Steve has moved away to work as a veterinarian. However, this Christmas, Steve is moving back to town to take over a local practice and gets help from his friend Sarah. Will their friendship blossom into something more?

Short review

A real dud of a romantic film. A low-quality production with a flimsy plot interspersed with pointless segments featuring real people talking about the challenges of having a birthday at Christmas. Worst of all is Todd Thomas Anderson. In the first scene as an adult, when he calls Sarah, I thought he was hiding something serious because of his nervous laugh. It turns out this wasn’t part of the story but rather Todd’s normal laugh—a nervous chuckle he maintains throughout the entire film. Awful.
