Princess Charlotte is facing an arranged engagement to a prince from a neighbouring country. Before Christmas, however, she is persuaded by her childhood friend — the daughter of the royal court’s chef — to slip away. Her friend is travelling to the United States to take part in a baking competition and thinks Charlotte should join her. They manage to get away, but Charlotte doesn’t feel comfortable staying at the place her friend has arranged and instead ends up at an inn. The inn is run by a family, and it is Luke, the brother, who helps Charlotte find her way there. At the same time, Charlotte is being pursued by a persistent journalist in search of a scoop.
Here we go again — another princess from an unknown European kingdom. The odds are stacked against it, and it definitely doesn’t manage to rise above them. It fails to convince on any level.
