Alicia is in the middle of a successful career as a TV star and is about to sign on for a new season of the show she co-hosts with her boyfriend. She is then given a reason to return to her hometown, but before leaving she stops by a shop to buy a gift for her best friend’s daughter and is given a necklace with an hourglass as a bonus.
Back in her hometown, she runs into her first boyfriend, Connor, who has opened a café there. At the traditional Christmas ball, she encounters the elderly woman who gave her the necklace — and suddenly finds herself in an alternate reality where she never left town and Connor was the one who did. Will she be able to figure out why this has happened?
Fairy tales with magical elements are tricky by definition, and this one doesn’t quite manage to pull it off. It ends up feeling somewhat half-baked and thin, and they could have put more effort into getting the ending better.
