Stella is trying to make a name for herself as a hat designer. She sneaks into a hotel room to place one of her creations among the hats Rosalind is to wear at the upcoming derby, but she is caught by Christian, Rosalind’s son. However, he helps her slip away unnoticed, and Rosalind ends up choosing Stella’s hat. This means she gets to design all of Rosalind’s hats leading up to the derby. It also means she gets to know Christian and can help him with her knowledge of horses, as his horse is competing in the derby. However, Stella must fight to win over Rosalind’s current designer and her assistant.
The entire plot feels a bit silly with hat competitions and such. The film simply ends up being too lightweight.
