Barbara has retired and become involved in the city's Christmas celebrations, where she clashes with Kath, who has been in charge of the event for many years. Both, separately, try to set their children, Shane and Lauren respectively, up on dates through a dating app. By chance, Shane and Lauren match with each other and agree to pretend they are dating to get their mothers to stop trying to pair them up with someone. This delights Barbara and Kath until they, now truly at odds with each other, discover that their children are dating the other’s child. They immediately start trying to break them up, unaware that the relationship is only fake.
Maybe okay on some level, but the romance never gets a chance to shine behind the moms' somewhat silly "quarrels."
