Lucy’s son, Robbie, is completely obsessed with becoming a TV news anchor. His idol is Adam Kade, who presents the news on the local TV station. Robbie has arranged for his entire class to go on a field trip to the news studio. During the visit, he accidentally leaves his binder behind in the studio. The news producer wants Adam to return it and, at the same time, invite Robbie to spend a week at the station to learn more about how the news is made. Adam, meanwhile, is hoping to land a new and prestigious position in Chicago. However, his time with Robbie and Lucy gives him a new perspective on both his job and his life.
