Juniper works as an editor, and when her boyfriend once again falls short, she takes out her old chest of wishes she wrote as a child and compares them with where she is now. That same night, she wakes to find an eight-year-old version of herself, Junebug, who has come to help her. Naturally, she wonders who’s playing a prank on her, but she soon realizes that no one else can see the girl and reluctantly accepts that this is a younger version of herself. Junebug encourages her to start writing her children’s stories again, and around the same time, she meets Alex, an artist who has given up on the art world after a criticized exhibition. She wants him to illustrate her books.
When reading the plot, one might be a bit hesitant, but this film delivers a good and also romantic story. Mila Jones, who plays Junebug, her young alter ego, gives a very good performance that is entertaining.
