Organised and meticulous Maya works at a dog food company. At the same company works Patrick, the owner’s son – a careless playboy. Now, the company’s mascot, a dog, is to be driven from the East Coast to California as part of a marketing campaign. Patrick’s father sees this as an opportunity to find out whether his son is good for anything, and assigns him the task of driving the dog. When the dog’s usual caretaker finds out that Patrick is the one doing the driving, she backs out of accompanying him. Maya sees this as a chance to visit her parents for Christmas and agrees to take charge of the trip. A journey full of conflict is about to begin.
The film is more than ten years old, and it shows. Patrick is, admittedly, supposed to be unbearable, but is so to such an extent that it’s hard to see what Maya sees in him — or whether he actually changes at all when faced with conflict.
