By chance, Todd ends up becoming the manager of his friend Ryan. Several years later, Ryan is a major film star, but his reputation as a playboy is starting to jeopardise his career. To salvage the situation, Todd convinces him to take part in a reality show aimed at finding a woman for him to settle down with. Charlie lives in Boston, and her sister signs her up for the programme. Though hesitant, she agrees to take part and is soon drawn into the absurd spectacle. Ryan goes along with it and does what’s expected, but Todd finds it increasingly difficult to cope as he begins to fall for Charlie.
Despite being over 20 years old, this film still holds up well. They've managed to create a surprisingly neat ending, full of feel-good charm.
