Sir Cole is out hunting when he encounters an old woman in the woods. She gives him a quest to complete before Christmas Eve in order to become a true knight. Suddenly, he wakes up at a Christmas market in present-day Bracebridge, Ohio. There, he meets Brooke, a local schoolteacher. Later, in a confused state, he wanders into the road and she accidentally hits him with her car. After he’s discharged from the hospital, Brooke offers him a place to stay in her guesthouse, since he appears to have nowhere else to go. She helps him navigate the strange new world he’s found himself in — but what exactly is his quest?
Perhaps a fairly decent romantic film at heart, but it falls somewhat flat due to the overall concept. Yes, it’s meant to be a fairy tale, but it all feels a bit too polished — especially in how effortlessly he reacts to modern life.
