Emma works as an event planner, and when the New Year's event she had planned to take on falls through, she decides to accompany her father to Scotland. He wants to go there to trace the family's roots in a small village called Glenrothie. Upon arrival, Emma is struck by the fact that the village doesn't seem to celebrate Christmas. It turns out that the laird who owns the village is opposed to Christmas decorations. However, the villagers would love to see their village beat the neighboring one in the annual competition for Best Christmas Village. Before long, Emma finds herself drawn into the effort as the event planner — which means she has to deal with the laird and his son, Alex.
The fact that this film is set in Scotland is clearly a bonus, but it also delivers a good romantic story, even if it might not particularly stand out from the crowd.
