Sari is put in charge of the family café while her parents go on vacation. It’s important to her father that she doesn’t change anything, but when Sari and her sisters discover that the café is on the verge of bankruptcy, Sari takes the initiative to try to save it.
At the same time, Sari meets Gabe, who has just moved into the neighbourhood. The initial attraction quickly fades when she realises that he is opening a bakery right next door to their café. Competition becomes fierce, and they start playing small pranks on each other. A neighbourhood festival is also approaching, offering a chance to win a prize that could potentially save the café.
A romantic film that works, this time set in the Filipino neighbourhoods of an American city, which does feel a bit different. It skirts close to cliché in its portrayal of those communities, but as a romantic film it delivers.
