When Jake's brother, with whom he has not had much contact in recent years, suddenly dies, he is faced with the Jewish tradition that he must marry his brother's widow. In today's society, this is usually resolved by carrying out a tradition where the widow displaces the brother and they do not marry. But when Jake realizes that tradition calls for his to displace his brother while the widow, Leah, is faced with moving in with her controlling mother, they suddenly decide to enter into a platonic marriage.
A very well executed film that manages to be believable in a complicated world.
