Joe works at a bus garage when his mother passes away. His friends encourage him to take the opportunity to do something for himself now that he has inherited some money. In his spare time, he enjoys cooking and is trying to recreate his grandmother’s sauce recipe. On a sudden impulse, he decides to buy a restaurant space to renovate and open. His idea is to have grandmothers (nonnas) cook the food and for the restaurant to evoke a sense of family. His friends are skeptical, but he is determined and seeks out some women who can cook. In the midst of all this, he also runs into Olivia, whom he once took to a failed prom date.
A well-made and rather rich film that is very good. The romance takes a back seat, while the restaurant and its chefs are in the spotlight. But the film made it into this collection because it was so good.
