Billie Mac is a former film star whose career is long behind her. Her lawyer and her manager — both waiting for her eventual passing — are trying to prevent her from giving away her valuable possessions. Hope is in desperate need of a job after moving back to Los Angeles following an unsuccessful attempt at a singing career in Nashville. She lands a temporary job as Billie Mac’s home aide. There, she also meets Kenneth, Billie’s driver and general handyman. Hope and Kenneth soon find themselves caught in the ongoing conflict between Billie and her lawyer and manager, as Billie insists on living life on her own terms despite their efforts to control her decisions.
This film gives the phrase “amateur hour” a face. Everything from the script to the direction leaves a great deal to be desired.
