Luke has finally crowned his tennis career by winning a major tournament and announces his retirement. He returns home to his parents, only to discover that they are planning to sell the tennis facility where he first learned to play. Not only that — half of the facility has been converted into pickleball courts, run by Caroline, who is also fighting to save the club. Luke, who had imagined taking over the business himself, doesn’t want his parents to sell, but he’s also far from enthusiastic about the pickleball operation. It soon turns out that the only way to save the club is to win a major pickleball tournament, forcing Luke to learn the game — with Caroline as his teacher.
The film is fairly standard but doesn’t feel fully cohesive. I’m not sure whether it’s the pickleball aspect that feels a bit silly or the overall execution, but it doesn’t end up being more than a three.
