Gentry’s father was a well-known country singer who quit in the middle of his career. She once thought about writing song lyrics herself, but lost her nerve and now works as a waitress. Now she is being asked to come to the Grand Ole Opry for a tribute to her father. She is hesitant to take part, but during a visit, when she sits in the seat she used to sit in as a child, she is transported back to the time of her father’s final concert. She is soon joined by her best childhood friend, Will. He helps Gentry try to find out why her father inexplicably put down his guitar. Will they change history? And what will they discover about each other?
Another time-travel story — but this time it’s not as bad. As a romantic film it works well, and they tie everything together nicely. A bit unusual that they travel back to a time when I was already an adult… which perhaps says something about my age. And if you’re a country fan, the film seems packed with cameos.
