Newly divorced Celeste is facing a big change as her daughter is soon leaving for university. Her best friend thinks she needs to get out of the house more and, when she’s unable to help her friend John herself, she persuades Celeste to step in.
John is set to compete in a birdwatching competition and needs a partner — especially as he’ll be up against his ex-girlfriend and her new boyfriend. Despite knowing very little about birds, Celeste throws herself into the challenge with enthusiasm. She turns out to have quite a knack for it, and before long, John finds himself thinking about more than just beating his ex.
Romantic films with narrow themes — like birdwatching — often run the risk of feeling a bit silly. However, this one manages much better, delivering a solid romantic story. It's lifted especially by Rachel Boston as Celeste, who brings a warm and positive energy to the role.
