Plot

Sloan and Jake both work at the same department store doing window dressing. When the department store's window decorator quits, the possibility opens up that one of them can take over the prestigious job. They get the chance to decorate one shop window each with different designs until Christmas. Sloan has invested a long time to get that assignment and is very thorough in what she does. Jake, who is more "lucky go happy", designs at the last minute on a paper napkin. With their different styles, they end up in conflict, but the more they work together, the more they understand each other.

Short review

A rather sweet and pleasant romantic film. Sloan and Jake's mouth-butting becomes entertaining and the plot offers some revelations. The theme is: you are best as yourself.

A Christmas Kiss II

Plot

Jenna is Mia's assistant at a large publishing house. One day she gets stuck in the elevator with a man and when there is a mistletoe hanging from the ceiling, they exchange a kiss. However, it turns out that the man is Cooper, brother of Jenna's boss, co-owner of the publishing house and also a real playboy who is famous for his conquests. He has decided to get more involved in the company and starts doing everything to impress Jenna, who is trying to keep her cool.

Short review

No, a real crap movie. Cooper is a rough and ego centred piece of shit who still gets what he wants. The only way they could have saved this movie was if he had been forced to crawl in the dust and eat shit until he renounced his former life. But they don't.

A Christmas Treasure

Plot

Lou is about to leave the small town for New York to find time to write a novel. Before she leaves, however, she gets involved in the Christmas celebration. There she meets Kyle who has come to town to help his aunt at her diner so he is between jobs as a cook. He has his sights set on a chef's job in Chicago. The more they get to know each other, the more they have to think about whether their plans are worth re-evaluating.

Short review

A so-called "run of the mill" romantic movie. It's okay, but it also doesn't stand out in any way.

Always and Forever Christmas

Plot

Lucy has inherited her grandfather's year-round Christmas shop in Stowe. Now she is going there to sell off the stock in time for Christmas so that she can then sell the store and return to her career. Once there, she gets help from Randall, who works in the store, but also from Carol, who apparently her parents hired for the Christmas rush (before they went on vacation). She also gets to know Scott who owns the town's Diner.

Short review

A rather silly story that is dragged down by "Christmas magic" and the involvement of Santa's wife.

Beaus of Holly

Plot

Holly has planned a perfect Christmas mini holiday with her boyfriend friend, Phil, with lots of Christmas activities. She begins by proposing to him at the station when they arrive. However, she is shocked when he refuses as he has "unresolved questions about his previous girlfriend". Holly is now stranded at the station, sad and despondent. Then Jake arrives with the horse drawn carriage that Holly ordered as an activity. He convinces Holly to carry out the activities anyway, alone, in an attempt to make her happier. As Jake drags Holly along to the activities, she feels better and better when she also realizes that Phil was not so good compared to the Jake she is now getting to know.

Short review

Was going to give this a slightly lower rating but changed my mind. It turns out quite well as a romantic film and manages to avoid the worst clichés.

Boyfriends of Christmas Past

Plot

At work, Lauren is faced with the challenge of coming up with a good campaign for Christmas for a company that makes baking accessories. She has difficulty with inspiration but is supported by her best friend since many years, Nate. At night, she begins to be haunted by the ex. boyfriends that show her phobia of commitment. At the same time, the relationship with Nate becomes increasingly complicated.

A new take on the old Scrooge tale that may not have much depth but still works as a romantic film.

Chasing Waterfalls

Plot

Amy talks herself into the chance to go away and photograph waterfalls when the regular photographer of the newspaper is injured. She heads to Pinewood Lakes where she will look for a mythical waterfall that no one has photographed before. In the camp, she gets to know the guide Mark and his daughter Kyra. Amy suspects that Mark knows where the fabled waterfall is and tries to persuade him to show where.

Short review

A standard romantic movie with waterfalls and bears. It delivers what it should.

Christmas in My Heart

Plot

Violinist Beth works as a violin teacher. She auditions for a symphony orchestra but fails the test. She then goes to her father's house to celebrate Christmas for the first time without her mother, who recently passed away. There she is persuaded to give violin lessons and is hired by country star Sean to teach his daughter Katie.

Short review

A good romantic film with a friendly battle between classical music and country music.

Christmas Sail

Plot

Liz is called home to her father, Dennis, when he has injured his arm. Since Liz's mother died, he has become more withdrawn and doesn't want to celebrate Christmas anymore. When Liz discovers that her father is threatened with eviction due to old loans, she gets the idea to refurbish their old boat, which the father hasn't gotten around to selling, and participate in the annual boat light parade. This year, a large prize sum is offered to the winner. The light parade was mom's big thing and Dennis doesn't want to get involved. Instead, Liz is helped by her old childhood friend Luke, who still lives in town. Emotions are set in motion and more people than Dennis have to think about what life can bring.

Short review

The movie is better than average. The development of how the father thaws is good, while Luke has a hard time getting his courage up.

Christmas Wishes and Mistletoe Kisses

Plot

Abby works in a nursing home but is really passionate about interior architecture. Before Christmas, she is persuaded by one of the board members at the residence to take on an assignment to furnish a headquarters in a villa for a company of which her son, Nick, is the CEO. Abby takes on the task but to succeed she needs to understand what Nick likes but she has a hard time getting past Nick's assistant who is very sceptical to the fact that Abby got the assignment.

Short review

An average romantic film with no surprises but delivers what it is meant to.

Country Christmas Album

Plot

Country singer Tess's record company wants her to record a Christmas album. Not only that but they want her to do it with pop star Derek who used to be a member of a popular boy band. Tess's daughter who likes Derek is enthusiastic but Tess is hesitant. In fact, both Tess and Derek are sceptical about the project because they have completely different styles. The collaboration goes poorly, but as they get to know each other, things get better and Derek encourages Tess's song writing.

The film is OK, but it never gets really good.

Coyote Creek Christmas

Plot

Paige is a skilled event planner, but now she goes home for Christmas to her parents who run an Inn. She is horrified when she realizes that the parents have not planned the big Christmas celebration that they usually hold for the Inn's guests. She gets down to organizing it at short notice. At the same time, the Inn is visited by Dylan and his son Noah, who are about to celebrate Christmas at the Grand Canyon. What Paige doesn't know is that her parents plan to sell the Inn and that Dylan, who runs a hotel chain with his brother, is there to possibly buy it.

Short review

A good romantic film with just enough complications about the future of the place and, as usual, being able to trust people.

Finding You

Plot

When Finley doesn't pass the exam to enter music school, she decides to follow her brother's example and go to a small village in Ireland for the summer. For her brother, who is now dead, the stay gave a new perspective on life and now Finley wants to experience the same. She is well received by the same family that took care of her brother. They run an Inn in the village where it turns out that movie star Beckett is hiding out while he's shooting a new movie in the area. Beckett immediately takes a liking to Finley, who tries to keep his distance and focus on developing her violin playing.

Short review

The film is good, even if Beckett's role can be a little tiresome at times.

Gingerbread Miracle

Plot

Maya has moved back home and lives in an apartment above her parents' garage after quitting a large law firm. Now she freelances as a lawyer and has the café Casillias Panaderia, where she worked when she was young, as an office. When Luis, who runs the café, asks her to help him sell the place, she takes on the task. Before Christmas, Luis' nephew Alex comes home. He and Maya used to work together at the café. Now he is a lawyer at a large firm and insists on helping with the sale as well. There was a spark between Maya and Alex before but it never went anywhere. What will happen now?

A good romantic film with a little Tex-Mex gingerbread feeling.

Girlfriends Of Christmas Past

Plot

When Livvy gets serious with her boyfriend Anderson, he breaks up with her. She also suspects that he has been unfaithful and on a site where you out the ex. boyfriends, she gets in touch with two of his former girlfriends. They decide to take revenge on him. While they carry out various revenge actions, Livvy meets Carter, who is a colleague of Anderson. He hires Livvy to organize the office Christmas party and the girls see it as the perfect opportunity to get their revenge on Anderson properly. The only problem is that Carter will be in trouble if the party goes badly.

Short review

In some parts an infantile film but not entirely without points.

My Christmas Family Tree

Plot

Vanessa works as a social worker with foster home placements as she herself was a foster child. Her mother died when she was nine and she has never known who her father was. Now she gets answer from a DNA test with a match that says her father is a Richard Hendricks who lives an hour away by car. Cautiously, she makes contact with Richard and they meet. Richard invites her to his family's home for Christmas so she can meet her half-siblings and the rest of the family. She gets a ride there from Kris, who is the son of one of Richard's friends from the military. It will be a Christmas with many emotions and a budding friendship with Kris.

Short review

A real feel-good film about suddenly discovering, as a foster child, that you have a family and even finds love at the same time.

Next Stop, Christmas

Plot

As usual, surgeon Angie expects to spend Christmas on standby. She dozes off on the commute home and when she wakes up, she is back in her hometown ten years earlier. Now she gets the chance to do things differently and the right choice can also be her ticket home to the present. But should she accept Tyler whose proposal she turned down last time? And what can she do to keep her parents from getting divorced, something that makes her sad in the present? What is the real deal with her friend Ben? What will the present look like if she manages to get back?

Short review

Better than I thought. I'm a bit skeptical of the concept of going back in time and changing everything. But it works this time.

Open By Christmas

Plot

Best friends Nicky and Simone always celebrate Thanksgiving and Christmas together even though Nicky now lives in New York. Simone is about to remarry but struggles with her new boyfriend Jeremy and her son getting along so well that she is left out while having to contend with her new mother-in-law over Christmas. Meanwhile, Nicky, who never married, finds an old admirer's letter hidden in an old school book. The letter is anonymous but Nicky and Simone find themselves trying to find out who wrote it to Nicky all those years ago.

Short review

A sweet film with two parallel different developments next to each other. Simone's challenges her relationship with her son and her new mother-in-law while Nicky digs into who might have sent her the romantic letter 22 years earlier.

Royally Ever After

Plot

After teacher Sara and writer Danny have been together for a year, Danny proposes after asking Sara's parents for permission. Sara is happy and says yes. The only problem is that Danny, who has always been a bit secretive without a Facebook account and other public presence, now tells them that they have to go to his parents too. What Sara didn't know is that they are the king and queen of St. Ives and that Danny, whose real name is Daniel, is a real prince. Will Sara be accepted in the little kingdom?

Another small kingdom in Europe that I missed so far. It's probably only Americans who can believe in a movie like this.

Snowed In For Christmas

Plot

Kaley has been an aupair with the same family for a number of years. She is on her way home for Christmas but before then she is with the children while the parents fly to New York overnight for a company party. Meanwhile, Ethan, the brother of the family's father, shows up to celebrate Christmas with them. However, the parents get snowed in New York and Kayla realizes she can't leave the kids with Ethan and cancels her trip home to take care of the kids until the parents can get home. While taking care of the children, she also tries to get Ethan to stop working all the time and spend some time with his nephews.

Short review

Well, the movie is good, even if you wonder about the prolonged snowstorm over New York that blocks all flights and other transport for many, many days.

The Great Christmas Switch

Plot

Sophia lives in the city where she has a demanding job while living the single life. Her twin sister, Kaelynn, lives the suburban life with her two children and husband from whom she is separated. Both are quite tired of their situations and when Kaelynn's husband is going to take the children to Florida for Christmas, they decide to do what they did when they were younger, switch places. At first it goes well, but then the children's Christmas trip is canceled and they return home at the same time as Sophia meets a handsome fireman in the small suburb. Kaelynn struggles with Sophia's hopeless job and her odd roommate.

Short review

The film is a bit so-so at moments, but it's made up for by some priceless moments and good acting by Sara Lind, who plays the twins.

The Santa Stakeout

Plot

Tanya is a newly minted civilian police officer and clashes in the office with her more experienced colleague Ryan. When the city is hit by a series of art thefts, they are tasked with monitor a suspect. The house next door is rented and they get to live there while they watch. Soon they are drawn into neighborhood life while trying to uncover the thief.

Short review

No, they are trying to make a police mystery that is really amateurish, while the romance really only appears as an afterthought.

The Christmas Promise

Plot

Nicole is engaged and planning to marry her fiance when he suddenly dies just before Christmas. A year later, Nicole wants sell the house that they were renovating to move into. In order to sell it, however, she needs to fix it up. Through an acquaintance, she gets hold of a carpenter, Joe, who takes on the job. Grief gets really hard for Nicole the closer it gets to Christmas, when she suddenly starts messaging someone who accidentally got her dead ex-husband's number. The person on the other end has also experienced a loss and becomes a good support. At the same time, Joe proves to be both a good carpenter and a good friend.

It's a reasonably good romantic movie but too complicated to become believable.

You, Me and the Christmas Trees

Plot

Arborist Olivia isn't too keen on going to her parents' house for their well-polished Christmas celebration. When she is contacted by Jack, who runs a Christmas tree farm that is in crisis as the trees wither more or less immediately after they are cut, she immediately sets out to solve the mystery. While trying to solve the problem, she gets to know the nice little town and especially Jack which makes her even more reluctant to go home.

A Christmas tree mystery that holds up as a romantic film but may not belong to the more credible films.

A Christmas Together With You

Plot

Megan works in a café where she has got to know Frank. She was supposed to get married at Christmas but her boyfriend of many years broke up with her last summer and now she has no desire to celebrate Christmas as it only reminds her of her broken relationship. When Frank finds an old photo of his first love, Claire, Megan gets the idea that they should go and find her to take her mind off Christmas. Off they go and they soon pull into a small hotel in search of Claire. The hotel is owned by Steve and he and Megan help each other with various chores.

Short review

A half-decent romantic film that might not be all that engaging. As usual, people can't seem to speak their minds, dragging out the suspense unnecessarily.

A Castle For Christmas

Plot

Sophie has found herself in controversy about the ending of her latest novel. To escape the publicity, she goes to Scotland and the small town of Dunbar from where her father emigrated. There she plans to start on her next book. Once there, she visits the castle, to seek out a carving her father claimed to have made there when his family worked on the castle grounds. Once there, she realizes that the castle is for sale as the current duke, Myles, cannot afford to keep the castle. As she gets along so well with the villagers of Dunbar and has always dreamed of the castle, she decides to buy it. Myles, who really doesn't want to sell, especially not to an American who he thinks is troublesome, writes a sales contract in which he is entitled to the down payment if Sophie changes her mind about living there. He then invites her to stay there for a while before the castle goes into her possession, hoping to scare her away so he can keep the down payment. However, things don't go as planned…

A good and rather funny romantic film set in the best Scottish environment.

A Kiss Before Christmas

Plot

Ethan met Joyce when they were stuck in an elevator together and now they are married and have two foster children. Ethan has not climbed the career ladder as he is constantly too conscientious. Now he finally gets the chance to advance via a colleague, but he has to be tough to succeed. In the midst of this, he meets Santa who accepts his wish that he made better choices in life. Suddenly he wakes up in a parallel existence where he has made the hard choices and is now the CEO but also unmarried without the children. What does he need to do to get back to the way it was?

Short review

The movie was better than I thought. It might be more about finding what's important in life than finding romance, so it might really fit into the list, but the film holds up.

A Snowy Christmas

Plot

Kelly comes home for Christmas to find that the Inn her father built is in dire need of repairs. Suddenly a builder appears and offers to take on the task. But now they get an offer to sell the property, something that is hard to say no to as the situation is. The only problem is that they that want to buy only wants the land and intend to demolish the property.

Short review

A bad production with crappy acting. You can see what they tried to do but they don't succeed at any point.

An Unexpected Christmas

Plot

Marketing expert Emily gets an exciting assignment that could lead to a promotion. The problem is that it is in her ex. boyfriend, Jamie's, hometown. Not only that, but she arrives there on the same train as Jamie and it turns out that he hasn't told his family that they've broken up. She is drawn in by the family and Jamie manages to convince her to play along so as not to disappoint his family. Various circumstances cause the charade to continue and Emily is forced to stay during the week and she and Jamie are forced to do things together despite the circumstances.

Short review

I am fundamentally skeptical of films where they have apparently ended their previous relationship on dubious grounds. But the acting in this one is good and it wins mainly due to good acting by the lead roles.

August Creek

Plot

When Erica's husband died in the military, she moved to Chicago to get away. Now, three years later, she returns home with her new boyfriend, Marc, to be a bridesmaid for her sister who is getting married. The sister and her fiancé have different opinions about how the wedding should be and Erica and her old friend Nate, who is to be the best man, must work together to resolve this. In the midst of this, Erica is confronted by her feelings of grief for her dead husband and unresolved issues with her friend Nate.

Short review

A slightly more serious film about sadness and unresolved problems. It turns out really well with good acting and how you slowly get to know the background.

Christmas Perfection

Since childhood, Darcy has dreamed of a perfect Christmas, which she visualizes through a small tableau of porcelain houses representing a perfect little Irish village. But every Christmas doesn't go as she planned with her divorced parents and friend Brandon who likes change and spontaneity. One morning she wakes up in the small Irish village to a perfect Christmas with dream boyfriend and everything. But is the Christmas she visualized really so perfect?

A so-so film about what you dream of may not be what you really want.

Christmas at Castle Hart

Plot

When Brooke and her sister, Margot, lose their jobs as waitresses at an event planning company, they decide to go to Ireland to search for their father's roots. Once there, they meet Aiden who is Lord of the local castle Hart. Margot says in an unguarded moment that they are event planners and Aiden immediately recruits them for a big event to be held at the castle. Brooke is forced to pretend to be her ex. employer and arrange the event to save the castle's reputation.

A good romantic film that delivers Irish atmosphere and a really feel-good ending.

Christmas in Tahoe

Plot

Claire wants the chance to become an event booker at a big hotel in Las Vegas, and now she gets the chance to show off what she can do by putting on a Christmas show at her family's hotel in Tahoe. Shortly before, however, the main attraction of the show falls ill. Meanwhile, Claire meets her old boyfriend, Ryan, whose band she was the manager of before they became super famous. Ryan broke up with her at the same time she was fired from the band. But now Ryan may be the only one who can save the show.

Short review

The movie is okay but it teeters on the edge of "you, girl, you shouldn't go off and do any of your dreams" over it, even though she says she chooses her own path at the end.

Christmas in the Rockies

Plot

Katie is about to leave her hometown for an office job in New York. Just as she is about to leave, her father is injured in an accident. Katie stays behind to help out at her father's lumber company. She also realizes that the father has problems in the company and is considering selling. To save the situation, Katie enters a lumberjack competition that has a prize that can save the company. At the same time, she gets to know Harrison as the paramedic who was in the ambulance when dad got hurt.

Short review

A good movie, romantically speaking. Uplifting with a girl who competes with a chainsaw in hand.

Five More Minutes

Plot

Clara, who works as a teacher in Chicago, goes home to help her mother with her grandfather's Christmas shopping. It's the first Christmas without Grandpa and Clara misses him a lot. Back home, she runs into Logan who she was dating but when he enlisted they broke up. Clara finds her grandfather's old diary and begins researching a former girlfriend of his that she didn't know about. At the same time as she is looking for her grandfather's old love that he seems to have lost in connection with his deployment to the Korean War, she gets reason to think about her relationship with Logan.

Short review

A good romantic film which is not forced through and really feel-good. Some might think it gets a bit sugary at the end but I was a bit pleasantly surprised.

Just in Time for Christmas

Plot

Lindsay is invited to a nice dinner by her boyfriend, Jason. On the way there, she is contacted and offered a dream job with a professorship at Yale and the chance to publish her book. During dinner Jason proposes to Lindsey but her new job offer gets in the way and she says no as he doesn't accept her going to Yale. Despaired, she goes out into a park where she meets a mysterious man driving a Christmas carriage with a horse. The next morning, Lindsey wakes up and it's three years later. She gets to experience what life was like without Jason.

Short review

This movie teeters on the edge of OK. One wonders why the ass (Jason) immediately can't be happy that Lindsay is getting the chance of a lifetime.

Love Strikes Twice

Plot

Maggie is a good lawyer and it now looks like she has the chance to become a partner at the firm. At the office, she also meets Rick, who she was with in High School, which makes her think back on her choices. Her current marriage to Josh is falling apart and when she passes a wishing fountain, she wishes she had the chance to start over. The next morning she wakes up and is back in High School and now gets the chance to make other choices. But she also retains her skills as a 37-year-old lawyer, something that also provides new opportunities.

A really good romantic movie with a lot of funny twists.

Making Spirits Bright

Plot

Grace is an interior designer together with her schoolmate from collage. But now she is going home to her family over Christmas. Her father runs a company that makes Christmas decorations for houses before Christmas. So does his former friend, but since they became enemies, they are the worst competitors. Grace gets involved in the business and at the same time runs into Tony who is the son of the rival family. As usual, a Christmas decorating competition is held and this year a cash prize is also awarded. Both families attend, of course, and Grace and Tony do what they can to make the fathers forget their feud.

Short review

A relatively average romantic film that delivers what it should.

Nantucket Noel

Plot

Christina runs a toy shop out on the city's pier. Now she hears a rumor that a developer has bought the pier to rebuild the entire harbor area and she is threatened with being evicted with the business her mother started. Soon she also runs into Wink and her father Andy who is visiting Andy's father who has recently moved to town. Christina finds Andy attractive and Wink nice, but the whole thing gets complicated when she realizes that Andy's father is the developer who bought the pier.

Short review

A somewhat clumsily executed film that doesn't get any better because Christina doesn't get to win (despite the fact that everything works out in the end).

Waiting For Forever

Plot

Since Will's parents died in a car crash, he has been drifting through a dull existence without a job. His only passion is Emma with whom he was a neighbor in his youth. When Emma returns home to take care of her terminally ill father, Will gets the chance to reconnect with her.

Short review

Maybe a well done movie. But annoying that the main character is an irresponsible failure with creepy stalker behavior and still gets the girl in the end. One wonders what kind of life they will get as a street performer and an actress who hasn't made it big.

Walking The Dog

Plot

Kristie pursues a case against the municipality to get a new bike lane in place. The town's new attorney, Keith, has just arrived in town and will be Kristie's opponent in the courtroom. Kristie's boyfriend Bill, who is a veterinarian, has a foster dog at the clinic that Kristie takes care of for a few weeks. The dog has a knack for finding Keith's dog out on the promenades and even though they are adversaries in court, Kristie and Keith become better and better friends.

A good romantic film about two lawyers who find each other in the courtroom (and outside).

Wedding Bells

Plot

Molly and Nick's best friends, Amy and James, have once tried to hook them up without much luck as neither of them is open to dating. Now Amy and James are getting married and Molly is going to be "maid of honor" while Nick is going to be best man. The problem, however, is that Amy's parents, who were supposed to pay for the wedding, are being cheated out of all their money. Now Molly and Nick take it upon themselves to fix the wedding anyway. Nick's father has an Inn that can work and Molly is a seasoned organizer.

A really sweet romantic film with a high feel-good level.

Wedding Every Weekend

Plot

Brooke, who is a physiotherapist, and Nate, who restores classic cars, bump into each other a few times, e.g. at a wedding when they realize they are going to the same four weddings in a row. They decide to become 'wedding buddies' to avoid being hit upon by other singles.

A good romantic movie that holds up in my opinion.

Wedding Planner Mystery

Plot

Carnegie works with arranging weddings. Now she will perform two weddings in two weeks within the same family. At the first wedding, a death occurs and Carnegie is drawn into the tours. She also runs into a stubborn and annoying sensational journalist.

Short review

A rather tiring story with a narrator (Carnegies) and not a very good plot.

What An Idiot

Plot

When the new boss, Jackie, starts at Nick's job to get the office in order, Nick immediately falls for her. In his clever attempt to ask her out on a date, he happens to say that he is gay. This opens up the possibility of spending time with Jackie but also closes the possibility of starting something romantic with her. Nick and Jackie become better and better friends but what will happen when the truth comes out that Nick is not gay?

Didn't have high expectations for this one, but it turned out to be quite funny without being too clumsy.

When in Rome

Plot

Beth is dumped by her ex-boyfriend for prioritizing work but soon discovers that he is now engaged to another career woman. Suddenly her sister comes home and tells her that she is going to marry an Italian she has known for two weeks. At the wedding in Rome, Beth gets frustrated and a bit tipsy, so she steps out into a wishing fountain and picks up coins from it. When she returns home, she begins to be pursued by men who are hopelessly in love with her. It turns out that when you take a coin out of the fountain, you also take with you the love of the person who threw the coin in. How will Beth break the spell and what about Nick that she is actually interested in?

Not a very good film that becomes infantile at times even if it has its funny moments.

Where The Heart Is

Plot

Seventeen-year-old and heavily pregnant Novalee is dropped off by her boyfriend at the Walmart in Sequoyah, Oklahoma. Without money or other belongings, she lives secretly inside the department store for several weeks. After six weeks, she gives birth to her daughter, Americus, inside the department store. She is taken care of by a disparate group of people in the town and tries to build her life there.

The emphasis in this film is not on romance although it is there as a component but the focus is more on how Novalee copes through her and others' difficulties. A good movie.

Wimbledon

Peter is at the end of his tennis career and announces that after Wimbledon, which he entered as a "wild card", he will retire as a tennis professional. He never reached higher than 11th in the world rankings. At the hotel he meets Lizzie who is an American tennis pro who is there for the competition. She challenges Peter and ignites a new flame in him. Suddenly Peter starts to win.

A very good romantic movie. A bit unexpected from me considering the tennis theme, but it also comes from the same source as Notting Hill Gate and Bridget Jone's Diary.

Win A Date With Tad Hamilton!

Rosalee and Pete work at the supermarket and have been friends for a long time. Suddenly Rosalee wins a date with movie star Tad who needs positive publicity. The date goes better than expected to Pete's frustration as he has long loved Rosalee.

A reasonably good romantic film that is quite funny in parts.

Winter Castle

Jenny's sister Meg is getting married and has chosen to do so at an ice hotel in Canada. Meg speaks warmly of Craig, who is to be best man and is a widower with a son. Jenny is a bit surprised by this but is disappointed when he comes to the wedding with company. Despite this, can something develop between Jenny and Craig?

A film completely focused on feel-good with a positive attitude. For those who want chewing resistance, this is not the right film.

Winter in Vail

Plot

When Chelsea inherits her uncle's house in Vail, Colorado, she quits her event planning job and goes there to see if life there has anything more to offer. Once there, she realizes that the house was about to be restored, something that was interrupted when her uncle died. She hires Owen to finish the job he started for her uncle. She also starts getting involved with Owen's dad's restaurant which is going a little rough and comes to a festival to bring a little more life to the town.

Heather is responsible for managing a large shopping mall and is tasked by the owners with evicting the tenants who aren’t turning a sufficient profit. It’s a duty she feels uncomfortable with, but the pressure is high. At the same time, she meets Ryan in the mall. He’s there helping his aunt, who runs a gift shop in the centre. He becomes smitten with Heather and tries to ask her out on a date. She reluctantly agrees to go, and is a bit surprised when the date turns out better than she’d expected. Ryan continues to court her, but at the same time she realises that his aunt’s shop is one of the ones she is supposed to evict from the mall.

Could have been something with another crew but this one doesn't work. Especially Brendan Fehr as Ryan feels very stiff.

Write Before Christmas

Jessica, who runs a music store, gets dumped a few weeks before Christmas. She has five Christmas cards left over that she intended to send to her boyfriend. Instead, she sends them to five different people who have meant a lot in her life. The cards will affect these people in different ways. Through one of them, she happens to meet Luke, who is a photographer.

A very good romantic film, especially in the ways that the various Christmas cards will play a role throughout the film.

Yes, I Do

Twice Charlotte leaves James at the altar because she is so nervous about the wedding. Now she really wants it to do it can James bear to go through it again? Meanwhile, James' former girlfriend appears in the mix. Will Charlotte succeed in convincing James to make another wedding attempt and will she be able to go through with it this time?

Was a bit skeptical about this one but became pleasantly surprised. Charlotte's phobia about getting married is actually quite funny.

You Had Me at Aloha

Plot

Paige and Ben have both previously worked as presenters at the TV company but for various reasons stopped. When a new travel series is to be produced, the TV company, after seeing an audition with Ben, where Paige (who is a producer these days) was also involved, wants them to be presenters together in the new series. Both are very reluctant as they are each other's opposites and do not get along.

Short review

The film is what you would expect from a romantic film. Romance and a message about letting go of the safe and dare (to be unemployed with an insecure existence 😉 )

You May Kiss The Bridesmaid

Plot

Scarlett has a successful pastry chef/dessert blog and suddenly receives an offer from one of New York's best restaurants to, possibly, become their dessert chef. Before the deal is settled, Scarlett has to go home to be the maid of honor at her sister's wedding. When she gets home, it turns out that the place where the wedding was supposed to be has been flooded and everything is ruined. In a desperate search for a new place to have the wedding, they start thinking about their parents' Inn. The parents have just sold it and they need to come to an agreement with the Inn's new owner. It turns out to be Liam who Scarlett had an affair with when she was 16. Scarlett must now work with him to save the wedding.

As such a decently good romantic film but it is still a bit thin.

Love On Ice

Plot

Emily James ended her skating career early. Now, eight years later, she train youths while also working in a café. One of her students, Nikki, is a promising ice skating star and her mother brings in a coach, Dave, to prepare Nikki for the district championships. As Nikki's mother is quite troublesome, Dave takes help from Emily in the training. Dave then points out that even though it was eight years ago, Emily still has the champion style and tries to get her to compete in the championships as well.

Short review

A good story even if the romance may take a bit of a back seat to the skating events.

Love on the Air

Plot

Sonia has a radio show where she gives advice to listeners and so does Nick in his 'Man cave' show. However, their advice is diametrically opposed and once they meet, they quickly disagree with each other. This is noticed by the radio channel, which thinks it makes good radio out of the whole thing and puts them on the same morning program. Slowly, however, the backgrounds of their advice begin to creep in and perhaps they are not as different as they think.

The film is good although I think it sometimes teeters on the line of being chauvinistic.

Mrs.Miracle

Plot

Seth is the father of two sons, twins. His wife died in an accident a number of years ago and now he is trying to cope with the role of being a father at the same time as doing his job. The problem is that the twins are quite active and one nanny after another gives up and quits. Appears Mrs. Merkle and takes the role of nanny. Suddenly lots of positive things start happening. Reba, who owns a travel agency, is persuaded by her friend to direct the Christmas play at school through which she meets Seth and the twins.

A good romantic movie with mrs. Merkel (Mrs Miracle) as the elderly lady who, through small events, makes the romance blossom. We can also see her in "Call Me Mrs. Miracle"

Once Upon a Prince

Plot

When Susanna's car gets a puncture, she gets help from Nate. Nate reappears in Susanna's family's garden store where she works. He wants her to put her training as a landscape architect to use with Mrs. Waller whom he is visiting. The romance blossoms, but little does Susanna know that Nate is in fact a prince on the way to becoming king in a small European country where tradition dictates that the king should marry aristocratically.

Short review

Another movie with a prince from an unknown small country in Europe (where are all these countries located?). Perhaps somewhat better than several of the other films on the same theme but still…

Random Acts of Christmas

Lauren works her way up as a freelance journalist but hopes for permanent employment as she is single with her son. Suddenly, "Secret Santa" starts organizing lots of good deeds out in the town and the newspaper wants to know who is behind it and if she succeeds in finding out, there is a chance to get the permanent position. Lauren goes on a quest to find out the truth. In her hunt, she runs into Colin who pretends to be a freelance journalist as well. They join forces to succeed in the mission. But is Colin really a journalist?

A good romantic Christmas movie. The story works with a lot of feel good.

Return to Christmas Creek

When Amelia's boyfriend breaks up and her investors say no to her latest app idea because it doesn't have the right Christmas feel, she needs to get away and reflect on things. She decides to visit her uncle who she was close to during childhood but with whom she lost contact when he and her father became enemies and her family moved out of town. Again there she also meets Mike who she was friends with as a child.

Short review

A good romantic film about finding the cause of the uncle and father's feud and at the same time finding love. The film gets extra plus points from me because there are real airplanes in it.

Rocky Mountain Christmas

After Sarah's relationship with a techmogul receives press attention, she seeks refuge on the farm where she grew up with her brother and their aunt with her husband after their parents died. After the aunt's death, the farm is running poorly, even though the brother is there and tries to help. Film star Graham also comes there, and wants to learn about farm life for a film role he is going to play.

It delivers as a romantic film even if it doesn't stand out in any way.

Sister of the Bride

Stephanie and Ben get engaged just before they go home to celebrate the 4th of July with Stephanie's parents and her sister, Tracy. Once there, it turns out that Tracy is engaged to Dave, whom she has been with for many years, and that they are planning to get married on the 4th of July. Stephanie and Ben commit to helping out before Tracy's wedding, while enduring a lot of teasing, mainly from Stephanie's father, who thinks that Stephanie and Ben got engaged way too quickly (already after six months).

A romantic film with a lot of feel-good and an ending where everything works out for the best. Should maybe not be in the list as they are together from the beginning. But it slunk in any way.

Staging Christmas

Lori is a stylist who fixes up homes for sale. Her specialty is giving homes a real Christmas feeling in the months before Christmas. Everett, a widower, has recently moved with his daughter, Maddie, to a new home. Maddie wishes they could have a real Christmas like they had before her mother died. She remembers how the house looked when they were looking at it before the purchase and wishes it could look like it did then. Everett seeks out Lori, who fixed it up for the sale, to ask her to recreate the Christmas spirit created earlier.

A decent romantic film, even if it might not be that great.

Sweet Surrender

Plot

Tom signed up after Chelsea broke up with him. Now he is back from Afghanistan and is considering a career as a body guard. When his grandmother falls ill, he goes back to his hometown to look after her and the bed and breakfast she runs, Cupid. Once there, he realizes that the B&B is threatened by a tax debt and that a company is looking to buy it. He is also under pressure to sell from Chelsea who is now mayor of the city. However, he receives unexpected help from Nancy, who is a police officer in the town.

A good romantic movie that may not be great but it gets a good rating mainly because he doesn't get together with his youth crush for once.

Switched for Christmas

Plot

Twin sisters Kate and Chris live two very different lives. Kate is a project manager at a large construction company and has invested in her career and a flashy big city life. Chris is a single mother with two children in the small town where she is also a school teacher. Before Christmas, their father brings them together for lunch where they jealously observe each other's lives. The idea is born that they should do as they did when they were small and switch places with each other to feel how the other is doing.

Short review

They have managed to pull this story together well. Candace Cameron Bure plays the two twins without it being evident that they are actually one and the same actor.

Beautiful Beast

Plot

Isabelle lives a life of luxury on money she inherited from her parents who died when she was little. She has a really privileged attitude to life and sees everything as something that should serve her. On a whim, she goes with her friend to the Alps in Switzerland to go skiing. They have a conflict and Isabelle goes out on foot in the snow and gets lost. In the end, she ends up in an isolated cabin out in the wilderness where Jeremy lives a sort of hermit life. Injured as she is, she will have to stay there until she recovers. Jeremy is not impressed by Isabelle's rude attitude.

Short review

I don't really understand the connection to Beauty and the Beast (which is constantly mentioned in the description of this film) but they still managed to pull together a pretty good romantic film. Possibly, one might think that Isabelle is a bit over the top as a brat.

The Christmas Club

Plot

Olivia is a single mother to Maeryn and a dance teacher at a dance studio. When she is out shopping, an old lady loses her Christmas gift money and Olivia and a man, Edward, decide together to help the old lady. This leads to Olivia getting to know Edward, who are in town to visit his sister and her family but also to do some work. He helps new companies start up. Soon Olivia learns that the dance studio where she works is to be closed down.

A good romantic film that is full of feel-good while not being overly dramatic.

The Memory Book

Plot

Chloe tries to break through as a photographer. At a flea market, she finds a photo album with lots of photos of an apparently happy couple from the early 70s. As she has a hard time believing in true love after her own experiences, she becomes obsessed with finding the couple in the pictures to try to prove to herself that love exists. Soon, even the somewhat irritating bartender, Gabe, gets involved in the search.

Short review

The film fuses an old romance with a new one in a good way. Luke Macfarelane is his usual, slightly cocky and superior self, but it didn't bother me as much as usual.

The Nine Lives of Christmas

Plot

Firefighter Zachary finds a stray cat that begins to follow him. When he realizes that the cat's owner has died, he takes care of it until he can find a new home for it. When he is out to buy cat food, he meets Marylee, who is studying to become a veterinarian. Their paths cross several times as Marylee first loses her job (due to Zachary's girlfriend) and then her home. Zachary offers her to live in the house he is renovating to sell.

Short review

The film is a good romantic film with no surprises, except that it features cats as the unifying animal, rather the more common dogs. There is actually a sequel to this film called The Nine Kittens of Christmas (which implies there isn't a "happily ever after" in this one after all).

The Pill

Plot

The film starts with Mindy and Fred ending up in bed together and during the night they have unprotected sex. In the morning, Fred suffers from anxiety and persuades Mindy to get the next day pills to avoid getting pregnant. However, it turns out that there are two pills to be taken 12 hours apart and to make sure that Mindy takes the second pill, Fred spends the day with her. It will be an eventful day and Fred gets to know who Mindy really is, while he has some of his own problems to figure out.

Maybe not a perfect romantic film, but it's different.

The Road Home for Christmas

Plot

Lindsey and Wes perform as dueling pianists which is not that difficult as they are really different and don't really get along. When their Christmas gig is cancelled, they suddenly have time to go home for Christmas. They are somewhat surprised when it turns out that "home" happens to be in the neighboring towns. When all the plane tickets are sold out, Lindsey is forced to agree to drive home with Wes. The journey home turns out to be eventful and they get to know new sides of each other.

Short review

A good romantic film although it would have benefited if Lindsey had gotten a clearer revenge.

The Vows We Keep

Plot

Hazel works as an event planner for a boss who doesn't really see her as the competent resource that she is. Now her sister is getting married and her company is to plan the event at the same time as she is to be a bridesmaid. The wedding will be held at the Rosewood Inn. When it turns out that it is to be sold, the wedding is forced to be moved forward. Hazel is assigned to fix the place's events until the sale and then gets to know Jared, who is there to help with the sale.

Short review

A half-decent romantic, but it doesn't really take off as a romantic movie. But Hazel gets her revenge professionally though.

Three Weeks, Three Kids

Plot

Jennifer lives a carefree and untethered life. Her sister, Mandy, on the other hand, married early and lives a settled family life with three children. Mandy and her husband Brian finally decide to go on a belated honeymoon to Europe. At the last moment, however, their parents, who were supposed to be watching Mandy's children, call and tell them that they cannot come. Jennifer then offers to jump in until the parents can arrive. Mandy is very hesitant but is persuaded to go anyway. Jennifer soon realizes that the mission is going to be tougher than expected, especially since the parents still can't come. However, she gets some help from Mandy's new neighbor, Will.

Short review

A good film that is more about Jennifer's challenge of taking care of home and children and how it makes her reevaluate her choices. The romance is there but plays a secondary role.

The Perfect Date

Plot

Brooks has his sights set on a better life through a more prestigious university, but to succeed in that he needs, among other things, earn lots of money to afford it. When he hears that Celia's parents are paying for someone to be her date, he volonteers. The idea is born to, through an app, offer to be the perfect date for whoever needs one. Business is going well while he also gets to know the confident and tough Celia better. However, Brooks gets reason to think about his life goals

A good romantic movie about that maybe surface isn't everything in life.

Truly, Madly, Sweetly

Plot

Natalie has a food truck where she bakes and sells muffins. The dream is to start a bakery but she can't afford it. Suddenly, she finds out that she and a man she accidentally spills coffee on, Eric, have inherited a property with a bakery on it from Eric's aunt (whom Natalie also knew as a youngster). Eric's first thought is to sell the property, but that turns out to be difficult as it is listed as a cultural monument. When Eric then loses his job, he realizes that the only option is perhaps to start a bakery with Natalie on the premises.

A muffin film for the romantically inclined. The film maintains a good quality as a romantic film.

The Wish List

Plot

After a number of failed dates, Sarah compiles a list of qualities that a perfect boyfriend must fulfill. Soon she meets Erik, a doctor who checks off all her requirements on the list and she dares to start a relationship with him. Meanwhile a new barista starts at her favorite cafe who is very annoying and forces changes on her that she doesn't like.

A romantic film about how the perfect may not be as perfect as you think. And it delivers a good story.

Then Came You

Lord Howard converted his Scottish family estate into a country inn. Annabelle tours half the world with her husband's ashes, visiting a long list of places from their favorite movies. She checks into Howards inn and turns his (end hers) life upside down.

Well made, cozy and fun. A good romantic film quite simply.

This Little Love of Mine

Plot

Laura is about to become a partner in the law firm she works for. The company is contacted by Mr. Baily, a CEO who has an important mission that he wants Laura to handle. The mission consists of going back to the Caribbean island she grew up on and persuading her childhood friend Chip, who is Mr. Bailey's grandson, to sign a contract to take over as CEO of the group. How hard can it be?

A good romantic film in the Caribbean. It left me with a good feeling.

Sarah receives an invitation to spend Christmas at an Inn, which she believes comes from her job. Once there, she begins to realize that this is not the case and that other guests have also received a similar invitation from someone unknown. She gets help from the Inn's new owner to try to find out where the invitation is coming from.

Tyler also seems to have a second motive for coming to Provincetown…

'Tis the Season for Love

Beth struggles to succeed as an actor in New York. She is out of work over Christmas and her roommate gives her an early Christmas present in the form of a ticket home over Christmas. How will she manage to face her hometown after so many years without having succeeded. How does she manage to meet Barry who she left back home years ago? Will Dean, another schoolmate who is now a fire chief, help her find what to do with the rest of her life?

A good romantic film, again about finding where you belong (according to the screenwriter anyway).

Together Forever Tea

Marketing expert Lara goes off to handle the estate of her aunt who ran a tea business. On the spot, she realizes that she Together with Matt, who runs the town's plant school, has been given the task of selling the aunt's house and tea shop for the benefit of the area's bird society. At the same time, she takes on the challenge of winning this year's big Tea prize in her aunt's name.

To get attention from the company's hot guy, Brian, Tori also starts dressing more girly. But is this Tori really Tori? And what does everyone else around her think, including her best friend Adam?

An okay romantic film about an important theme, but it is sloppy in parts.

Too Close For Christmas

Hayley will be celebrating Christmas with her stepsister, Amy, her husband, Tim, and her mother-in-law, Judy. Unfortunately, Tim's brother Paul also shows up. Amy blames Paul for the breakup of her previous relationship.

A pretty bad romantic movie. Jessica Lowndes playing Hayley is OK but Chad Murray's role as Paul is pathetic. He is a really rude bully type that no sane person would like.

Trading Christmas

Plot

Emily's daughter, Heather, avoids going home for Christmas in favour of celebrating with her boyfriend in Arizona. Heather doesn't know this, but Emily decides to surprise her daughter by coming to her in Boston over Christmas. At the same time, Charles, who lives in Boston, has writers block and needs a change of scenery. They get in touch on the internet and decide to switch places over Christmas. Once in Boston, Emily discovers that her daughter has gone away and she is also surprised by Charles' brother, Ray, who thinks she broke into Charles' apartment. Meanwhile, Faith, Emily's best friend, has decided to surprise Emily, who she thinks is celebrating Christmas alone at home, by visiting her. Faith, of course, finds Charles there to her surprise.

Short review

Despite double stories (or maybe even three), this film works well. A lot about opening up to new thinking.

True Love Blooms

Vicki runs a local garden for the neighborhood, a task she inherited from her father. Now the garden is threatened by development led by Chase, who will build homes on the land. Vicki runs a campaign to save their garden.

A decent romantic film that is especially lifted by Sara Rue who plays Vicki as a driven and euntastic force.

Tulips in Spring

Plot

Rose has an important project going on at her job as an interior designer, but when she hears that dad hurt his leg in the middle of the tulip harvest back home, she goes home to help. Even though the relationship with her father is a bit strained. Once there, she realizes that the farm is in a really bad situation. In an attempt to save it, they enter a tulip that her father grew in an important tulip competition. Rose also gets help from the farm's new florist, Tom, who has started working for her parents.

A fairly standard tulip-themed romantic film.

Twinkle All the Way

Candence and Henry are single parents of a daughter each. They are paired in preparation for this year's Christmas play while Candance, who works as a wedding fixer, plans a wedding for her friend and colleague Avery.

An OK romantic film, even if Henry comes across as quite wooden and a bit stupid.

Twist Of Fate

Jeff works as a car assistant who talks to the customers via connection if they need assistance with the car. When Kelly has an incident, he talks her through the situation and they form a special bond. Can they find each other in real life?

The movie doesn't start well. The 'accident' that Kelly has is a ridiculous small incident. The 'contact' that they form through the call is conspicuous abcent but still it happens (?!). And then Jeff also turns on the speaker function so that the whole office listens to the call is just plain idiotic. However, if you can ignore the lousy start (and pretend that it was a real accident and that they actually formed a bond between them) the film gets a little better after that, but still…

Two for the Win

Plot

Justin is a successful downhill skier who is determined to come back after an injury. He comes back to his hometown where he hasn't been without a coach for a long time. His manager persuades Justin's former friend Kayla, who works as a ski instructor, to train Justin as they did in their youth.

Two Turtle Doves

Dr. Sharon Hayes has the chance to receive an important scholarship to continue working with brain research. Before that, however, she must go to Pine Springs to take care of the inheritance of her grandmother who took care of her after Sharon's parents died. Her grandmother has left instructions for her to carry out their Christmas traditions until Christmas before deciding what to do with the house. Grandma's neighbor and lawyer, Sam, and his daughter Mikayla help fixing the Christmas traditions.

A good romantic film about dealing with grief (a la Hallmark) with a lot of feel-good.

Uncorked

Plot

Investment broker Johnny has the chance to secure a large account for the firm. She goes to a conference with her boyfriend, where there are good opportunities to network with the right people. However, it turns out that someone else has beaten her to it and secured the deal with the client. After losing the deal, her boyfriend, and possibly her job, chef Andrew at the hotel restaurant invites her to his parents' vineyard to cheer her up.

A somewhat decent romantic movie that doesn't quite reach all the way, as often is the case with productions with religious undertones (even if they're not particularly prominent).

Under The Autumn Moon

Plot

Alex works at an activity and sports company. The CEO has caught sight of a ranch that is for sale and is considering buying it to use as the company's vacation and course farm. Alex is sent there to check the place out and see if it's a good investment. At the farm, she meets the pair of siblings Josh and Taylor who own the place. They are trying desperately to find a buyer who is willing to keep the ranch as is, but so far the best offer is the neighbor who wants to buy it for pasture.

A good romantic film that has a rather neat resolution at the end.

Unlocking Christmas

Kate is a doctor and has just gotten an internship and moved to Cedar Park. Kevin just finished his military job and have returned to Cedar Park where his parents live. They are each given a mysterious key along with a riddle to solve. The riddles lead them to jointly search for their way between lots of missions.

USS Christmas

Maddie is a reporter and has a mission to find a Christmas story. Her sister serves as a pilot on an aircraft carrier and it's time for the annual family Christmas cruise so Maddie and her mother go along. On board, Maddie finds a reference to a Christmas story in the ship's archives and is helped by pilot Billy.

A romantic film in a slightly different setting (on board an aircraft carrier). An OK story that also offers some F-18 action but that doesn't make up for a weak story.

Plot

Julia and Sydney get a sudden urge to go on a road trip. In a small town in Wyoming, they have a bar incident that lands them in a month of community service. There, Julia meets Ben, who runs the farm where they get to live.

Short review

A film about teaching the snobbish townspeople that small town life is the thing. It works as a romantic movie.
