However, is it the right qualities she is looking for?

When Sophie's boyfriend goes on another mission over Christmas and she learns that her aunt has injured her foot, she goes home to her aunt over Christmas. The neighbor of the aunt is having trouble finding a nanny for his nephew for whom he has become guardian. When Sophie hears that, she jumps in and takes care of the nephew as she is free anyway.

A well-constructed romantic story with a lot of feelgood and kindness.

Picture Perfect Royal Christmas

Plot

Amanda, who is a photographer's assistant, is lured away by a friend on a mission to photograph the royal Christmas celebration in Pantrea. She doesn't know that her friend pretended to be her famous employer. Once there, she meets Prince Leopod, who is arranged to marry Duchess Catherine.

A some what low-budget movie that doesn't make it all the way.

Playing Cupid

Plot

Laura works as a teacher. She breaks up with her boyfriend at a restaurant owned by David. David's daughter turns out to be in Laura's class and as a project assignment she chooses to start a matching company before the school dance. The project also brings Laura and David closer.

A reasonably good romantic story that holds up.

Poinsettias for Christmas

Plot

Ellie is called home to the family's poinsettia farm by her mother when her father has a bad back. When she gets there, it turns out that the farm is in trouble as the poinsettias don't bloom as expected. It turns out that the real reason they wanted to bring Ellie home is because she has green fingers and they hope she can solve the problem. She also meets Shawn who has started working for her father and it turns out that he is the boyfriend of Ellie's nemesis from school. Now Ellie is torn between her life in New York and the family farm.

A fairly good romantic film even if the fake snow etc. shines through.

Prescription for Love

Plot

Nurse Claire is going to her best friend's dance performance when she gets stuck in an elevator with a waiter and a nice man she starts talking to. The next day it turns out he is the new doctor at the hospital but he doesn't recognize her.

A decent romantic film that delivers what it should (including a blind doctor 😉 )

Pride, Prejudice, and Mistletoe

Plot

Darcy has chosen to, instead of working in his father's company, bet on succeeding on her own. And it has gone very well. Now before Christmas, she goes home to help her mother organize a big charity party. There she is confronted by her ex-boyfriend, Carl, who works at her father's company and who still wants them to be together. In working with the party, she also has to work with Luke, who was her constant nemesis in the debate club during school. He has started a restaurant and will be responsible for the catering for the party.

The film is good as a romantic film aided by some intrigue at work.

Project Christmas Wish

Lucy has long before every Christmas runned a charity to fulfill the various Christmas wishes of the town's residents after her own family had their wishes granted during a tough Christmas they had. Eight-year-old Max, daughter of Lucas, wishes for a merry Christmas like they used to have before her mother died. Lucy rises to the task.

A good romantic film with the usual ingredients.

Pumpkin Pie Wars

Plot

A family feud between the mothers of two families who separately run competing bakeries. Their children, Casey who is an accountant and Sam who is a trained chef are drawn in and need to represent their mothers' bakeries in a pumpkin pie competition.

Another okay average romantic movie.

Radio Christmas

Plot

Kara hosts her own radio show, Radio Christmas. When the station she broadcasts from suffers technical problems, she is outsourced to a small station in Bethlehem and ends up in the middle of the Christmas celebrations there. There she also meets Scott and his daughter. The latter is a big fan of Kara's radio pod.

A fairly average story, no thrills.

Raise a Glass to Love

Plot

Jenna has failed to become Master Sommelier two years in a row and is investing wholeheartedly in succeeding the third year. She wants to succeed to be able to be a sommelier at the boyfriend's restaurant that has three stars in the Michelin guide. A month before the important test, her father persuades Jenna to come home to the family vineyard to help him celebrate her parents' wedding anniversary. Once home, she meets Marcelo, who has helped her parents invest in organically grown wine. Now Jenna has to balance her studies for the exam with planning her parents' celebration and learning more about Marcelo's methods.

Short review

A good romantic film with the purposeful and knowledgeable Jenna who, among other things, has to fight to show what she can do in a male sommelier world.

Reluctant Nanny

Plot

The policeman Dan comes into contact with two foster children who are in trouble. He wants to take care of them temporarily so that they don't have to be split up between new homes. To be able to do this, he needs a nanny. Libby has come to Los Angeles for a new job but when she gets there it turns out that everyone has been fired. Now Libby will be completely without a job and a place to live. When Libby is exposed to a bag robbery, she gets help from Dan. Dan, who is having trouble finding a nanny, understands that Libby needs both a job and somewhere to live, and therefore offers her to temporarily step in as a nanny for the two foster children.

A good romantic film with an "instant family" ending.

Resort to Love

Plot

Erica was dumped by Jason before their wedding. Now her chance to break through as a singer has also gone down the drain. Erica allows herself to be persuaded by her best friend to take a job as a singer at a hotel in the tropics. She is upset when it turns out that she is mostly expected to sing at weddings organized at the hotel. Things get even worse when Jason shows up with his new fiancée and it turns out that Erica is expected to sing at their wedding. Also appearing does Jason's brother Cre. Can he make things better?

A movie that was better than I thought. Funny without being cheesy.

Retreat to Paradise

Plot

Physiotherapist Ellie needs a job. Suddenly she gets the chance when she is assigned to help tennis pro Jordan who has injured his shoulder. Not only that but the job is on a tropical island too. The problem, however, turns out to be that Jordan is an unwilling patient with an attitude problem. However, Ellie does not give up (as his former physical therapists did) and slowly she breaks through Jordan's resistance.

A good romantic movie where the strange behaviours gets explained.

Plot

Bob and Elizabeth are happily married but one day they get into a car accident and Elizabeth dies. Meanwhile, Grace is in the hospital dying of a heart disease when she suddenly gets the chance for a new life thanks to a heart donation. A year later, Bob is realizing Elizabeth's dream of building a new monkey house for the gorilla that Elizabeth trained with at the zoo. His friends take him on a blind date at restarang. It happens to be Grace's family restaurant where she serves. Bob and Grace meet and they start dating.

A very good romantic film. It's full of life with a serious theme. Good acting and a well crafted story.

Right in Front of Me

Plot

Carly has her own company that fixes wedding dresses. When one of her weddings is postponed and she has a few days to spare, her best friend convinces her to come on a mini vacation at the hotel her friend is the manager of. There she befriends Nick, who is a sous chef at the hotel. Meanwhile, it turns out that several of her old collage friends are there for a wedding, including Matt who Carly liked at the time. Will she get another chance with Matt?

A good romantic film again with the theme of knowing what you really want.

Road to Christmas

Plot

Maggie is a producer for a show that will be broadcast live on Christmas Eve. The show's star, Julia, brings in her son, Danny, as a co-producer for the broadcast. They are tasked with pre-filming some elements that will also be used in the broadcast on their way to Montana where the show will be broadcast.

A reasonably good romantic story about Christmas's message of family togetherness etc.

Roadhouse Romance

Plot

Callie returns from her military service to find her boyfriend has a new girlfriend and the family's BBQ restaurant is failing. In the middle of it all, she clashes with Luke, a director who has taken a detour to their restaurant on his way to his girlfriend in California. Luke is forced to remain in the restaurant's guest room while his car is repaired. Meanwhile, Luke is confronted with Callie's country music and country life.

Short review

A good romantic film that follows the old well-known recipe but still feels a little fresh.

Romance at Reindeer Lodge

Plot

Molly wins a trip to Jamaica over Christmas. What she doesn't notice as she is busy with work is that it is to Jamaica, Vermont. She has won a stay at a small reindeer farm. Desperate, she tries to get back home, but she is stuck on the farm. In addition to the owner couple, there are also Kayla and Greg, who are there to try to photograph reindeer, and Jared, who Molly met on the flight there. Molly slowly comes to terms with the fact that she can't get home. However, the reindeer are conspicuous by their absence.

Short review

An ok romantic movie. Would have benefited from being filmed "on location" and not in front of a green screen.

Romance in the Air

Plot

Eden has difficulty with motivation in her advertising job. She is sent on leave by the boss to "gian back her geist". She chooses to go to her parents' house at Lake Tahoe with a friend. There she meets her childhood friend Riley, who is trying to get his company that organizes hot air balloon rides up and running.

A "run of the mill" romantic film with the usual ingredients.

Romance on the Menu

Plot

Caroline is busy managing her restaurant in New York when she is suddenly gets a message that she has inherited her aunt's cafe in Lemon Myrtle Cove in Australia. She has to go there to organize the sale of the cafe. Once there, she is met with resistance from the staff who are afraid that the cafe will lose its character and that they will lose their jobs. They convince Simon, the cafe's chef, to try to persuade Caroline not to sell.

A good film on the theme of finding love on the other side of the world.

Romantically Speaking

Plot

Ariel has followed in her father's footsteps and become a radio host where she runns the program Romantically Speaking. Suddenly, the program gets the opportunity to go national, but the choice is made between it and another program on the same channel. At the same time, Ariel's boyfriend breaks up, which is not good if she is to succeed. Her old friend Nathan happens to be mistaken for her boyfriend and has to jump in and pretend to be him in order for the show to succeed.

Short review

The film becomes entertaining with its complications and lies.

Rome in Love

Plot

Amelia has been taking care of her younger sister, Kathryn, since their mother died. When, one day, Kathryn sees an ad for an audition for a movie role looking for an unknown female actor, she persuades Amelia to audition. To their surprise, Amelia gets the part in a remake of "Roman Holiday". She travels to Rome in secret as the director wants to keep who got the part a surprise. In Rome there is also Philip, an American who works as a reporter. He is tasked by his editor to find out who the secret woman who got the role is.

A good average romantic movie.

Royal Hearts

Plot

Kelly's father, a die-hard rancher, inherits an estate in Europe. The father and Kelly go there to discover that it is actually a kingdom he inherited and with that title king. Kelly, who is a hopeless romantic, is caught between the neighboring kingdom's prince, who is wooing her, and the castle's "all-in-all" Nik.

A rather tiresome story about the rancher pitted against royal snobbery. A fairly cheap production.

Royal Matchmaker

Plot

Kate has a company that deals with "match making". She is hired by King Edward to find a partner for his son Sebastian. The idea is that Sebastian will announce an engagement at the Christmas ball held at the castle.

Short review

A classic woman of the people gets her prince. There are many and this one stands up well in that competition.

Sailing Into Love

Plot

Claire is a biologist and loves Blue Island outside her hometown. Now she is going to three weddings where her ex is also coming with his new girlfriend. She gets to know Tom, a captain who has just bought a ship in the harbor and runs into him in several contexts. At the same time, her favorite island is threatened by exploitation.

A good romantic film with all the ingredients.

Same Time Next Week

Plot

Sarah is opening a bookstore with her late husband's sister, Maggie. Maggie doesn't dare tell Sarah that she's seeing the construction manager, Teddy, to avoid making Sarah feel that she's been left alone. Meanwhile, Maggie meets Ryan who has lost his wife. They start having a joint pie after their weekly visit to the cemetery and a new friendship is born.

A good movie about moving on after a loss, romantically.

Sand Dollar Cove

Plot

Elli is sent off to Sand Dollar Cove to acquire a beach plot where her company wants to build a tourist hotel. Brody who owns the lot may consider selling the lot if they restore and preserve the pier that was destroyed in a hurricane. However, it is not part of Ellis' firm's plans. Elli spends time trying to convince Brody to sell which leads them to see each other a lot.

Cassie is Santa's daughter. She wants to experience the world before she is forced to marry the son of King Bore. She manages to persuade her father to go to collage in the ordinary world. There, Sam and her helper, JR, meet two guys who are very different.

No, it doesn't work. A rather tiresome film.

Santa's Boots

Plot

Holly is encouraged by her boss to take Christmas off. She goes home to her father, who runs a department store in her hometown. A crisis in the staffing of the Santa station in the department store means that they hire Nick, who is friends with the Santa renting company, and Holly herself jumps into Santa's helper.

Short review

It goes well with many of the common ingredients. The nod to the Cinderella story and the hunt for someone who fits the shoe (which actually doesn't take up much space in the film despite the title) gets silly, but if you ignore that, it's good.

Scents And Sensibility

Plot

Sisters whose father swindled a lot of money. They have to manage in their new lives, but with the help of one sister's health cream, things get sorted out and they find love.

Short review

A relatively harmless film that doesn't stand out.

Sealed with a Kiss: Wedding March 6

Plot

Movie star Curt is to marry children's book author Autumn. Autumn wants a quiet wedding without all the celebrity and pressure. They have decided to have the wedding at an Inn run by Mick and Olivia who in turn are also planning their own wedding. While gathering for Curt and Autumn's wedding, Sean, Curt's agent, also shows up. He wants to try to find a way to turn Curt's wedding into something positive for Curt's career. Curt starts agreeing to one thing after another, much to Autumn's dismay. Meanwhile, Mick and Olivia's planned wedding is hit by one setback after another.

Short review

A reasonably good romantic film that somehow balances conflicting wills. It does not quite qualify within my critereas as they are together from the start but I snuck it in the list anyway as it is the sixth and final film in the Wedding March series.

Mother, Tyler who is a chef, and daughter go home for the summer and she participates in a BBQ competition where she meets an old flame, Corey, who is a celebrity chef.

Decent film that delivers without major complications but still...

Seasoned With Love

Plot

Winona has a restaurant and a popular food blog. One day she gets the chance to go to New York to audition for the chance to host her own food show on TV. She decides to take a leisurely drive to New York. However, the car stalls outside the small town of New Holland. She is forced to take in an Inn run by Adam, a single father. In return for a promise to get the car repaired in time to make it to New York, she agrees to fix the food for the local spring festival in the city.

A good film that delivers what it should. Very feel-good.

Second Chances

Plot

Jenny is single with her two children and works at the emergency services and takes calls. Jeff, who is a firefighter, injures his leg and cannot climb stairs. He lives on the third floor, so he rents a room at Jenny's while he recovers.

Short review

An unexpectedly good film where the complication at the end doesn't feel as forced as usual.

Secret Millionaire

Plot

Sean's father, a wealthy builder, wants Sean to stabilize and get a job or start working for him or he will disinherit him. At the same time, Sean meets Allison, who is fighting to save a park that Sean's father wants to exploit. Allison doesn't know that Sean is the son of her nemesis and Sean doesn't want to reveal it at the risk of ruining his chances. Sean takes a job at the Food Truck that Allison works extra in to get closer to her and to show his father that he has a job.

Short review

A good romantic story. Doesn't stand out, but it works but only just.

Secret Summer

Plot

Rachel is sent out of her comfort zone, New York, to a small town to value the town's library inherited by the children of the library's financier. The staff finds out that there is a risk that the library will be sold and perhaps closed down. They persuade Jake, who spends all his time in the library studying material for his new book, to try to influence Rachel to recommend that the library be preserved. Jake takes on the task at the same time as he has to look after his nephews as their parents have to go away to work.

The film is good and includes even a treasure hunt.

See You Soon

Plot

Lana ends up divorcing her unfaithful husband at home in Moscow. To support herself and her son, she takes a job as a bartender on a cruise ship while her mother takes care of her son. On the ship, Ryan arrives as he tries to escape the pressure created when he sustains a serious injury that threatens his career as a professional soccer player. They are drawn to each other despite the differences between their lives. Can they overcome the difficulties?

A slightly different romantic film in a good way. The Russian background gives more depth (and makes the film different from the usual ones).

Sense, Sensibility & Snowmen

Ella and her sister Marianne run a party fixing company. Marianne doubts Ella's ability and to prove herself, Ella takes a job fixing the Christmas party for a company. The CEO, Edward, however, is a man she gets a bad impression of from the start.

A fairly good romantic film that also offers a secondary romance as well.

When workaholic and reality TV producer Sophie begins work on a new series about Will, who celebrates Christmas every day of the year, she soon finds herself falling for his slightly mysterious, unlikely new star, renewing her long-lost faith in Christmas.

My Bakery In Brooklyn

Plot

Vivien and Chloe inherit their aunt's bakery in Brooklyn. However, the bakery is in debt and Vivien must try to solve it with the bank's representative, Paul. Meanwhile, Chloe struggles with Fernando, with whom she has a love-hate relationship. In parallel with this, the store's assistant Ian meets Chloe's friend Daniella, who he becomes completely captivated by.

A lot happens in this movie which has some funny moments. I liked this slightly crazy movie.

My Best Friends Bouquet

Plot

Josie is convinced that whoever catches the bridal bouquet at a wedding will be the next one to get married. When she (unexpectedly) catches the bouquet at her best friend's wedding, she thinks she's jinxed her other friend's wedding plans. In addition, she starts dating Will, whom she met at the wedding, while her friend Alex is secretly in love with her.

Callie's family keeps nagging her to get a boyfriend, which makes her very frustrated. She meets her brother's friend Will who also likes to be single. Callie convinces Will to pretend to be her boyfriend at her birthday party to avoid the family nagging.

The owners of a Diner are surprised at closing time by Bailey who comes in from the rain in a wedding dress and with three dogs. She gets to tell her story about how she came to have three dogs after three different boyfriends and why she ran away from her wedding.

Suddenly, romantic Christmas gifts related to The Twelve Days of Christmas from a mysterious sender begin to appear.

An okay romantic film about friendship that develops into something more but still leaves a bite more to whish for.

My Fake Fiancé

Jennifer and Vince meet at their respective friends' weddings and really don't get along. Then when Vince's lender starts to get threatening and Jennifer loses of all her belongings when her moving car is stolen, they realize that you get a lot of gifts and money when you get married. They decide, despite their differences, to arrange a fake wedding together to get all the gifts and save their finances.

An okay romantic film about friendship that develops into something more. But it does not quite deliver all the way.

My Favorite Wedding

Tess cruises through her best friend's wedding planning as the star doctor she hopes to soon become. In fact, Tess solves any problem - provided it's not her own. When she meets the divorce lawyer and best man of the groom, Michael, and has to work with him on the wedding plans, she has reason to think about herself as well.

The film holds up in terms of story and works excellently as a romantic film.

My One & Only

Plot

Stephanie lets herself be talked into participating in the reality show The Only by her best friend (who is a producer in said show). Stephanie is hesitant about the whole concept but leaves for a week of filming where she will date Oliver, who is the bachelor of the season. It doesn't really work out between them and besides, there is friction with the guide at a ranch where they are filming, Alex. Unlike Oliver, however, Stephanie finds that Alex may not be as troublesome as he seems…

A good romantic film if you can stomach reality TV as the background of the film.

My Santa

Jen has had a hard time with Christmas ever since her husband left her and her son on Christmas Eve when the son was just one year old. Now a new reporter has started at the newspaper that Jen works for, that she is drawn to. However, her son, Gabe, wants more than anything to celebrate Christmas properly and gets to meet the town's new Santa Claus, Chris, who, to Jen's dismay, promises that Gabe will get what he wants for Christmas. Chris also begins courting Jen, who finds it hard to resist his charms. Little do Jen and Gabe know that Chris is actually Santa's son.

A very bad story that does not convince in any dimension.

Charlie meets a girl and falls for her but their dates go from one disaster to another. Everything is chaos until they decide not to see each other for a year.

A girl who acts strangely (throughout most of the film). The whole thing is finally explained and it ends happily. Maybe sounds a bit strange but it's worth seeing.

My Secret Valentine

Plot

Chloe's father wants her to come home to the vineyard in Oregon. Once there, the father tell her that he plans to sell the farm. A representative of a large wine company comes there and tries to convince them to sell to them.

Short review

A wine story with a happy ending. It works and becomes fairly good.

Mystery Girl

Plot

Larry becomes smitten with a girl he sees in town, Chloe, and manages to overhear her sharing her new email address with a friend. He starts sending her fan mail but he manages to get one letter wrong and the mail ends up with Charley who is a single mother who works at the same place as Chloe.

A rather pleasant romantic film about the fact that love does not always lie in a pretty surface.

Nature of Love

Plot

Katie gets the chance to write a real article for once. Incognito, she goes to a luxury camping to write a report. There, she receives guidance from Will, who works seasonally at the camp.

Short review

A romantic film that holds up well. Katie gets to keep her integrity that she would have sacrificed it in a worse movie.

Never Kiss a Man in a Christmas Sweater

Plot

Maggie, who is a teacher and single mother, accidentally knocks over Luke, an architect visiting town, with a Christmas tree. When he gets injured, Luke can't go on his Christmas trip to Aspen as planned. Instead, Maggie offers him to stay in her guest cabin until Christmas.

A good romantic Christmas film, which is mainly enhanced by Ashley Williams (Maggie) and her happy and slightly mischievous manner.

Nick And Norah's Infinite Playlist

Plot

Nick's girlfriend breaks up and he wants her back. During a tumultuous night, he meets Norah who asks him to pretend to be her boyfriend for five minutes. Then the circus begins.

A film that oscillates between teenage film and romantic comedy but fails to do either.

No Reservations

Plot

Kate is the head chef at a fine restaurant. Her sister dies in a car accident, leaving behind a daughter, Zoe, for whom Kate is given responsibility. At the same time, the restaurant owner hires Nick a sous chef somewhat against Kate's wishes.

This is more of a Hollywood production with a slightly more serious theme. As a romantic film it is very good.

Northern Lights of Christmas

Plot

Zoey has her sights set on becoming a pilot and owning her own aircraft and aviation business. Everything is put on hold when she inherits a reindeer farm up in Alaska. Now she has to figure out what to do with the farm together with Alec who works on the farm and has his own ideas about how it should be.

A good film that resolves itself for the best and also offers a bit of flying too.

Nostalgic Christmas

Plot

Ann works as a toy buyer for a large chain. Before Christmas, she goes to her father's house to help him prepare to close his local toy store and retire. Back in town, she meets Keith, a single father, who runs the local sawmill, which is also threatened with closure, as the owner also has retirement plans. Both Ann and Kieth are persuaded to lead the Christmas festivities in the town and they must work together for the next few weeks while dealing with the closure of the toy store and the sawmill respectively.

Short review

Again a film about the value of the small town versus a career in the big city. However, it holds up as a romantic film.

October kiss

Plot

Poppy's work life is going almost as badly as her dating life. She has a hard time finding what she is good at. Her sister points out that she is very good with her nephews, so Poppy decides to try being a nanny. She gets a job with Ryan and his two children Zoe and Zach. The children are very reluctant to have another nanny but Poppy takes on the duties with her usual positive energy and soon the children are warming up to her. But will she be able to get Ryan to spend more time with his children as he should?

A good romantic movie. Appropriately cozy and sweet. Helped by the always positive Ashley Williams.

Off The Menu

Plot

Joel, who is a rather self-absorbed wealthy man, is sent out by the family business (a large Tex-Mex chain) to find new flavors to renew the range. He eventually ends up in a small village in New Mexico where Javiera runs a small restaurant with genuine flavors and family recipes.

Now he has returned to the city as a DJ and radio host on the local radio station. These days, Mitch is very anti-Christmas and Maggie decides to become Mitch's "secret Santa" to make him like Christmas the way he once did for her.

Josh is a driven "deal closer" at his father's real estate company. He is sent off to fix the takeover of a local theater with his slightly careless brother. The theater is a family theater owned by Tiffany's father. Tiffany writes plays and performs in the theater. Josh goes there incognito to find a good way to close the deal and happens to end up in the theater's next production.

The film delivers good romance and the moral that everything old is worth preserving.

Katie is a princess in an unknown European country. She is tired of constantly having her life lined up. One day she skips her bodyguards and sets out into New York. There she meets Jack, who is a construction manager and does a lot of voluntary work.

A cute romantic movie. However, they manage to spoil the ending which could have been done much better.

Once Upon A Main Street

Plot

Amelia wants to open a year-round Christmas shop. She thinks she has secured the perfect venue when it turns out that Vic is also looking at the same venue. Amelia goes to the owner of the venue, Elder, to influence him to sell to her, but so does Vic. They are tasked with organizing the town's Christmas pageant together and they set out to influence Elder.

Katherine has a bad Valentine's Day both at work and with her date. During the day, she meets a lady with a dog who advises her to think about what she can do better. The next day, Katherine wakes up to the same Valentine's Day again. And this repeats itself while she slowly understands that she needs to think differently about what she wants and what kind of love she is looking for.

Another "Groundhog" movie and this one is actually pretty good.

Kyra works at the city's hotel, but in her spare time she makes jewelry from junk she finds in her father's workshop or in town. When she sees a vacant premises, she begins to dream of opening her own jewelry store. Aiden, the son of the owners of the hotel, appears. He is in town to fix up a premises for one of his clients. Kyra and Aiden knew each other during school when they were constantly competing against each other. They begin to hang out despite their previous differences, but little do they know that they are competing against each other to rent the attractive venue in the city.

A good romantic film although I thought the actors were a little too young for their roles.

Anna is on her way home for Christmas. She runs into James and his mother and their companion Christopher. Their flight is canceled due to blizzard and Anna offers them to accompany her to her father's Inn for the night. Little does she know that James is Prince and his mother Queen of Galwick.

Another European kingdom that I didn't know about. The film pushes the stereotypes a little too far.

One Small Hitch

Plot

Josh breaks up with his girlfriend right before he's going home to attend his best friend Sean's parents' wedding. Molly, Sean's sister, is going to the same wedding with her boyfriend when she discovers at the airport that he is married. They meet in the airport bar where Molly is sitting being depressed. Josh has also learned that his father is dying and is under pressure to show that he is about to settle down. On the flight home, Josh convinces Molly to pretend they are engaged to please his dying father.

One Starry Christmas

Holly just received her PhD in Astronomy before Christmas. Now her boyfriend, Adam, announces that he has to go to New York on business over Christmas. Having already told her parents in New York that she can't come home for Christmas, Holly decides to take the bus to New York (she's afraid of flying) to surprise both her boyfriend and her parents on Christmas. On the bus, she meets Luke, a cowboy who is also on his way to New York. When the bus breaks down, they continue in a rental car. It's shaping up to be an interesting Christmas.

In and of itself, a decent romantic film, but it is plagued with some gaps and you also have to buy into the romantic the charm of a hillbilly.

One Summer

Plot

Jack was about to die of an undiagnosed illness but instead it was his wife, Lizzie, who died in a car accident. Now Jack is healthy again and we follow him and his children, Mikki and Cory, as they go to Lizzie's hometown to live in her summer house and meet the children's grandparents. Jack takes on Lizzie's dream of restoring the lighthouse that stands next to the house. At the local restaurant, Mikki meets the owner, Jenna's son Liam whom she likes. She gets a job at the restaurant while Jack also helps Jenna with some remodeling.

A film about dealing with the grief of a wife and mother. The romances are there but don't get a prominent role. Therefore, the film only gets a 4, even though it is quite good.

One Winter Weekend

Cara sees her boyfriend kissing another girl on New Year's Eve and decides to stop seeing guys for a while. Her best friend, Megan, takes her on a skiing holiday and they happen to be double booked in a cabin with two guys, Ben and Sean.

Olivia and her children meet Marc and his daughter at a ski resort before Christmas. Likings develops and they plan Christmas day activities but Marc is suddenly called up for duty and they lose touch. A year later, Olivia has moved to Washington (state) for a new job at a bank. She is tasked with coordinating the bank's charity effort before Christmas with the military, and it turns out that the person she is supposed to coordinate with is Marc. Can she forgive him for disappearing only a year ago and could she handle the uncertain life with a man who can constantly be called away for duty in dangerous places?

A good romantic film with a feel-good ending. That is if you put up with the Americans' celebration of the military and the religious elements (which are not predominant).

A woman dies before her wedding. The man's sister makes him go to a medium to help him move on in his life. However, the woman's ghost is not ready to let that happen.

Alex, who is a photographer, must come up with an idea for his magazine to get a promotion. She suggests taking up the story of the blue pearl in Fiji that the author Colin wrote about. Suddenly she is sent to Fiji together with a somewhat reluctant Colin.

Noelle's mother sends her Christmas shoes every Christmas with little messages about what Christmas magic the shoes are associated with. Noelle who lost her Christmas spark after she was cheated on by her ex-boyfriend and lost him and her interior design career at Christmas. When she goes to buy her favourite Christmas candy at her favourite candy store, she learns that it is about to close. She offers to help the son of the owner of the chain, John, try to save the store with her decorating skills.

Charlie is trying to make it as a screenwriter and Erin is trying to break through as an actress. They meet when Charlie is assigned to film an extra shower scene. They decide to try to improve their careers by filming a fake relationship between them.

A total low-budget film with all the bad sides of low-budget films. Simply crap.

Maddy runs a wedding dress business with her best friend. One day a couple walks in who wants to get married before Christmas. It's a short time frame and they haven't had time to plan anything. They persuade Maddy to plan their wedding (something that could be a good way to increase income for the shop). Then comes the bride's brother, Johnny. He is a famous movie star who wants to make sure his sister's wedding goes well. Johnny and Maddy start planning the wedding together.

Yes, the movie holds up. The romance develops despite fame and other challenges.

Matching Hearts

Plot

Julia works as a matchmaker. Her company figures that if they can match "Mr. Stay Single", Daniel, it would be a great feather in their cap for Valentines. Julia is tasked with convincing the reluctant Daniel to sign up for their dating service.

Maggie works at a publishing house. Her hobby is matching people up. She takes it upon herself to find a date for her boss, Amanda. At the same time, Amanda announces that they have signed a successful author for the publisher that she wants Maggie to take care of. It turns out to be Jaxson who Maggie dated in high school but her family made her break up with.

A good romantic movie. Emily Rose makes the role of Maggie believable, a really good effort.

Matchmaker Santa

Plot

As a child, Melanie wished as a Christmas present from Santa that one day she would meet her "Prince Charming". As an adult, she now runs a bakery and dates a successful CEO, Justin. Before Christmas, Justin wants Melanie to come up to his family's luxury house and meet his mother. However, he does not have time to go up with her, so he sends his assistant Dean to pick her up. Melanie, having met a nice white-bearded man, Chris, on the flight convinces Dean to pick him up on the way and drop him off where he's going. When they drop Chris off, however, their car breaks down and Dean and Melanie are forced to wait while it is fixed. Meanwhile, Melanie gets reason to think about who her "Prince Charming" really is.

An good romantic movie without any surprises (except possibly a bear). It's cute and a little funny in its simplicity.

Lou loses her job and has to look for a new one to help bring in money for the family when dad is unemployed. She manages to get a job as a care taker for a Will who has been paralyzed from the neck down.

Her positive outlook on life is contrasted with his negative one. This is more of a drama than a romantic movie. SPOILER ALERT: This movie should not really be in this collection as it does not end "happily ever after", but it is a good movie so I kept it in.

Meet Me at Christmas

Joan has just arrived at the hotel for her son's wedding when it turns out the wedding planner dumped them for a high-profile wedding. Now Joan is forced to work with Beau, the bride's uncle, to fix everything before the wedding. However, it turns out that Joan and Beau met once before, a long time ago.

The movie is OK. Some flashbacks lead us into the background but not the explanation for their strained relationship.

Meet My Mom

Plot

Jared and his mother Dana have moved to California after his parents' divorce. He is sad about losing his Iowa friends and that his dad has moved to the East Coast and can hardly see him. One day they get an assignment at school to write to the soldiers serving in Bosnia and Jared gets in touch with Sergeant Vince. Vince answers and as a child of divorce himself, he takes on Jared. When Vince comes home on leave, he looks up Jared and then also meets Dana. They are attracted to each other but both find it hard to bond as they know Vince can be called away at any time.

This movie is decent despite coming from UP Faith & Family. The religious pointers are few. You have to live with the Americans' praise of the military.

Merry and Bright

Cate has taken over as CEO at grandma's candy cane factory, which is having a hard time coping with its seasonal production before Christmas. The board has decided to bring in a business consultant, Gabe, to find the weaknesses and make the company more long-term sustainable.

Noëlle and Jessie are divorced since Noëlle thought Jessie had an affair. Years later, they converge, Noëlle's new fiancé, their daughter, Noëlle's mother, a new girl who hangs out with Jessie in their mountain cabin.

Kayla is engaged to celebrity choreographer Carlton. One day she gets stuck in an elevator with chef Dustin. When there is a mistletoe hanging in the elevator, they spontaneously exchange a kiss. It soon turns out that Dustin is the one who will deliver the catering for Kayla and Carlton's engagement party. The acquaintance with Dustin makes Kayla think about her slightly crooked relationship with Carlton.

Jessica receives a prestigious assignment to design a pre-Christmas photoshoot for a magazine wedding theme. If she lands it, it could mean promotion to partner in the firm. The only problem is that the magazine has hired the photographer Eddie who is Jessica's ex-boyfriend and they did not end their relationship in a good way.

A fairly good romantic film, even if you think that Eddie lacks sensitivity (not to mention that he sometimes seems blind, deaf and stupid) but without that there would have been no drama.

Midnight at the Magnolia

Childhood friends Maggie and Jack are morning presenters together at a local radio station. The show is popular as they share their private lives. Now comes the chance to make the show national, but the national company wants them to open with a New Year's broadcast where they introduce their respective boyfriend and girlfriend to their families at the jointly owned family restaurant Magnolia. But both Maggie and Jack get dumped and to try to save the situation they fake a relationship with each other to make it more interesting for the national company.

Despite this, they decide to continue dating before Christmas when they are invited to several 'plus one' events.

Holly is in charge of fixing the big Christmas tree in Chicago and her enthusiasm for the task has earned her the name Miss Christmas. This year, however, the tree is damaged and Holly must quickly find a replacement. In the huge collection of letters with various proposals, Holly finds a letter from the little guy Joey who sent a picture of a perfect Christmas tree. She goes there but finds Joe's father Sam unwilling to part with the tree. A persuasion campaign starts.

Could have been something, but they seem to have read the manual but didn't understand anything. It is made completely without the right feeling for what works.

Mix Up in the Mediterranean

Plot

Josh accompanies his twin brother, who is a celebrity chef, to a prestigious cooking competition in the Mediterranean. The brother gets back pain when it's time to sign up for the competition and Josh volunteers pretending to be his brother and accidentally ends up in the middle of the competition. It is arranged by Meg and a spark is lit between them, but his brother is married. How will this go?

The film works quite well. Unusually, his brother is actually married to his companion Henri.

Modern Persuasion

Plot

Wren is focused on her career in New York but is forced to deal with the aftermath of a failed relationship when Owen, her ex-boyfriend, hires her company.

Half good movie. Many who are paired up and the right pair get each other in the end.
