Meanwhile, Faith, Emily's best friend, has decided to surprise Emily, who she thinks is celebrating Christmas alone at home, by visiting her. Faith, of course, finds Charles there to her surprise.

Despite double stories (or maybe even three), this film works well. A lot about opening up to new thinking.

However, if you can ignore the lousy start (and pretend that it was a real accident and that they actually formed a bond between them) the film gets a little better after that, but still…

The film is inconsistent (one moment the souls who can't grasp a phone and the next moment they're dressing a Christmas tree). It's not made better by them trying to make Nicolette Sheridan look like she's 35-40 when she's actually 50.

Could have been a good reel but it is completely ruined by bad acting. How Kate can smile through the last part of the film when she should be upset, sad and moved is completely incomprehensible. The world's most disengaged wedding coordinator as a comic effect does not save the film.

The Longest Ride

Plot

Luke, who is a rodeo star, and Sophia, who studies at a collage, meet and, despite hesitations, Sophia agrees to a date. On the way home, they come to a single vehicle accident where they manage to save an elderly man. Sophia also manages to save a basket containing lots of letters from the man to his great love. While the man recovers, Sophia gets to read the letters aloud to him and gains insight into his life with his wife and the hardships they have been through. This also affects Sopia's relationship with Luke who, despite what everyone says, continues with the rodeos.

Short review

Slightly different romantic film with two parallel stories separated in time. Had a bit of a hard time with the rodeo theme, but that can be tolerated. The resolution alone is worth the film though.

This one surprised me a little in how good it was. It starts like most others, a bit like a comedy but it gets good and tackles some slightly more difficult things.

It goes well with many of the common ingredients. The nod to the Cinderella story and the hunt for someone who fits the shoe (which actually doesn't take up much space in the film despite the title) gets silly, but if you ignore that, it's good.
