Plot

True has developed a dating app and now he and his friend Benny and their lawyer Kiki are looking for an investor. However, True is doubtful as he fails to find a good date himself with the app. One evening when they are out celebrating that they may have found an investor, he meets a girl via the app. The only problem, however, is that she only speaks Spanish. True, having received her address in Mexico, decides to see if the app works by going there and seeing if it really was a match. His friends accompany him on his crazy trip to Mexico that doesn't quite turn out as he planned.

A romantic film that may not be 100% but it's good. Partly fun and on crooked roads everything gets well in the end.

For Love & Honor

Plot

Tom has retired from the military when he is approached by his former commanding officer about his old school. The school is in trouble and he is offered a position there to try to reverse the trend. However, it means he has to work with Caroline, the school's new principal, and they have very different opinions on how best to address the school's problems.

A almost decent romantic film if you can handle the military theme at school.

Two Weeks Notice

Plot

Lucy is a committed lawyer who wants to preserve the building heritage from large developers. One of these is George Wade, a slightly disorganized womanizer. When she approaches him to save a "Community center", he hires her instead as a lawyer at the firm with the promise that he will preserve the center and she will get to work with charity. However, the job soon develops into her becoming not only a lawyer in the firm but also his personal assistant. When she tries to resign, however, it turns out that she is stuck in a contract.

A rather funny romantic film with Sandra Bullock and Hugh Grant. More Hollywood than Hallmark.

Amazing Winter Romance

Plot

Julia has problems with the inspiration for her articles. Her boss assigns her to go back to her old hometown to find back to the inspiration she brought with her when she moved away. Once home, she discovers that her childhood friend Nate has built a large snow maze from leftover snow that Julia's father removed in his snow removal business. Julia finds more and more inspiration in writing about Christmas and the labyrinth. But maybe it's Nate who gives her the best inspiration.

Love on Trend

Plot

Allie writes for her friend's online publication but really wants to work as a clothing designer. One day she accidentally destroys her phone and when she gets a new one, she gets a new number. It turns out that the number belonged to the famous designer Cassidy, who just now seems to have taken a 'brake' and disappeared. When Allie uses an invitation to a designer event that came to Cassie's old number, she meets Colin, who is the one who arranged investors for Cassie. Pressured to save Cassie's company in her absence, he tries to enlist Allie to step in and finish designing this year's collection.

As a romantic film, it sticks to the usual concept and turns out decently well.

A Wedding to Remember

Plot

Olivia runs a city park that her mother started. Now a construction company represented by Brian will come and build on the entire area. Olivia and Brian argue against each other over the construction. It gets worse when they discover that they are both at the same weekend wedding as best man and maid of honor. However, the bride and groom have doubts and suddenly Olivia and Brian are faced with the challenge of getting the couple back together and saving the wedding. Something that won't be so easy but makes a temporary peace to succeed.

Short review

The conflict between Olivia and Brian is never that convincing and the film becomes a bit so and so.

I Want You Back

Plot

Emma is dumped by her boyfriend after a year and a half and at the same time Peter's girlfriend of six years ends their relationship. They bump into each other in the escape stairs at their respective jobs as they retreat in their grief. They become friends in their grief over their broken relationships. Soon, however, a plan is born to try to break up their exes relationships and get their loved ones back. Emma will seduce Peter's ex girlfriend's new boyfriend and Peter will become best friends with Emma's ex boyfriend and make him break up his relationship.

A fun romantic film that doesn't follow the established pattern but doesn't go all the way to a six.

Enchanted

Plot

Fairy tale princess Giselle falls from her cartoon world and appears, to her horror, in real New York. There she is eventually helped by the lawyer Robert and his daughter who take on the confused princess. However, this creates problems with Nancy, who Robert is about to get engaged to. Meanwhile, Giselle's cartoon prince, Edward, also arrives in reality in his quest to find Giselle. Gisell is also hunted by the Evil Queen's, Edward's mother-in-law's, henchman Nathaniel, who tries to prevent Giselle and Edward from reuniting.

Short review

A romantic film like a fairy tale. It is an entertaining film where fairytale meets reality.

Home for my Heart

Plot

Bonnie opens an organic tea cafe with her best friend. In the same building, her father, who is a famous singer, has his studio and on the roof the café has a terrace where Bonnie also reads poetry that she writes herself. Ryder, who wants to become a singer but has problems recording his songs, arrives to the city. The melodies comes but he has difficulty with the lyrics. He seeks out Bonnie's father for advice. He hears Bonnie's poetry and is inspired to seek her help with the lyrics. In return, he promises to get the critic Branch to come to the cafe and review it.

A standard film that doesn't offer anything extra.

The Story Of Love

Plot

Ruby dreams of becoming a writer but has mostly been refused. Now her mother has secretly entered her into a competition announced by a publisher that will take place in the wilderness at Lake Tahoe and she is accepted. She is looking forward to meeting the well-known novelist Marcus and learning from him. Instead, the contestants get to spend a lot of time out fishing in the company of Woody, who runs the Inn where they live. Ruby is very uncomfortable with the outdoors but Woody pushes on. Isn't it also something fishy with the celebrity writer Marcus?

Short review

No. Maybe it could have been something, but the film is sunk by Franco Lo Presti.

While You Were Sleeping

Plot

Lucy works in the barrier to the subway. Every day a handsome man passes by that she dreams about but never talks to. One day, however, he is pushed from the platform onto the tracks and Lucy throws herself out and manages to save him. She accompanies him to the hospital where he is admitted, unconscious. In the confusion, she is mistaken for his girlfriend and before she knows it, his whole family thinks they are getting married. Lucy is drawn into their family life and since she herself lacks a family, she finds it hard to resist. There she meets Jack, the unconscious man's brother, in the middle of all the lies.

A good romantic movie that is more Hollywood than Hallmark. Made in 1995, it has stood the test of time and is a good film.

Bridal Boot Camp

Plot

Andy is going to marry Jordan. She works in her mother's wedding dress shop and will make both her and her best friend's wedding dresses. Her best friend is considering going to boot camp for brides-to-be and Andy is hesitant but when she realizes there are things she doesn't know about Jordan, she decides to go too. However, this only adds to her musings. The whole thing is also complicated by Casey who delivers flowers to the mother's shop and suddenly also to the "boot camp".

Short review

This teeters on the edge towards a 3 but it still gets a 4 because it straightens up a bit in the second half.

Feeling Butterflies

Plot

Emily has a company that raises butterflies that are released as decoration at posh events. However, she has received competition from another less serious company that keeps lower prices. However, Emily has landed a job at a birthday party for Amanda. There she meets Amanda's father Garret, who is a widower and has recently moved to the city from New York. Amanada loves butterflies and gets to come to Emily's butterfly farm and the friendship with Amanda and Garret starts. The next challenge will be a celebrity wedding where the bride wants a copious amount of butterflies.

Short review

The whole concept of multiple companies whose sole business idea is to grow butterflies to rent out for various events is so stupendously stupid it makes you laugh. The film doesn't hold up otherwise either.

Miracle On 34th Street (1994)

Plot

Dorey Walker is a marketing manager at a large department store that organizes a Christmas parade every year. This year, however, Santa is drunk and unruly, and Dorey hires Kriss, who happens to be there and looks like Santa. Not only for the parade but also for being Santa in the department store. Dorey lives alone with her daughter, Susan, and often sees lawyer Bryan but is afraid to commit. Kriss becomes very popular as Santa but the rival department store tries to destroy his reputation and it is Bryan who has to defend him in court. Meanwhile, Susan wishes that she would get a father, a house and a little brother for Christmas from Kriss.

A well-made and funny film with a lot of feel-good. A remake of a 1947 classic and a good one at that.

The Christmas Pitch

Plot

Becca and William are colleagues and compete for the same promotion. After a failed pitch they make together, their boss thinks they lack the Christmas spirit and sends them both to William's hometown of Kringle Lake to find it. As there are no hotel rooms, Becca is forced to live with William's slightly odd family.

Even if you understand what they meant with the plot, they fail miserably.

The Wedding Fix

Plot

Well-planned TV host Gwen is dumped by her well-known baseball-playing boyfriend when he doesn't feel like he fits into her plan. To top it all off, the whole thing is filmed and leaked on social media. To get away, Gwen travels a little earlier to her best friend's wedding. There she is drawn into the wedding preparations when the wedding planner has quit. She is set to solve various tasks together with the groom's best man, Josh. Josh lives life a little more day by day and Gwen, who wants a plan for everything, has trouble dealing with it. But things slowly starts to get better.

Short review

Although the film starts off a little rough, it picks up gradually and the end result is a good romantic film.

Royal Blossom

Plot

Princess Elena has grown up with a great interest in flowers but this is not viewed positively by her family, especially not by her brother who is also allergic to pollen. For many years, Elena has studied in the United States, but now she, together with her brother, must represent her country on a trip around Europe. She brings her best friend Daisy along as a secretary on the trip. In London, it turns out there is a flower festival going on and Elena signs up as a competitor incognito. There she meets Adam, a journalist who will write about the festival but also about Princess Elena…

Short review

The concept of unknown European kingdoms has a hard time being genuine and "believable" and this one is no different. But it still has certain qualities, which is why it still gets a 3.

The Clue to Love

Plot

Audry gets a chance at a promotion if she goes to Hope Cove and writes an article about the local paper that just won a Pulitzer Prize for Best Local Paper. She will spend a week at the newspaper and there she meets Morgan, who is the editor-in-chief but also the son of the newspaper's owner and manager. Audry soon takes an interest in the newspaper's column where readers get good advice. She wants to follow up on some of the successful advice given. What Audry doesn't know is that the newspaper she works for is planning to buy out the local paper.

A reasonably okay film but it goes a little too easy, there is very little chewiness.

Christmas Lodge

Plot

When Mary and her boyfriend are out hiking, they meet a girl who has hurt her ankle. They help her home to her father Jack who runs the old Christmas Lodge that Mary's family used to visit when she was a child. The Lodge is quite run down and in need of refurbishment but Jack cannot afford to carry out any repairs. Mary, who has many fond memories of the place, sets out to recruit help to refurbish the place and save the business.

A rather lousy movie filled with lots of religious pointers.

Hot Chocolate Holiday

Plot

Colette runs a Café known for its hot chocolate made from a recipe Colette got from her mother. Next door opens Marcus patisserie that focuses on baked goods. However, Colette soon discovers that he also serves hot chocolate that tastes suspiciously like her own. The competition between them heats up when Colette notices that she is losing customers. When Marcus' patisserie suddenly suffers a fire, however, everything changes.

A decently good romantic movie even if the ending might be a bit strange (it definitely works but starting the job without having the deal ready...)

Jingle Bell Princess

Plot

Through a misunderstanding, Princess Amelia is left behind when her private jet takes off. Stuck in a blizzard in the small town of Tucker, Maine, she must accompany Annie Cutler home for the night. Annie lives with her son Sam and his daughter Sophie. Sam is refurbishing his house but things are slow since he lost his wife. Amelia is forced to stay longer as the blizzard worsens but she hides the fact that she is a princess as she wants to avoid attention.

Another film with a royalty from Europe. And this one doesn't work either.

Christmas Explorer

Plot

Emilia works as a cartographer and before Christmas she is tasked with making a treasure map for children of the North Pole. She wants to try to include as many facts as she can on the map and when it turns out that the famous travel photographer Drew Campbell is visiting the city, Emilia's boss suggests that she collaborate with him as he has visited the North Pole several times. Emilia thinks Drew is quite rude and is sceptical about cooperating, but when she sets up an agenda and forces him to cooperate, another form of tension is created between them.

One can debate whether her treasure maps are more work of art than a map. The film is okay but not great.

Mistletoe Mixup

Plot

Holly makes a Christmas wish to meet Mr. Right. The only problem is that she happens to repeat the wish. When she later goes to get a Christmas tree, she meets Tom who seems very nice and he gets her number. On the way home, she later meets Austin who helps her with the tree and they get along very well and she gets his number. Then when Austin doesn't respond to her text messages, she accepts an invitation from Tom to celebrate Christmas with his family. Imagine Holly's surprise when she gets there and discovers that Tom and Austin are brothers.

Much ado About Christmas

Plot

Haley is the daughter of successful businesswoman Leona Lloyd and is very involved in her charity work. At a gala hosted by her mother, she meets Claud who is there on assignment from his marketing firm to try to meet Leona and get a chance to make a pitch. Haley and Claud immediately take a liking to each other and start dating, but Haley does not dare to mention that she is Leona's daughter because she is afraid that it will complicate the relationship. The longer it goes on, the more difficult the situation becomes. How will Claud react when he learns the truth?

A well-made film without major complications. It's good despite a Claud who seriously needs a new haircut.

Royally Wrapped for Christmas

Lindsay leads the New York office of a global charity run by the Royal House of Veronia. She is called to Veronia to participate in the 100-year celebration of the business. There she meets Prince Aiden whom she once met in New York without knowing who he was. Aiden gets involved in the preparations for the celebration and makes sure to spend a lot of time with Lindsay whom he really likes. At the celebration, however, there are plans for him to get engaged to Princess Dahlia, whom he has never met. Can he avoid this in the tradition-bound realm?

Another unknown European kingdom. It rarely turns out well and not this one either.

Falling in Love at Christmas

At a Christmas party, Miranda, dresses as Mrs. Claus and Paul dresses as Mr. Claus. They have a great night but accidentally get separated without finding out who the other really is. Both are app developers with competing apps to help people find perfect gifts to give. They have completely different attitudes to what are perfect gifts and they really dislike each other when they meet in work life without knowing that they have met before. Suddenly their respective companies are bought up by the same group and they are forced to work together against their will. At the same time, they try to get in touch with Mrs. and Mr. Claus, who they, on the other hand, really liked.

It's okay, even if it feels a little doubtful at the end.

The Enchanted Christmas Cake

Plot

After Gwen's grandmother passed away, she took over her bakery. Before Christmas, the bakery's signature is Grandma's famous Liebeskuchen and Gwen desperately tries to recreate it, but unfortunately Grandma's recipe is missing the last ingredient. At the same time, the city is visited by the famous celebrity chef Danté, who will film his Christmas special in the city. The show's producer, Gavin, tries to get Gwen to appear on the show with her Liebeskuchen but she doesn't want to share the secret of the cake. Gavin now struggles between Dante's expectations and Gwen's reluctance as he falls more and more for Gwen.

The Holiday Fix Up

Plot

Sam has her own TV show as an interior designer, but when she doesn't get the chance to do the Christmas special she's been hoping for, she lets her uncle talk her into coming home and helping repair his storm-damaged Inn. When she arrives, she learns that the uncle has hired Coop as a builder. The problem is that Sam and Coop were a couple before Sam started his TV career and Coop broke up. Now they must work together despite unresolved conflicts. To improve her chances with the TV company, Sam also films the repairs and posts them on social media, which has the effect that her followers notice the tensions between Sam and Coop.

Another movie where you can ponder upon why they broke up in the first place.

The Holiday Train

Plot

Danielle brings her son Paul home to her mother for Christmas for the first time in years. Danielle wants Paul to experience a traditional Christmas in her hometown like the Christmases she had when she was a child. A significant part of that Christmas celebration was the mini train that was part of the festivities. Once home, she realizes that the entire town's Christmas celebration is threatened as the town has problems with funding. The mini train hasn't been around for many years, something that Danielle finds especially difficult as her father was involved in running it, but he passed away last year. When they have to fix her father's toy train, she gets in touch with Kevin, who runs the town's toy store, and she realizes that he might be able to find out where the mini train has gone.

A romantic movie that is good. Extra good for train geeks.

A Match Made At Christmas

Plot

Holly's great aunt, Lillian, is known for matching people with great success. So she has, among other things, done with Holly's brother and her best friend who is now getting married. At a party for the newlyweds, Lillian pairs Holly with Chris, Holly's brother's college friend and future best man. But Holly and Chris really don't like each other and really don't want to be together. Since Holly is the bridesmaid and Chris is the best man, they now have to work together but it all becomes very embarrassing when those around them expect them to be a couple and the animosity between them only gets worse.

A really good movie (for being in this genre).

Candy Coated Christmas

Plot

Molly needs money to invest in her new business but her father's company is threatened with bankruptcy. The only option seems to be to sell her mother's old house in Peppermint Hollow that Holly inherited. Instead of going to Hawaii as planned, she now has to go there to sell the house. In the house lives her mother's childhood friend and her son Noah and Noah's niece Gracie. They run a mint farm there that has fallen on bad times and now Molly is faced with the problem of having to take the house from them. Due to bad weather, Molly is forced to live with them, which doesn't make it any easier. Is there a way to salvage the situation for everyone?

Acting efforts etc. are decent but the whole story wobbles.

Christmas at Maple Creek

Plot

Diana is a successful author of a series of romantic books set in the 19th century. She is very fond of Greg who is the photo model who is on the cover of all her books. Before Christmas, Diana now needs time to write and heads to Maple Creek, a village that has been preserved since the 19th century where she hopes to get inspiration. Once there, she realizes that the village is threatened with closure and she gets involved in trying to come up with an event before Christmas to draw visitors there. She gets, among other things, help from Carter who is temporarily the village blacksmith. After a bad start, she starts to like Carter more and more. But who is right for her? The "perfect" Greg or the slightly troublesome Carter?

The movie turned out to be quite good as a romantic film if one manage to get past Jake Epstein's somewhat sluggish style.

A Christmas Prince

Plot

Amber suddenly gets the chance to go out and make a real report. She is sent to Aldovia to report on Prince Richard, who must decide whether or not to ascend the throne before Christmas Eve. When he doesn't show up at the press conference, Amber sneaks into the castle to try to get a report anyway. There she becomes the mistaken for Princess Emily's new private tutor and sees the chance to get a real scoop. In her new position, however, she soon realizes that there is more behind the facade surrounding Prince Richard and the whole change of throne. However, will they forgive her when they realize that she is actually a reporter?

Another unknown kingdom in Europe and another film that doesn't hold up.

Christmas in Washington

Plot

Emily wants to start her own interior design firm and is suddenly given the chance to be in charge of the Christmas decorations of the Belmric Embassy in Washington for their annual charity fundraising gala. This could be the job that gets Emily going. However, the new ambassador, Magnus, is skeptical about Christmas and wants to keep the costs of the event down. However, Emily manages to make him slowly realize that a festive atmosphere is beneficial for the fundraiser. In addition, Emily is enthusiastically supported by Magnus's daughter. It also gets a little tense when the big donor "Big Dan" turns out to be a rather shady type.

How many unknown kingdoms are there in Europe? Always one more. The film does not rise above the average for this type..

A Christmas To Remember

Plot

Jennifer's career as a TV personality is taking off, but it's also taking a toll on her strength. Her manager lends her a cabin in Aspen for Christmas so she can get some rest. On the way there, she crashes the car. Confused, she steps onto the road and is almost hit by the vet John. Jennifer suffers from memory loss and since it is a snowstorm, John takes her home to his family, he is single with three children. While Jennifer recovers and they try to find out who she is, she gets to know the family and is drawn into their Christmas celebrations.

Could, maybe, have been something but the acting balances on the fence. You also wonder why the police don't find the car wreck, John should have been able to tell them where he picked her up.

Christmas Jars

Plot

Hope is a so-called foundling who grew up with her single foster mother. When her mother first dies and Hope is then burglarized, a kind soul leaves a jar full of coins and bills outside her door. Hope, who is also trying to become a reporter, searches for where the jar labeled "Christmas Jar" comes from and discovers that she is far from alone in having received one. She gets the chance to write her first report on the phenomenon and in her research she finds the Maxwell family who seem to be the origin of the custom. Little does she know what this will lead to.

A film filled with kind people and feel-good. An extra twist at the end elevates it even more.

Charlie is a university professor who has given up all attempts to find love as he has an amazing ability to fail with all his dating attempts. As help, she gets Philomena, who also wants the job. With great enthusiasm, Ruby tackles the task, but it turns out to be more difficult than she thought. Charlie is reluctant after all the failures and Ruby has also agreed not to use magic. Even more problems arise when Ruby becomes more and more fond of Charlie.

A rather cute and funny movie that was better and above all funnier than I expected. Melanie Stone does a positive and enthusiastic, but not very skilled, assistant to Cupid.

Ghosting: The Spirit of Christmas

Plot

Jess has a first date with Ben that really goes beyond expectations. On the way home, she is hit and dies. Ben thinks she's "ghosting" him when she doesn't respond to his message (not knowing how right he is). But after the funeral, her ghost appears at her best friend Kara's. She has not been able to "move on" but there is something that is holding her back. Kara, who is the only one who can see her, tries to help her and with the help of Kara's spiritual guide Chrissy, they find out that it is love that keeps Jess going. At the same time, they discover that Ben can also see Jess. Can he, through love, help Jess move on?

Love Always, Santa

Lilly is worried about her mother Celia after Lilly's father died. Before Christmas, she writes to Santa and wishes that her mother could be happy again. The letter ends up with the writer Jake, who works to answer children's letters to Santa. He writes an understanding letter back from Santa to Lilly. Lilly shows the letter to her mother who is so moved that she writes a thank you note back to "Santa". They begin exchanging letters intensively and find each other anonymously. Everyday life comes in between, however, and Celia stops sending letters. Jake is puzzled and decides to go to the town where Lilly and Celia live to try to find them.

A really good romantic film that is just enough complicated with a skilled Isadora Swann as the daughter. A well done feel-good film.

Love Knots

Plot

Just like her father, Jodie has become a sailmaker. Something she works with in the family business at the same time as she spends her free time completing the restoration of a sailboat that her father started. But now their entire business is threatened by a project to develop the entire port area. Jodie is committed to trying to preserve the character of the harbor and their business. She is pitted against Will, the architect hired for the project. To influence him, she spends time making him see the charm and benefits of parts of the old port. Maybe he discovers more charm than that.

A relatively generic romantic film. It delivers what it should in a nice way.

Memories of Christmas

Plot

Noelle grew up with a mother who went all in for Christmas every year and organized a Christmas party for the whole town. Now her mother has passed away and Noelle is a skilled investment broker in San Francisco. Before Christmas, her boss tells her to go home to Michigan and Noelle takes it as an opportunity to sell her mother's house. After her first night in the house, she is woken up by a man named Dave putting up Christmas lights on the house. It turns out he's doing it to keep her mother's traditions alive. Noelle, who is quite tired of her mother's Christmas traditions, asks him to stop. But after a while she is persuaded to let him continue and soon she is sucked into the town's celebrations.

A decent romantic film with traditional Christmas celebrations.

My Christmas Prince

Samantha has been dating diplomat Alexander in New York for some time. Before Christmas she goes home to her small hometown and her parents. However, Alexander surprises her by following her. When he appears he is recognized by one of her childhood friends as Prince Alexander of Madelvia. If Samantha was surprised that he showed up, it's nothing compared to how surprised she'll be when she learns that she's dating a prince. But will their relationship survive this news?

Lizzie is to get married at Christmas, but all preparations are hampered by the fact that she cannot sleep at night. They try one more time, and when it really seems like they're putting each other to sleep, Lizzie offers to lend money to Billie, who needs it to start his own bar, in exchange for him helping her sleep before the wedding. However, the closer the wedding gets, the more complicated it becomes.

Now June is assigned to go home and try to recruit Sally to their publishing house. If she succeeds, it could be a promotion. Back home, she meets her childhood friend Blake. When they challenge each other with wishes as usual, Blake wishes for June to have to agree to all the Christmas activities, something she doesn't have time for as she has to work. But suddenly she finds that she can't say no, against her will she accepts everything that is proposed to her…

A reasonably good romantic film about one's ambitions getting in the way.

Sweet as Maple Syrup

Plot

Rachell and her brother run the maple syrup business they took over from their parents. It's time for the first harvest of the season, but the trees are not leaving any syrup. Rachell's brother convinces her that they should get the help of an arborist even though she is hesitant. By chance, Derek, who is a professor of the subject, happens to be visiting the city for a project he is working on. Rachell hires him even though she doesn't like his attitude. The more they work with each other, the more they start to appreciate each other.

One is tempted to say: A syrupy-sweet story. It is simple and works as it should.

The Royal Treatment

Izzy runs a less glamorous hair salon in New York. By mistake, she is hired by Prince Thomas's butler, Walter, to cut the prince's hair. When she cuts him, she gets annoyed at his attitude and walks away. But Thomas finds her interesting and ends up hiring Izzy and her colleagues to his home country to do all the hairstyles for the upcoming wedding between him and his fiancé. Izzy arrives as a breath of fresh air and puts everything up side down, including the planned wedding.

A rather infantile story, but if you are prepared to take it for what it is, it it works but only just.

The Secret Sauce

Laura, who works in marketing for a large food company, is sent out from their headquarters in Chicago to oversee a BBQ competition they are sponsoring. The competition is held by Jim who runs a restaurant with a famous BBQ sauce. Laura will not only oversee the festival because they sponsor it, but is also tasked with trying to sign a licensing agreement with Jim to get the recipe for his famous sauce. Laura soon finds herself in internal conflict between her mission and charming Jim's reluctance to reveal his secret recipe.

A pretty good romantic movie. The theme is familiar, the big company that wants to take over the small local business.

The Wedding Veil

Avery and her friends Emma and Tracy buys an antique wedding veil together when they have their annual reunion. The veil is said to have a magical property that whoever wears it will meet their true love. It's Avery who brings the veil home after a day in San Francisco where she met the somewhat mysterious Peter. At home in Boston, she works at a museum. There, Peter appears again. It turns out that he is on the board of the museum and now they are going to work together on a big event. Things get complicated when they get romantically involved in San Francisco, but Peter thinks Avery is going to get married after seeing the veil.

A good romantic movie. It is the first film in a series of three around this veil.

The Winter Palace

Emily, who is about to write her second book, has developed writer's block. For a change of scenery, she is persuaded by her best friend to take a job as a property manager in an empty luxury house up in the mountains. Just when she has made herself at home, the owner of the house appears, Prince Henry and his closest staff. When Emily tries to leave, it turns out that the contract she signed states that she will work for the royal family if they come to visit. Now she is forced to try to serve the prince while trying to write.

She brings her best friend and together they make sure to get the assignment from the famous singer Tiffanie to organize the annual reunion party for her family. An assignment that Amy would have done for the company she worked for. To make the party good, Amy gets to meet the family and thus she gets to know Tiffanie's cousin Calvin. He pitches in and helps Amy prepare for the party.

Writing Around the Christmas Tree

Mikaela is a successful novelist. Writing the last book in her first series, she suffers from writer's block. Encouraged by her assistant, she decides to go home to her father's place to revive her late mother's writer's cottage that she used to arrange every Christmas. Among the authors who are invited, the slightly troublesome non-fiction writer Levi manages to squeeze in. He wants to write about Mikaela's mother, who also was a famous writer. Will his questioning make Mikaela's writing block go away and how will she react when she learns what he intends to write about?

A Christmas Duet

Avrie runs an inn and in the run-up to Christmas, she's having lots to do. On the one hand, she receives a visit from a hotel critic from a newspaper who could nominate her inn as the winner of this year's competition with a nice sum of money, but she also takes it upon herself to organize the town's Christmas celebrations as well. In the middle of this, Jesse shows up, he's out on tour and his assistant has booked him into the Avries inn. It gets extra complicated as Avrie and Jesse used to be a duet that had great success with a Christmas song, before Avrie dropped out ended her career as an artist.

It works well on some level, but I think it still leaves more to be desired.

Autumn Dreams

When Annie and Ben are young they get married but Annie's father thinks they are too young so he makes them annul the marriage. Now Annie is doing research on the farm her father left her and she is engaged to Joe. One day she suddenly receives divorce papers and an order to appear before a judge in New York. Puzzled, she goes there and discovers that her and Ben's marriage was never dissolved. Ben, who is now a successful investment broker is about to get married and then discovered that he was still married. Now Annie and Ben must have their marriage dissolved but old feelings are still alive and there are unresolved conflicts.

Short review

A well msde romantic film that does not fall into the usual framework. Both are busy in their respective relationships and things get complicated with unresolved history.

Butlers in Love

Plot

Emma has dreamed of becoming a butler since she was little. After hard work and studies, she finally manages to get into the prestigious American Butler Academy. She has to work hard and it's not going so well. At the same time, she is annoyed by Henry, another student, who doesn't seem to be taking the course seriously and seems to want to be a chef instead. However, she is advised by the course leader to take advice from Henry to get better. Emma and Henry begin meeting outside of class to practice Emma's skills. This not only leads to Emma getting better, but to both of them opening their eyes to where they are really going.

A decently good romantic film if you can overlook the slightly silly idea of an American butler school.

Christmas In The Smokies

Plot

Shelby and her parents run a berry farm that makes jam. They are threatened with foreclosure as the local bank has been pushed harder by the city's entrepreneur Mr. Baxter who is after the land. Before Christmas, the town is visited by Mason, who grew up there but has since become a famous country star. Things get even hader for Shelby because she and Mason were together before he abandoned her when he left town. It doesn't get any better when Shelby's dad invites him to stay with them. Now Shelby must fight to save their farm while dealing with her anger and disappointment with Mason.

An OK romantic movie. Once again, an old love that needs to be revived.

Dan in Real Life

Plot

Dan struggles to be a good provider to his three daughters after his wife passed away. He takes them to the big annual family reunion at his parents' house. On a trip into the city, Dan happens upon Marie in the book store. They immediately make good contact and have coffee together. Excited by this meeting, Dan returns to the family only to discover that Marie is his brother Mitch's new girlfriend. The situation becomes difficult to handle in the midst of the intrusive company of the large family. The tension between Dan and Marie is there but as long as she is Mitch's girlfriend they can't do anything about it.

A well made romantic film with good performances from everyone. It's a rather musty story with love and conflicts.

Don't Forget I Love You

When Taylor turns 30, she receives a time capsule left to her by her late mother. In it there are also six challenges for Taylor to complete. Her life is very set and orderly and her comfort zone is quite small and the challenges are there for her to break the pattern. The first challenge is to befriend someone she doesn't know. As it happens, she befriends her new neighbor Josh and his daughter Chloe. Josh also helps Taylor with the subsequent challenges that are not easy for Taylor. Will she pass the final challenge, perhaps the hardest of all?

A relatively uncomplicated story with a lot of feel-good.

A Lot Like Christmas

Jessica and her family, the Roberts, run a Christmas tree farm in a quaint town outside of New York. Now a large garden chain opens in town and they send their marketing specialist, Clay, over there, whose first trick is to start selling cheap Christmas trees to draw people to the store. This soon threatens the existence of the Roberts family firm. Clay and Jessica find themselves in a marketing war at the same time as they begin to fall for each other despite their competition.

A decent romantic film where, of course, things sort themselves out at the end without anyone losing. Easter egg: 50 seconds into the film comes a very short clip from a street in Sweden.

A Very Merry Bridesmaid

For Leah, her 30th birthday is a milestone. But it's not enough that her birthday is on Christmas Eve, that same year her brother has decided to get married on Christmas Eve. Leah has always been there for everyone and put her family first and is committed to making it a great wedding. Before the wedding Drew arrives, he will be best man. Leah has always had a soft spot for Drew ever since he was best friends with her brother during their childhood. Now Drew decides to make Leah's 30th birthday special despite the big wedding.

A good romantic movie. I liked how it developed alongside the wedding with a lot of feel-good and without unnecessary, artificial conflicts.

Christmas CEO

Chris has built a successful toy manufacturing business and now she gets the chance to merge it with a larger toy company and at the same time take over as CEO of everything together. However, she must obtain a signature from her former partner, Joe, in order to complete the merger. Joe left their company many years ago because he didn't understand business. In order to agree to sign, he now forces Chris to participate in his "toy-drive" before Christmas.

The 1950s called and wanted their movie back. The story is so embarrassing that it's painful. It's all about Chris forgetting all her ambitions and idiot Joe being right. One of the absolute worst movies on the list. (Not the worst production quality but the plot is awful).

Christmas in the Pines

Plot

Ariel buys a cabin as a surprise for her family before Christmas. After she bought it, she discovers that Mark has too. The mysterious seller has sold to both of them and legally they both own the house, but if one of them were to leave the property, it passes to the other party. Now they are both forced to live there while they try to figure it all out. Respective families are called in as support, but they have such a good time together that Ariel and Mark get no support in their competition for the house.

A good romantic film that delivers a lot of feel-good and some funny moments.

A Dickens of a Holiday!

Plot

Cassie has moved back to her hometown after trying to become a director on Broadway. Now she is to direct "A Christmas Carol" at the local theatre when the lead actor loses his voice. Cassie is tasked with trying to get movie star Jake, who grew up in the town, to come and play the lead role. To Cassie's surprise, he volunteers. He wants to show that he can do something other than action roles. The problem is that Cassie and Jake were together at school and Cassie isn't too convinced that it's a good idea for them to try to work together.

A romantic film that holds up even if Jake is a bit too cocky as a movie star.

Eight Gifts of Hanukkah

He is fashinated by her dating life where she tries to date two different men, Adam and Tom, and at the same time her ex-husband, Nigel, reappears and shows signs of repentment. Before Hanukkah, Sarah begins to receive an anonymous gift for each day leading up to the holiday. But who is this mysterious man who sends her perfect gifts?

Every Time a Bell Rings

The three sisters adopted sisters Charlotte, Emily and Nora used to have an annual treasure hunt arranged by their father every Christmas. Now they have grown up and gone their separate ways, but they are reunited for Christmas. For various reasons, they have unresolved conflicts between them, but when they suddenly get a new treasure hunt from their deceased father, they are forced to deal with it and find ways back. Maybe it makes Emily be more honest with her husband, Nora find her way in life and maybe it makes Charlotte realize that her childhood friend Liam is more than a friend.

A decent romantic film that might have a little too much going on at the same time.

Farm to Fork to Love

Plot

Alice is a sous chef at a top restaurant in New York and is also in a relationship with the restaurant's chef and owner, Bret. As sous chef, however, she is not allowed to develop her own style, but must follow the recipes. When, somewhat surprisingly, she receives an invitation to be a judge in a cooking competition, she chooses to go to it instead of accompanying Bret to one of his events. At the competition, she reconnects with Christian, with whom she went to cooking school. His aunt is the one who organizes the competition and he is also the judge.

I gave this movie a poor rating but raised it a bit after skimming it again. Perhaps there was a reason for the original rating that I have now suppressed.

Mistletoe and Molly

Plot

Molly scrapes by as a waitress while looking for marketing jobs, anything that doesn't involve her having to work for her father who runs a successful marketing company. When one of the cafe's regulars, the attractive Aiden, overhears that she can't afford to redeem her car from the repair shop, he offers her an extra tip, but she refuses to accept it, even though her friend at the cafe, Cameron, tries to get her to accept it. Then to Mollys irritation Aiden redeems the car for her instead. Tentatively, Molly and Aiden begin to get to know each other, although it is complicated by the fact that Aiden turns out to be best friends with the person who is considering hiring Molly for a marketing job, and Molly really wants to get the job on her own merits.

Short review

A good romantic film where they are both a bit tentative and cautious. Good that Molly really wants to succeed on her own terms.

Sister Swap: A Hometown Holiday

Plot

Sisters Jennifer and Meg are very close even though they don't live in the same city. Jennifer lives in Salt Lake City where she runs a restaurant she started with her now deceased husband. Before Christmas, however, she goes home to Hazelwood with her son Simon. Once there, she realizes that her uncle's old cinema is threatened by being taken over by a large chain. When she wants to make sure the movie theater stays as it is and wants to give one last performance for Christmas, Meg offers to go and take care of Jennifer's restaurant. Jennifer gets help from her old debate nemesis from school, Eric.

A pretty good romantic movie. One half of two movies that take place at the same time (see Sister Swap: Christmas in the City). The better half I would say.

Sister Swap: Christmas in the City

Plot

Sisters Jennifer and Meg are very close even though they don't live in the same city. Meg remained in Hazelwood where she helps her parents with their bakery. When Jennifer wants to spend time in Hazelwood, Meg offers to go to Salt Lake City and take care of Jennifer's restaurant, which will enter a local competition where the winner has a chance to win money for charity. She gets good help from Joe who works for Jennifer.

Short review

The movie, in my opinion, is not as good as its sister movie (see Sister Swap: A Hometown Holiday). Maybe it's because I saw the other one first, but I didn't find this one as engaging.

The Christmas Contest

Plot

Lara has just become CEO of the company and her ex, Ben, works in marketing at another company. They are very different with Lara being very organized and Ben never planning anything. Now they will both participate in a competition where their respective companies can get good publicity and the winner gets money for charity. Lara wants to be able to donate the money to the activity center for the elderly where her mother usually goes, and Ben wants to get it to the youth activity he is involved in.

No, this one wasn't worth while. Ben, in particular, comes across as a rather rude idiot.

The Hating Game

Plot

Lucy and Joshua work together after a merger of their respective publishers. They get on each other's nerves and their fight becomes known throughout the office. Things don't get any better when an opportunity opens up with an office manager position that both want. But their animosity is also a form of love-hate. Now they must deal with their competition while also being drawn to each other.

Short review

Better than expected. Lucy Hale in particular does a good job as Lucy. Their love-hate relationship is both funny and fairly believable, and the film contains several good moments.

Safe Haven

Plot

Katie arrives in the small coastal town by bus and hardly any luggage. She gets a job at the local restaurant and rents a dilapidated house to live in. In the small town, she soon gets to know Alex and his two children and also her nearest neighbor Jo, who lives outside the town herself. She hesitantly begins to feel at home and also begins to cautiously get to know Alex. But at the same time, she is being chased by her past, which constantly threatens to resurface. Does she have to run away again?

The film is good romantically but also with drama. I liked it and also a twist at the end which some may think is a bit too much but which I thought was good.

A Godwink Christmas: Miracle of Love

Plot

Joy has just finished her nursing education and is thinking of trying to get overseas service. Eric dropped out of the priesthood and is now trying to find work as a writer. They both get to see information about a community program with mentoring opportunities for a few weeks before Christmas in Oshkosh. They apply and both are accepted. In the program they must, among other things, help a family whose house has burned down. Joy and Eric meet and get to know each other in the program and their respective lives take on new paths.

Short review

A really trashy film that lacks empathy and is very overexplained. The religious undertones shines through.

A Royal Queens Christmas

Plot

Prince Colin is sent to New York for a visit there by the King and Queen of Exter. In New York, he runs into Dee Dee, who works at a cafe, when she delivers her cousin's desserts to the hotel where he lives. He accidentally destroys them and when Dee Dee suddenly needs a pianist for the rehearsal with the children's choir she is training for a charity concert, she recruits Colin, not knowing who he really is. Colin gets involved in the concert but perhaps mainly in Dee Dee. But how will she react when she learns who he really is?

Films with princes from unknown countries in Europe have the odds against them right from the start. This movie also does a worse job than others like it.

A Christmas Miracle For Daisy

Plot

Whitney has an interior design firm with her friend Andi. Suddenly they get the opportunity to decorate one of the city's nicest houses by Andi's friend Eric (who is also fond of Andi). Eric has been given the task of remodelling the house. However, it turns out that the person who is going to move in is Conner, who Whitney was dating a long time ago but with whom she broke up. She decides that Andi can take the assignment but Andi gets sick and Whitney now has to work with Conner who also turns out to now have a daughter, Daisy.

Short review

A very good romantic movie. The actors make it believable (if you keep in mind that it's a romantic film) and the story is well crafted. It even delivers a cute side romance (two for the price of one).

A Christmas Proposal

Plot

Maria wants to start a 'food truck' business but can't afford it, so she spends her time as a driver in a Ûber-like company. Just before Christmas, she gets a long drive with the lawyer Julian, who is going home to his family. He has to defend his position in the family business as his father announced that he will soon hand over the company as he intends to retire. Through a misunderstanding, his family believes that Maria is his girlfriend, which Julian realizes could be to his advantage. He persuades Maria to stay and continue the charade in exchange for him helping her with her dream of a Food Truck.

Short review

A romantic film in the "we pretend to be together" category. They manages to take the whole thing 'on the fly' (they have no time to prepare) and as a romantic film, it is good.

A Christmas Star

Plot

Astronomer Madeline predicts a meteor shower that will occur just days before Christmas. In order to better study it, she goes to Summit View where you can best see it. On the way there, she meets ranger Ryan, who helps her when she gets a puncture. It turns out that he can also help her to the best place to scout for the meteor shower. Now she just has to convince the city to turn off the Christmas lights in order to see the celestial phenomenon. Ryan and his daughter Celeste help and they get to know each other well during the week.

Short review

No, the whole concept doesn't work. That a meteor shower would be so important and Ryan's way of not understanding that she takes her job seriously. Etc.

Angel Falls Christmas

Doctor Ally has just received a promotion but finds it difficult to let go of the shifts she used to work. Her boyfriend Josh gets tired of her never having time for their relationship so instead of proposing, he breaks up. He wishes Ally understood that work is not everything and Ally wishes he understood why work is so important. When Josh has finished, she sets out to show that she can indeed celebrate Christmas, something she didn't have time for before. She is helped by the angel Gabriel. But can Gabriel manage to lead Ally down the right path without falling for her? Can Ally win Josh back?

A fairly useless story where it's more about the rather silly angel Gabriel and his struggle not to fall for Ally and at the same time lead her right.

Holiday in Santa Fe

Plot

Tony runs a Christmas shop with a Mexican twist in Santa Fe with his sister and father. Now a representative from the large company Warm Wishes is coming to Santa Fe to possibly buy their company. Tony is willing to listen to what they have to offer while his sister is negative. Belinda arrives from Chicago and is tasked with buying their company before the New Year. Tony wants to show her how good their business is to try to maintain the company's successful profile even after the purchase. Belinda gets involved in various Christmas celebrations and gets a new view of the business and of Tony.

Short review

It's a little different with Christmas in New Mexico but as a romantic movie it's pretty average. Not a great epic.

It Takes a Christmas Village

Plot

Alexandra is mayor just like her father before her. Now the shops in the center have got problems as a road construction diverts the traffic outside the center and they lose business. In an attempt to help the city survive the road construction, Alexandra decides to create a Christmas market in the city. The best place for one would be the old mill that is still owned by the family that shut it down. Alexandra seeks out the son of the family, Darcy, to convince him to lend the mill for the Christmas market. He lives in seclusion with, as it turns out, his grandmother and is reluctant to volunteer the mill after old conflicts with the town. However, Alexandra does not give up and starts working on convincing Darcy.

Short review

A decent romantic film but doesn't really engage. The road construction is supposed to be to repair the "bridge", but it mostly looks like a silly little road repair that is nowhere near a bridge and would not hinder any traffic.

Joy for Christmas

Plot

Holly gets fed up with her hopeless boss and quits. Her sister wants her to come back to the family charity business, which she left after a disagreement with her father about the charity's direction. When it now turns out that the company has been defrauded on this year's Christmas investment, Holly wants to start a charity event to save the company's reputation. To attract people, she wants to involve the baseball star Jack, who also had his charity defrauded by the same villains. Jack, who doesn't get involved with Christmas celebrations, is hesitant but Holly convinces him to let her get him into the Christmas spirit.

A fairly mundane story that feels rather artificial.

Mistletoe in Montana

Plot

Merry runs a ranch in Montana where she welcomes vacationing visitors. Before Christmas they are visited by Mark and his two children and their nanny Debbie. Mark and his family get to experience ranch life and also participate in this year's Christmas parade. Merry and Mark spend a lot of time with each other and a mutual liking arises. And what happens between Debbie and Merry's cook Jasper.

Short review

This film crew has probably never visited a ranch. Especially not in Montana. Just the opening scene where Merry is aimlessly riding around among the ranch's loose horses that go where they want says a lot about the movie.

The Nine Kittens of Christmas

Plot

Marilee is going home for Christmas, but her boyfriend is staying in Florida at their shared vet's office. Meanwhile, her ex-boyfriend, Zachary, plans to go away over Christmas so she hopes to avoid him. But just as he is about to leave, Zachary finds nine kittens in a box outside the fire station where he works. He decides to stay and find them families to adopt them. It doesn't take long until Marilee, who is a veterinarian after all, is drawn into the search.

This is actually a sequel to The Nine Lives Of Christmas. It does not reach to the same level though.

Time for Them to Come Home for Christmas

A woman is rescued from a river after a traffic accident. When she wakes up, she suffers from amnesia and she has also lost all her belongings so no one can identify her. The only clue that exists is a note with a Christmas party in Charleston. In an attempt to remember who she is, she wants to go there and is given a ride by nurse Paul, who is going to visit relatives over Christmas. Their journey will help 'Jane Doe' to remember but also Paul to come to grips with unresolved memories. And maybe they will also find each other.

Not a cinematic masterpiece, but a lot of feel-good and well executed.

'Tis the Season to be Merry

Plot

successful dating blogger, Merry has written a book about her successful relationship that resulted from her dating 'rules'. The only problem is that her fiance doesn't exist and the book is based on her dream image of a relationship. However, the publisher will not accept this and now Merry needs to get away to come up with an idea how to save the situation. She and her best friend, Darlene, (who also works at the publishing house) go to Darlene's parents' house for Christmas. There, Merry is confronted by Adam, Darlene's brother, who she almost got together with many years ago. Also entering the game is James, Darlene's ex. boyfriend, who suddenly seems interested in Merry.

A reasonably good romantic film where more than two "get each other" at the end.

A Kindhearted Christmas

Plot

Jamie has a hard time getting into the Christmas spirit after her husband died. However, her niece, who used to live with her but is now about to leave, after getting married, inspires her to make anonymous donations to spread Christmas cheer. This is picked up by Scott, who is a TV presenter. He comes to town to report on it and also try to find out who the secret donor is. There he meets Jamie, who has always followed his show and admired him from afar. Liking occurs and as he tries to find out the truth behind the donations, he starts dating Jamie.

Yes, but this movie delivers what it’s supposed to, with plenty of feel-good moments and good deeds.

A Picture Perfect Holiday

Plot

Gaby is a successful fashion photographer, but when she wants a permanent position at a magazine, they think she lacks breadth. She gets tips about a Christmas photography course up in the Rocky Mountains that could help her find the needed experience. She rents a cabin and goes there to get a chance at work. Once there, she discovers that the cabin has been double-booked and that nature photographer Sean has also rented it. Everything else is full and they are forced to share the cabin during the course. They are very different both as personalities but also as photographers. During the course, however, they learn that it can be rewarding.

Short review

The film holds up as a romantic film, even if it gets a little tiring with the craze for old cameras with film.

More Than I Wished For

Plot

Obstetrician Sawyer is under pressure to get a boyfriend. One day when she's out shopping for a friend's wedding gift with a colleague, the colleague suggests she register her own wedding gift account and scan everything she wants just to vent some frustration. The problem is that it leaks out and everyone thinks she has a secret fiance. To top it all off, the brother of one of her patients, Landon, is mistaken for her fiancé. However, he plays along to be fair. The whole thing spins out of control the closer you get to Christmas.

Short review

A sweet film with the hired help that over shines. An added bonus with their funny assistants.

Christmas By Chance

Plot

Chance has a gift shop with quirky and fine antique gifts. However, she finds it difficult to get the shop to turn around. But her assistant prints new business cards and creates a web presence to increase the number of visitors. One of the business cards accidentally ends up with the successful entrepreneur William, who wants to propose to his girlfriend, the photo model Leyla. He is looking for a first edition of "A Christmas Carrol" to give to Leyla which is why he seeks out Chance's store. When he meets her, he comes up with the idea of hiring her to help create the perfect atmosphere to propose.

Decent but I wasn't really hooked on the story.

Candy Cane Candidate

Plot

Julia has just lost a filling election in Boston. To recharge before the next election, she goes home to her parents over Christmas. At home, she runs into her school nemesis, Parker, who is now the principal of their old school. When she also discovers that he is standing in the mayoral election without an opponent, she candidates in the election against him. Everything reminds her of the time when they went to school. However, the campaigne means she will see Parker a lot and it wasn't just competition at school, there was something else between them too.

Christmas for Keeps

Plot

Avery, Ben, Mia, Sarah and Noah all had Mr. Massey as a school teacher. Now he has died and Avery tries to gather the old friends to honor their old teacher. Everyone is busy with their own lives and in addition there are unresolved frictions between the various friends. However, Avery manages to talk them into participating. All this puts a lot on the line and the friends have reason to try to solve their hidden problems.

Short review

The movie is a bit all over the place. There's a romance in the middle of it all but it's also a lot about the other problems too. It gets a little too cluttered.

Christmas Takes Flight

Plot

Jenny is the chief pilot of the family's airline and her father has just sold the company to a larger airline. Now Matt, who is the CEO of the large company, is coming to take over and make changes to increase profitability. One of the first things he does is to stop the annual charity flight that the company usually does every year. A tradition that Jenny's mother started. Jenny, with the help of the others at the company, is now trying to find another financing for the flight behind Matt's back, while Jenny is trying to get Matt to see more than just numbers.

Short review

A relatively okay romantic film with a lot of flying in it.

Timeless Love

Plot

Megan is pulled from her perfect life with husband and children to wake up from a coma after a car accident. To her great confusion, she learns that she is neither married nor has any children. However, her memories of it are still clear and distinct. To get on in life after her coma, she takes a temporary job as a receptionist at a small photo studio run by Thomas. To her unspeakable surprise, it was Thomas who was her husband that she remembers. However, he is completely unaware. How is she going to pull this off without everyone thinking she's crazy.

Short review

A really good movie. I have to admit that I thought this story was very questionable, but it is very well executed with good acting that really makes it believable (aside from the fact that such a future dream would not work in reality).

Christmas Is You

Plot

When Emma's boss finds out that she is childhood friends with pop star Tyler, who has just fired his manager, Emma is tasked with going home for Christmas to try to convince him to sign with their company instead. When she arrives, she discovers that the annual choir event her father leads is in jeopardy due to a lack of both a venue and funding. Both she and Tyler get involved in saving the performance, which they both participated in as children. Reconnecting with Tyler stirs up many emotions in Emma, making her hesitant to approach him about the contract.

Short review

The film holds up even if it may not stand out from the crowd. My note could possibly be that Emma and Tyler are supposed to have been schoolmates in the film, while in reality there are eight years between them as actors, which sometimes is noticeable.

Christmas with Holly

Plot

Mark has custody of his niece, Holly, since his sister passed. Holly is traumatized by her mother's disappearance and does not speak. This has become a problem at school so Mark decides to take Holly home to the island where he actually lives and has his business on. They move in with Mark's two brothers who also live on the island. At the same time, Maggie, who has been left at the altar, has decided to start a toy store on the island. Mark often sees Maggie while he and his brothers try to create an existence for Holly that makes her feel safe even though they themselves have trouble getting along.

Short review

A good romantic film where the romance is not the only theme, but the interaction between the brothers also has a prominent importance.

Christmas on 5th Avenue

Plot

Eva and her friend run a fixing and event business. Before Christmas, Eva receives a special assignment from one of her best customers, Mitzy, to decorate and fill the freezer in her son's luxury apartment on 5th Avenue. The assignment means that Eva gets to live there the week before Christmas to fix things up. However, it turns out that Lucas, Mitzy's son who is a successful crime writer, is not away at all but has isolated himself in the apartment to write. In order to prevent that secret from leaking out, he reluctantly agrees that Eva can stay and do her mission. He also doesn't want to admit that he's been suffering from writer's block since his wife died three years ago.

Short review

A good romantic film that takes place inside New York for once. Kathryn Davis makes a good Eva who comes in as a positive force of nature.

Falling for Christmas (2021)

Plot

Holly works as an event planner with her sights set on a promotion to bigger events. Before Christmas, the chance comes when she is commissioned to organize a Christmas party for an architectural firm. The condition, however, is that she does it together with Theo, who is the son of the agency's CEO and owner. The Christmas party is important for the company as they hope to win a prestigious contract for the municipality and they want to impress the mayor who really appreciates traditions. The problem is that Theo doesn't understand how important these "soft values" are to winning the deal. Will Holly be able to make him understand?

Short review

Nothing really wrong with this one, but it doesn't stand out either.

Ghosts of Christmas Past

Plot

Ellie has a habit of ghosting guys she's connected with via dating apps as soon as they start talking about seeing each other for real. She works as a game developer and at the company's Christmas party, they have a fortune teller who predicts that if Ellie doesn't explain herself to all the guys she ghosted before Christmas Eve, she will never find true love. She doesn't really know how to deal with it, but also doesn't really dare to trust that it's just a trick. Before Christmas, she gets the chance to promote an idea for a game she has, and she gets one of the company's developers, Charlie, to help her. He now also becomes involved in Ellie's crusade to apologize to everyone she ghosted.

Short review

A movie that was much better than I expected. The story is basically dubious but it turns out well, thanks in large part to good acting.

Making Spirits Bright

Plot

Grace is an interior designer together with her schoolmate from collage. But now she is going home to her family over Christmas. Her father runs a company that makes Christmas decorations for houses before Christmas. So does his former friend, but since they became enemies, they are the worst competitors. Grace gets involved in the business and at the same time runs into Tony who is the son of the rival family. As usual, a Christmas decorating competition is held and this year a cash prize is also awarded. Both families attend, of course, and Grace and Tony do what they can to make the fathers forget their feud.

Short review

A relatively average romantic film that delivers what it should.
