Plot

During their first meeting with the client, there is a misunderstanding, and they are believed to be married. Now, they have to pretend to be married to secure the account. It's not always so easy.

At Midnight

Plot

Sophie is a successful film actress who discovers that her co-star and boyfriend is cheating on her. She is forced to continue the shooting nevertheless. At the hotels where they stay, Alejandro works, content with his bachelor life. Now, he must ensure that Sophie has a pleasant stay at the hotel and does everything he can to keep Sophie happy despite the circumstances.

Short review

A successful and quite funny movie (significantly better than the poster suggests). Actually, a genuine romcom. A plus for the fact that Spanish is actually spoken alongside English.

How to Find Forever

Plot

Marley is planning engagements, and now one of her friends' boyfriends wants her to plan theirs. The perfect location would be an apple farm where her friend spent a lot of time in her youth. It's now owned by Curtis, and he's not keen on having the engagement there right in the middle of the harvest season. Marley has to work hard to convince him.

A standard romantic movie that doesn't quite take off and fails to convince.

One December Night

Plot

Mike and Steve were a successful duo, but they split up many years ago. Now they need to reunite for various reasons. Quinn, who is a music producer but also Mike's daughter, is sent to her hometown to try to ensure that the reunion takes place. Jason, who is Steve's son and also his manager, is in town with the same mission. They must work together to succeed in getting their fathers to resume their collaboration and resolve numerous unresolved conflicts and challenges.

Short review

A good movie where the various reasons for both conflicts and the reasons why they both need to reunite slowly emerge, while the romance blossoms between their children.

Sweeter Than Chocolate

Plot

Lucy runs a chocolate shop known for having a special chocolate truffle for Valentine's Day that is said to help one find true love. Dean is an investigative journalist tasked with writing about the chocolate shop and the truffle as an assignment to prove that he can do more than just write exposé articles. He struggles to gain Lucy's trust and get her to open up for a feature story.

A well-made romantic film in the name of chocolate.

Plot

Jen runs an interior design company with her sister, and business is slow. When the famous bloggers Charlie and Zoe, who run the interior design blog @HyggeAtHome, announce a competition for Christmas, Jen's sister persuades her to participate. The competition requires submitting a video about their family and their business. Since Jen doesn't have a family of her own, her sister lends her child, and Jen's best friend, Max, agrees to pretend to be her husband. The idea is to gain some publicity, not to advance in the competition. However, she does, and the whole situation spirals out of control.

Short review

The movie is good and funny, largely thanks to a great performance by Clare Bowen, who brings Jen to life and portrays her inner conflict well. It's not a serious drama, but as a romantic lightweight, it carries weight.

2nd Chance for Christmas

Plot

Chance has become a truly insufferable diva. She is visited by three ghosts before Christmas: the past, the present, and the future ghosts, who show her the consequences of her behaviour.

Short review

A Scrooge rip-off that is really bad. Painted with broad and cheap brushes, this story doesn't captivate. The fact that Chance's mother appears to be as old as her (there is only a 13-year age difference between the actors) is a sign in itself.

Be Mine, Valentine

Plot

Piper works as an engagement planner. She is hired by Jordan, who wants to propose to his boyfriend Simon. During their first meeting, Jordan brings along her friend Adam, who also happens to be Simon's brother. Piper always wants to get to know her clients before planning, so she convinces Jordan to arrange a dinner with Simon, with Piper accompanying them as Adam's girlfriend, to avoid raising any suspicions from Simon. They have decided that the proposal will take place on Valentine's Day, a day that is busy for Piper but also difficult because her previous boyfriend broke up with her on Valentine's Day.

Short review

The movie turns out well, and the romance takes center stage. It's, of course, quite predictable, but name a romantic movie that isn't. It's unusual that the backdrop to the story is the engagement of two guys.

Parked for Love

Plot

Jackie is a very busy travel writer with little time for herself. Her best friend persuades her to take a break and join her on a trip to a nature park. They rent a massive camper van and set off. In the nature park, they meet Sean, who runs the park. It has problems and could use some funding. The camper van breaks down, and Jackie's friend has to go back home, leaving the stressed Jackie behind at the park with the van. Soon, she becomes reluctantly involved in the park's opportunities (and with Sean).

Short review

An average romantic story in a park setting. It delivers what it's supposed to but doesn't really stand out.

The Gift of Peace

Plot

Traci mourns her husband, whom she used to paint with, but now she has lost her inspiration to paint. Nevertheless, she and her friend and agent have signed her up for the annual Christmas exhibition. Traci is recommended by her friend to join a support group for the grieving at the local church. The group is led by Michael. Through the group, Traci gains new strength, and she also encourages Michael to open up about his grief.

Short review

A reasonably good romantic movie slightly brought down by the fact that they can't have a support group without prayers and church. However, a plus point is that it ends in a budding and cautious romance rather than a kiss.

A Vineyard Romance

Plot

Sam works as a writer in Seattle, and now she gets the opportunity to do a real cover story. Celebrity blogger Heather is getting married at a vineyard in Sam's hometown. When she arrives there, she discovers that the groom is Liam, whom she dated during high school. She tries to back out of the assignment, but it's too late. Now, she's forced to be part of the wedding preparations and tries to remain professional in the situation. However, it's challenging since she and Liam have unresolved feelings to handle.

Short review

It turns out to be a good movie with classic misunderstandings and a predictable ending.

Finding Love in Big Sky, Montana

Plot

Paisley tries to keep her grandfather's ranch alive, but it's been a struggle. Then her former boyfriend, Josh, shows up. He's been suspended from his job as a marketing manager and has come home to recover. He offers to help Paisley get the farm in order.

A B-production that doesn't resonate well anywhere.

Romance at Crystal Cove

Plot

Gavin is driven by his father to follow in his footsteps as a real estate mogul. However, Gavin has an idea of not just kicking out small businesses that aren't profitable but helping them grow. He convinces his father to allow him to give it a try in their old hometown. Once there, he discovers that the business he intends to help, 'Lather and Luxury,' is run by his former girlfriend. She's not interested in his help, but her mother convinces her that the assistance is needed as the company isn't doing so well.

Short review

As a romantic movie, this story holds up even though thoughts drift to the scent inside Lush.

Glacier National Park Romance

Plot

Heather researches avalanches. Now she receives the assignment to use her new technology at Glacier National Park. There, she has to contend with Chris, who prefers to rely on his traditional methods of avalanche prediction.

A somewhat mediocre movie that doesn't quite find its spark.

Love and Penguins

Plot

Tilly finally gets the opportunity to gain some field experience when she is sent to Australia to see if they can save a penguin sanctuary facing financial problems. She is accompanied by her sister, who is quite tired of her life as a housewife. On-site, she works on getting the local zoologist, Fletcher, to engage in activities to raise funds for the sanctuary.

Short review

Maybe not a five, really, but the movie is elevated partly by an enthusiastic Tammin Sursok and also by the supporting role, played by Madeleine West, who really needs a break from housewife life. Thanks to this, the movie becomes entertaining even though it's not a masterpiece.

Loving Christmas

Plot

Ashley is the assistant manager at a local department store, and many believe she will take over when the owner retires. She also has a passion for Christmas and has become known as 'The Christmas Queen' in the small town. Suddenly, Ben appears, the son of the store's owner, who lived with his mother during his upbringing. He is now a trained economist from the big city, and father and son want to reconnect, having had little contact during his childhood. Ben brings in new ideas for the department store, and Ashley feels challenged.

Short review

A film that feels a bit on the cheap side, meaning it's not very high-budget. There are some gaps in the plot, as I see it.

My Favorite Christmas Tree

Plot

Kyla works as a historian. Before Christmas, she changes her vacation plans for herself and her sister. Instead of heading to southern latitudes, they go to Conifer, Colorado. Kyla has a research assignment related to the background of a Christmas tree farm there. At the same time, she is delving into her own family's history, as much is unknown about her mother's side of the family. In Conifer, she is confronted with Cody, who is the one running the Christmas tree farm after his father injured his back.

An average romantic movie that still holds up, although there are some loose ends at the end.

Record Breaking Christmas

Plot

Leah works as an inspector for new record attempts. Now she is sent to a small town determined to break many records before Christmas. The town tries and tries, but all the time Leah has to reject one attempt after another. She is accompanied by the town's doctor, Devan.

Short review

A middle-of-the-road version. Not terrible but not good either. The concept of records doesn't work either.

The Dog Lover's Guide to Dating

Plot

Simon tries to date Chloe, but her dog, also named Simon, constantly gets in the way. When he meets Alex, who trains dogs, he gets the idea to hire her to learn how to handle dogs so he can get closer to Chloe. Reluctantly, Alex eventually agrees to help when Simon gets involved with the dog center and it's needs for support.

A moderately good romantic story where the main characters find themselves having to chose.

Christmas In Pine Valley

Plot

Natalie runs a Christmas tree farm with a motley crew that's almost like a family. She also has a blog where she writes about the business, which retains the old name Pine Valley Family Farm. Now they receive a large order from a wholesaler that deals exclusively with family businesses. Furthermore, the reporter Josh is sent there to write an article about the operation. Suddenly, everyone on the farm has to pretend to be a family and do everything they can to keep the truth from coming out.

Short review

Not a well-crafted film, primarily brought down by Andrew Biernat, who must have secured this role through some creative means because it couldn't have been for his acting talents.

Christmas On Mistletoe Lake

Plot

Because of an old postcard, Reily has decided that her family (mom, dad, and sister) should celebrate Christmas at Mistletoe Lake. She arrives a week early but finds herself without a hotel room. In town, she meets Ray and his daughter Emma. Emma takes her to their boat in the harbor, and it ends with Emma asking her dad if Reily can stay on the boat until Christmas. Ray, who is in the process of selling the boat, agrees to it in exchange for Reily helping with the sale. At the same time, Emma wants the boat to be part of the Christmas light festival held every year.

Short review

Yes, it is a good movie that falls in the middle of the pack.

Christmas Plus One

Plot

Sisters Cara and Amy wished to find 'the one' during the coming year. Now, a year has passed, and Amy is getting married. When Cara is heading home for Christmas, her flight gets cancelled, and she gets a ride from Chase, who secured the last rental car. They really connect during the journey, but when they part ways, Cara loses her phone with Chase's number. Knowing where Chase has Christmas traditions, she begins attending these different events to find him again. During her search, she gets assistance from Michael, a writer who is set to write about Christmas traditions in New York and sees an opportunity for inspiration.

Short review

It rises above average. It becomes a good romantic movie that, that for once, takes place in the big city (New York). It's also a bit different in that she's searching for someone else.

Christmas With The Campbells

Plot

Jesse's boyfriend of several years breaks up with her before Christmas. However, his parents like Jesse so much that they still want her to come to them for Christmas since the boyfriend isn't going there anyway, and Jesse would otherwise be alone for Christmas. After brief hesitation, she goes there. There, she meets David, her ex-boyfriend's cousin, who is completely different. However, things get complicated when her ex-boyfriend unexpectedly shows up.

Short review

The movie falls short as a romantic film. It also contains a lot of profanity and sexual innuendos, which, in a way, makes it somewhat different. It's not what drags the movie down, but it certainly doesn't help.

Cloudy with a Chance of Christmas

Plot

Bridget, a weather presenter, finally gets the opportunity to host a special Christmas broadcast of a popular morning show. The team travels to Leavenworth for the broadcast, but it turns out that the show's regular hosts, Drake and Tatum, will also be part of it. This was something Bridget hadn't anticipated, especially since she once applied for Tatum's job but didn't get it because Drake said no. Since then, she has had a hard time with both of them. Now, she suddenly has to deal with being on the show despite not liking them both, especially Drake.

Short review

The movie is decent as a romantic film. Perhaps the spark ignites a bit too quickly and easily, but given the context, maybe it's not that surprising.

Fit for Christmas

Plot

Audrey's gym in New York was outcompeted by the big chains, and on top of that, she and her partner and boyfriend have chosen to take a break in their relationship. Audrey goes back to her father's home for Christmas, where she leads workout sessions at the local recreation center. However, it is now threatened with closure by a company that wants to exploit the area and create a ski resort to revitalize the town. Audrey, who has recently experienced how large corporations push out the small ones, gets involved in saving the center and ends up in conflict with Griffin, who is the company's representative on-site.

Short review

Perhaps a somewhat energetically intense and high-kicking Amanda Kloots still delivers a commendable performance as the driving force in adversity in this film, which turns out to be a good romantic movie.

Ghosts of Christmas Always

Plot

Katherine is the present-day ghost in a trio of ghosts (past, present, and future) with a mission to 'Scrooge' unkind people. Now they are sent down to deal with Peter, but there's a lot that's strange about the mission. Peter doesn't seem to be the one in need of help; it's more like his father who is unkind. Moreover, he lives in the same town where Katherine once lived before she died. What is the mission of the ghosts, and how will they succeed?

Short review

A very different Scrooge story that actually turns out well, although I think they rushed the ending a bit,

Haul out the Holly

Plot

When Emily breaks up with her boyfriend, it turns out he's taken the lease on their apartment. Homeless for Christmas, she's persuaded by her parents to come home to them. However, once there, it becomes apparent that they plan to go to Florida for the holidays and expect Emily to look after their house while they're away. This includes participating in the neighborhood's over-the-top Christmas celebrations, which her parents have led since she was a child. They've passed the chairmanship, however, to her childhood friend Jared, who has moved back to the neighborhood.

Short review

The production is well-crafted, and the actors are good, but the story... The natural thing for Emily would have been to borrow the neighbor's chainsaw and go on a rampage in the neighborhood. And she must have some kind of mental disorder to fall for Jared.

Holiday Harmony

Plot

Gail has been rootless her entire life, traveling around in her old VW bus on a constant tour, performing and singing at various small gigs. Suddenly, she gets the opportunity to participate in iHeartRadio's big Christmas concert in California. However, she first needs to get there. On the way, she accidentally wrecks her beloved bus and gets stuck in the small town of Harmony Springs. She receives help from Jeremy and his parents while they repair her bus. To cover the repair costs, Gail agrees to step in as a teacher for a small group of music-loving students who are preparing for the town's singing competition.

Short review

A worthwhile romantic film. Gail and Jared each grapple with their backgrounds, and it's depicted well. The theme of becoming a star at any cost is not worth the cost is something we recognice (even though she does become one).

Christmas at the Holly Hotel

Plot

Kathy hasn't dared to pursue a career as a chef and instead works as a food critic. Now, she reluctantly heads home to her parents for Christmas. The first thing that happens at home is that she gets caught for speeding and confronts Officer Matthew. Christmas doesn't turn out the way she had imagined.

Short review

You can safely skip this one. A garbage production where the actors could be replaced by a wooden log without you noticing.

Baking All the Way

Plot

Julia is about to publish her next cookbook, but she lacks a good gingerbread recipe, the kind that reminds her of her mother's gingerbread for which she lost the recipe. Among all the submissions sent in response to her request, she finds one that is perfect. She travels to the small town bakery to inform them that they will be featured in her cookbook. However, it turns out that Kris, who runs the bakery, didn't submit the entry, and he's not willing to share the recipe either.

Short review

I can't really say why this one got the next highest rating; it doesn't stand out that much. But it left me with a good feeling.

A Christmas Open House

Plot

Melissa is home helping with her mother's wedding when she realizes that her mother is going to sell her house. She immediately wants to help 'stage' the house for the sale, and when she insists on this, she ends up working with David, her old school friend who is now a real estate agent hired by Melissa's mom. How will she manage to do this while keeping her boss in New York satisfied?

A mediocre romantic movie that's passable but not much more.

A Christmas to Savour

Plot

Scarlett is a chef and co-owns her restaurant with her friend. However, the restaurant is somewhat stagnant because Scarlett has some difficulty innovating. Her friend then sends her on a Christmas-themed cooking course. She hesitantly attends the course, despite being a well-trained chef. It turns out that her old classmate from culinary school, James, is leading the course. It becomes a somewhat uncomfortable experience for Scarlett.

Short review

A good romantic movie even though it teeters a bit. Is she wrong and he's right? Maybe not, but you get that feeling a bit, which feels wrong.

A Fabled Holiday

Plot

Talia owns a bookstore but harbours a dream of becoming a writer. Alone for Christmas, she decides to check in at a somewhat mysterious inn in a town that reminds her of a childhood fairy tale. At the same inn, there's a couple going through some issues and an elderly widower who misses his late wife. Talias childhood friend, Anderson, also shows up after having car trouble. The stage is set, will the fairy tale have a happy ending?

Structured like a story with chapters, it feels a bit contrived, but as a romantic tale, it holds up.

A Holiday Spectacular

Plot

Maggie is the daughter of a wealthy family, but her dream is to dance with the glamorous Radio City Rockettes. When she is unexpectedly accepted to dance with them, she escapes to New York under the pretence of planning her wedding to Maxwell, whom her parents have arranged for her to marry. In the Rockettes, she finds sisterhood, and soon she meets John, who lives nearby and dreams of becoming a photographer. The only problems now is her parents, who have no idea that she's dancing, and the engagement to Maxwell.

In this collection, it's a somewhat different movie as it takes place in the 1950s. It holds together and becomes a pretty good romantic story.

A Hollywood Christmas

Plot

Jessica is a successful director of romantic Christmas movies. Right in the middle of shooting her next film, one of the film company's new executives, Christopher, arrives and announces that the company has chosen to shut down the romantic film division in favor of more profitable productions. Jessica perseveres in getting the film completed, constantly supervised by the intrusive Christopher, who takes an unusually keen interest in her production.

Short review

This movie turns out really well (perhaps mostly if you've seen a lot of romantic films). It's a meta-story where the romantic plot unfolds while they are shooting a romantic movie. They paint with broad strokes, but it works.

A Merry Christmas Wish

Plot

Janie receives news that her grandfather's brother has passed away, and as the only relative, she must travel to his farm (where she used to spend summers as a child) to take care of the estate. To her surprise, she discovers that she has been bequeathed the entire farm. In a letter, she also receives his last wish for her to organize the town's Christmas celebration, which used to take place on the farm, one last time before deciding whether to sell it or not. She decides to do so and receives assistance from Dylan, who has been helping run the farm in recent years.

Short review

A good romantic movie. But one wonders if it's really true that all city dwellers actually want to live in the countryside.

A Tale of Two Christmases

Plot

Emma struggles to succeed as an architect. Now, she's heading home for Christmas, but just before she does, she encounters a Santa who wonders what she wishes for Christmas. She wishes for her life to sort itself out. The next day, she finds herself in a 'sliding door' moment at the airport, and for the following day, she gets to experience parallel events in two different scenarios: one where she stays in town and another where she goes home. In town, she meets Max, whom she's been eyeing in the office building for a while, and at home, she meets Drew, who has always lived next door to her parents. But what does she really want?

Short review

I found this a bit dubious at first, and it's a bit slow to start, but after a while, you get into it, and the 'sliding door' concept, which isn't entirely straightforward, eventually works.

A Royal Christmas On Ice

Plot

Abigale's career as a figure skater was cut short when she got injured, and now she works as a coach instead. However, her livelihood is threatened by the sale of the ice rink. Prince John, the youngest prince in the small principality, is looking for something to do and has a passion for ice hockey. He travels to the United States to acquire a hockey team and a home for them. Upon the advice of his advisor in the USA, he heads to Abigale's small town to see if it could be a place to establish his hockey team.

Short review

No, this one did not turn out well. Not only because it has the theme of the prince from the unknown kingdom but it lacks a lot.

Steppin' Into the Holiday

Plot

Billy's career comes to a halt when he is fired from the show he has been hosting for many years. He goes home for Christmas to recharge. At home, he meets Rae, who has taken over her mother's dance studio, where Billy learned to dance. She is in the process of putting together a Christmas show for her students, and Billy gets involved as his nephew is participating.

A movie that becomes somewhat unengaging and generally feels a bit plastic.

Inventing the Christmas Prince

Plot

Shelby works as an engineer at a company that develops rockets. Her boss, Evan, is unpopular and has lost three employees in a short time, which has put the company's spotlight on him. When he asks them to work over Christmas, Shelby reaches her breaking point and quits. However, at the same time, her daughter has become convinced that Evan is the Christmas prince that Shelby has been telling stories about for many years. A prince who chooses one child to grant wishes to every year. Shelby, who needs her job, blackmails Evan, who can't afford to lose another employee, into staying if Evan agrees to play the role of the Christmas prince for her daughter.

Better than expected. How Shelby brings Evan out of his shell makes for a good story.

The Noel Diary

Plot

Successful author Jake inherits his estranged mother, whom he hasn't had contact with for many years. When he goes home for Christmas to clean up her house, Rachel appears. She is an adoptive child searching for her biological mother, whom she knows nothing about more than the fact that she worked as a housekeeper for Jake's family when he was little. After a while, Jake also wants to help her find clues, even though he must simultaneously confront events from his childhood.

A good movie where the story unfolds through the plot. Lots of conflicting emotions and knots to untangle. Worth watching.

The Royal Nanny

Plot

Claire works in the security service, and when it is discovered that the crown princess and her children are threatened by a shady organization, Claire is placed as a nanny with the royal family. However, the children turn out to be mischievous, and Claire is put to the test, especially as the children receive support from their uncle, Colin.

Perhaps not any major issues, but it's not an exciting drama either.

The Snowball Effect

Plot

Tara and Sam are weather presenters on two different TV stations. Now they have the chance to land a top job in New York. Both of them, separately, try to make their way there for an interview, hoping to secure the job. However, a storm leaves them stranded in a small town where Christmas is no longer celebrated much. Now, they must somehow conjure up local weather presentations to showcase their skills and hopefully secure the job. Not only that, they are also forced to share accommodations.

No, a rather shoddy production that hardly captivates.

Time For Him To Come Home For Christmas

Plot

Elizabeth receives a phone message from an unknown person seeking contact with his former lover whom he still cares for. She wants to try to reach out to him to let him know that he left the message for the wrong number. However, she doesn't have much to go on, as the calling number only leads to a hotel. She runs into her childhood friend Josh, with whom she has had a strained relationship since their mutual friend, Andrew, died in an accident three years ago. Eventually, she gets his help in the search. However, it stirs up old emotions from three years ago.

Short review

In my opinion, a well-constructed story. You can, in fact, suspect what happened three years ago and how it will end, but it still offers a connection I didn't expect. One might have some remarks about Tenille Townes' cameo and her stealing the final scene, but that's a minor issue.

Undercover Holiday

Plot

Jaylen has recently become a popular pop star. When she receives anonymous messages from someone who has broken into her property, the record label assigns her a bodyguard, Matt. He's to accompany her everywhere, even when Jaylen goes home to her family in Squirrel Hollow. However, Jaylen doesn't want her family to know that she's been threatened and that she has a bodyguard, so she introduces him as her boyfriend, much to her family's and especially Matt's surprise. Now, they have to maintain the appearance during the Christmas holiday.

Not a complete dud of a film, but it falls a bit flat.

Well Suited for Christmas

Plot

Fashion designer Rachel is invited to participate in a design competition where she's tasked with creating clothes for a bachelor who will then be auctioned off for a date. The proceeds from the auction will go to charity, and the prize for the designer is to have her creation featured in a fashion magazine. Rachel is paired with Brett, who has already expressed disdain for her creations and furthermore, refuses to wear anything other than black.

Short review

No, this one never takes off. Largely because of Franco Lo Presti, who plays Brett. He can't bring anything to any film. They should simply refrain from casting him in anything.

Five More Minutes: Moments Like These

Plot

Widow Kaitlyn has just been offered a great job as a photographer in London and is considering moving there with her son. Kaitlyn travels home with her son to her in-laws for Christmas. She contemplates selling her old house, which she has been renting out since her husband passed away. Once there, she meets Matthew, who helps those interested in buying her house. He is an old friend of her late husband and knows her in-laws. He takes it upon himself to assist Kaitlyn in fixing up the house so that she can get a better price for it, allowing the money to go to her son.

Short review

It could have been a better movie, but it's marred by the ghosts of her deceased husband appearing in the plot. Otherwise, it holds up well.

A Brush with Christmas

Plot

Charlotte struggles to keep her parents' restaurant running and has no time for her true passion, painting. Wyatt, who works with illustrations, is visiting his brother when his brother discovers a half-finished painting that Charlotte discarded when she realized she wouldn't have time to finish it. He thinks it's too good not to be seen and enters it into the competition Charlotte had planned to participate in as 'artist unknown.' Ethan buys an engagement ring for his girlfriend at the same time Gary buys a simple gift for his girlfriend, Rachel, at Tiffany's. When they leave the store, Gray gets hit by a car, and when Ethan helps him, they accidentally switch their presents. The next day, Ethan and his daughter visit the hospital to check on Gary's well-being. There, he meets Michelle, who is there to visit Gary. Later, when they each separately hand over their presents to their girlfriends, they discover the mix-up. Gary pretends like nothing happened and proposes to Michelle with the ring, but Ethan, who wants the ring back, seeks out Gary while also encountering Michelle in various situations.

Even though the plot might sound a bit convoluted, this turns out to be a very good romantic movie that isn't quite like all the others. It ends as it should, etc., but still feels better than most.

Six Degrees of Santa

Harper has initiated a program where one anonymously gives a Christmas gift to someone unknown, who then passes it on after having it for a day, and so on until it reaches the sixth recipient who gets to keep it. She also participates in this tradition, and her gift, a book with a personal message, eventually ends up with the tech mogul James. The book strikes a chord from his childhood, and he sets out to find the original giver. Harper, who disapproves of James's attitude toward Christmas, is initially reluctant to disclose the information, but when James promises to save her family's paper shop, she persuades her neighbor to pretend to be the original giver.

The whole concept of the gift exchange program has quite a few logical flaws, but if you can overlook that, the movie works as a romantic film.

Long Lost Christmas

At the same time, Haley also learns, to her surprise, that she has an uncle her mother never talked about. However, her mother doesn't want to discuss it. Haley becomes interested nonetheless and starts searching for her mothers lost brother. One possible candidate, Gordon, runs a company that sells cabins. She goes there to investigate if he could be her uncle. At the company, she meets Blake, who works for Gordon, and furniture designer Brianna, Gordon's daughter.

A good romantic movie. A movie about changing one's mindset, and it works because there's a reason behind the mindset that led to a change in the opposite direction before.

The artist Katie accidentally stumbles into Jesse's pub, and they chat for a while before Katie moves on to join her friend's office party. However, this leads to Jesse inviting Katie to a hockey game. His favorite team has been performing poorly for a while. During the game, the camera goes into the audience with a "kiss cam" theme, where the couples they film are supposed to kiss. It lands on Jesse and Katie, who are persuaded to kiss each other. After that, their team wins the game, and everyone claims it's because of their kiss. Suddenly, everyone wants them to attend the games and bring luck.

The plot may sound a bit thin, but this movie has a lot more to offer and turns into a really good romantic film.

Once Upon a Christmas Miracle

Heather has a liver disease that requires a transplantation from a living donor. The prospects of finding a match who is also willing to undergo the surgery are slim, and Heather believes she's nearing death. Her family does everything they can to find a match, and suddenly, it turns out that a colleague of her brother-in-law, Chris, is a match and is also willing to donate. Aware of the sacrifice this entails, Heather wants to ensure that Chris truly wants this, and alongside the surgery, a romance blossoms.

He and MacKenzie were schoolmates and were almost together for a brief period. Today, Chase is a famous movie star struggling to get a new role in a new film. He is persuaded by his nephew to join his team in the Reindeer Games, and once again, MacKenzie and Chase find themselves pitted against each other.

The movie was better than I expected, and it lives up to the standards of a well-crafted romantic film.

Santa Bootcamp

Event planner Emily is hired by businessman Ed Mancini to organize a big Christmas party in a short time. It's a prestigious assignment, and Emily is determined to succeed. One of the most important tasks is to find an exceptionally good Santa Claus for the party. She contacts Belle, who leads a Santa "boot camp" to get tips on hiring a good Santa. Instead, she gets involved in the actual boot camp course, where she meets, among others, the school's chef, Aiden.

No, it just feels a bit awkward with the real Santa Claus and his wife. Worst of all, the final scene is probably the worst (and no, it's not worth watching the movie for).

Sappy Holiday

Joy is hoping to secure a position as the head chef at the restaurant where she works. At the same time, she discovers that her boyfriend is planning to propose to her. Suddenly, he has arranged time off for her over Christmas so she can join him and his parents for the holiday. However, on her way there, Joy veers off the road and becomes stranded in a snowdrift near a maple syrup farm. James, who runs the farm, comes to her rescue, and while they fix her car, she ends up staying with him and his family on the farm.

It becomes a pretty good romantic movie where farm life trumps the fancy and wealthy life.

Liz has a column in the local newspaper that is threatened by a takeover by a large newspaper group. At the group, Tom works with his own column. If he increases his popularity, he has the chance to get his own TV show. Liz loves Christmas while Tom has a hard time with it. Their columns end up in polemics, which increases the popularity of both.

The film is from 2005 and has not stood the test of time. It feels disgusting the way Tom treats Liz.

Love Afloat

Lorelei inherits a boat she was on as a child. She goes to the Caribbean where the boat is located and finds it in too poor a condition to sell. She decides to refit the boat and enlists the help of Rob, who takes temporary jobs at the port. He dreams of having his own boat one day. Lorelei is under pressure from her job to return as she possibly can get a promotion to partner and she pushes to get the boat ready so they can sail it to Miami.

A decent romantic film but it never quite takes off.

Mid-Love Crisis

Mindy is approaching her 50th birthday and is having a hard time getting older. Her husband left her for another and her daughter has moved away from home and everything feels bleak. Now her daughter comes home and tells her that she wants to get engaged to her girlfriend and Mindy tries to dissuade her from making the same mistake she did. In the middle of all this, she also meets Sam, who she was with during school, but when school was over and she was going to study further, Sam left her and disappeared to Alaska.

The film is a little different as the main characters are a little older. It is good and the romance will come despite the hesitations.

Jolly Good Christmas

The architect David has moved from the USA to London where he works at his girlfriend's father's firm. He now hopes that they will get an important contract for which he is the architect. He goes Christmas shopping to get a gift card for his girlfriend before Christmas. There he runs into Anji, who presents herself as a personal shopper even though her parents want her to take over the family pub. A series of meetings and events make him realize that a gift card is not the right gift and finally he hires Anji to find the perfect gift for his girlfriend. Something that is not simple.

A romantic film in a London setting. It's really good as a romantic movie, better than I expected. It is made with fingertip feeling.

Noel Next Door

Noel lives with her son, Henry, but her ex wants Henry to be with him and his new girlfriend over Christmas. At the same time, Henry falls out of favor with one of their neighbors who disturbs him when he kicks a ball against his wall. Noel works at a diner where Jeremy usually comes, He is partially paralyzed after a stroke. They are attracted to each other and he finally dares to come out of his shell and asks her out on a date. Little does Noel know, however, that Jeremy is also the horrible neighbor who doesn't like her son.

A good romantic movie. A bit unusual with Jeremy having a paralyzed arm. Not a masterpiece, but a film that delivers what it should.

Ticket to Paradise

David and Georgia have been divorced for a long time and really don't get along. However, they have a common daughter who, after her law degree, goes with her best friend to Bali on holiday. There she meets a guy and they soon decide to get married. David and Georgia travel down to the wedding determined to break it up because they don't want her to make the same mistake they did. However, it turns out not to be that simple.

Julia Roberts and George Clooney, how can you fail? It is a good and partly funny film. Not one of the best romantic movies but it holds up.

A Gingerbread Christmas

Hazel does not get the job as an architect as she had hoped. Instead, she takes a slightly longer Christmas break at her father's house. There she discovers that the family bakery that her mother started is running rough as they have received competition from a new bakery. It also turns out that the father hired a craftsman, James, to repair the slightly runned down bakery but he has now also started baking. Hazel gets the idea to enter a gingerbread house competition to win money and save the bakery, and recruits James to help.

Good entertainment when you want to watch an average romantic movie. It can be stated that the American gingerbread houses have slightly more substantial walls than the Swedish ones.

A Kismet Christmas

Sarah is a successful children's book author. Now her publisher wants her to visit the town where her grandmother lives to choose the winner of a competition about her books. It fills her with painful memories of the time she failed when she was going to declare her love for the neighbour boy Travis as a teenager. She hopes to make a quick visit relatively unnoticed as she is writing under a pseudonym but quickly realizes that Grandma has told her friends everything. Things don't get any better when it turns out that Travis is back in town with his daughter.

A well-made story that makes a good romantic film. Not too complicated but lots of feel-good (and destiny cookies).

Autumn in the City

Piper moves to New York to try to find a career of her own outside of her father's company, something her parents don't understand or believe in. Austin already lives in New York where his famous mother, who is a journalist, is pushing him to follow in her footsteps, but he really wants to be a children's book author. Piper and Austin become neighbors and when Austin discovers how well Piper draws, he wants her to illustrate his children's books.

A Slice Of Chicago Romance

Riley has just taken over the family pizzeria when she learns that Shane has returned to take over his family's pizzeria. Both families with their respective pizzerias have been feuding with each other for generations. Both pizzerias are also in dire need of renewal to compete with the large pizza chain that has just established itself in the neighborhood. The renewal is met with resistance in both families, and Riley and Shane turn to each other for support when they realize that they both have complementary ideas for how to renew.

Brad is a bit of diva who is quite fond of himself, but he also becomes fond of Kerry and encourages her to believe in herself more.

April is a successful doctor even though her boss thinks she spends too much time with her patients. She meets Jesse, who is a veterinarian, and they start dating. They are planning a romantic trip to Paris when Jesse suddenly reveals that he grew up in an Amish family and that his brother is getting married and he has to go home for the wedding. He asks if April wants to come along and she (relieved that he didn't want to break up) accepts. It will be a not entirely uncomplicated meeting with the Amish community and in particular Jesse's mother.

A little unusual with the Amish setting, I was skeptical of the movie before I saw it, (Uptv is itself a warning bell) but they have made a good romantic movie with the conflict between the Amish community and the modern ways.

Romance in Style

Ella works as a seamstress but wants to become a designer. She wants to design plus size fashion as she knows what it's like to be a little bigger. She helps her friend who works at a big fashion magazine. There she meets the newspaper's new boss, Derek, who has just started to turn around the falling numbers. He is fascinated by Ella's straightforward style and engages her to teach him all about the fashion industry, much to the dismay of the magazine's editor.

A good romantic film in the world of fashion. It is mainly carried by Jaicy Elliot who makes a liberatingly tough Ella.

Styled With Love

Rosie moves to Chicago to start a business as a stylist. From her best friend, she gets tips about her cousin, Jaxon, who is a photographer as she needs pictures to promote her new company. After a not-so-successful first contact, they decide to cooperate anyway as they both have something to gain from it as Jaxon also needs new pictures to land a job he wants.

Sweet as Pie

Tamara is in the middle of her career and gets an opportunity to pitch herself as a partner at the company. However, it is not enough with her fantastic results, she has to pitch herself as a person. Her boss advises her to go back to her hometown for a while to prepare for her presentation. Once home, she realizes that her parents' apple farm is struggeling and she gets involved in finding ways to save it and the unique apple variety they grow. She gets hesitant help from her childhood friend Bill.

The film is okay and Rihannon does a good job as Tamara, a driven girl. However, the film falls on Bill (Roark) who is a grumpy and envious type and it is really hard to believe the spark between them.

The Attraction Test

Tara is a professor and studies human relations. She has developed a method that improves the odds of determining whether a potential partner is "the one". At a lecture, she is challenged by Ryan, who is there with his girlfriend. He questions why Tara didn't test the method herself. The issue spreads on social networks and Tara suddenly has a publicity crisis to deal with. The university suggests that she take the test for the sake of it. To show his girlfriend, who has broken up with him, that he has such a side, Ryan takes part in the experiment.

It is a good romantic film, even if her theories would have a hard time coping in the research world.

The Engagement Plot

Hanna is included as a "wild card" in a popular dating series where 20 girls get to date a successful bachelor. She and the show's bachelor, Will, really get along well, but for publicity reasons, he is maneuvered to choose another girl in the final round, and that crushes Hanna. However, it all goes wrong and Will receives so much public criticism that his company demands that he do something to repair the damage. They get the idea that he will fake an engagement with Hanna, who was the audience's favorite, to counteract the boycotts the company has been subjected to as a result of the show.

When you read the plot, you don't have high expectations for this film, but it works okay as a romantic film.

Wedding Season (2022)

Asha and Ravi are under intense pressure from their families to find a life partner. Asha is busy with her career and Ravi is working on finding his way in life. They are reluctantly forced into a failed date where both lack commitment. The summer is filled with weddings to which they are both invited, and at the first, Asha feels compelled to lie about her and Ravi being together to avoid the bothersome nagging from her family. Ravi reluctantly agrees to fake a relationship during the upcoming weddings so that both can escape the pressure.

A really good romantic film set in an Indian immigrant environment in the United States. They have to fight hard against their parents and they don't give up (although in a way you can say that the parents got what they wanted, but still not).

A Christmas In Switzerland

Alex travels the world as an experienced architect. Now she is looking forward to going to Switzerland over Christmas where her mother has just moved and bought an Inn. It will open just after Christmas and preparations are in full swing. Alex meets the mother's new hotel manager, Liam, who has moved to his hometown after a career as a hotel manager in large prestigious hotels to have a quieter life with his son. However, Alex's stay is complicated by the fact that her mother also invited her best friend, Beth, whom Alex terminated her friendship with after Beth got together with Alex ex. boyfriend.

Didn't have high expectations for a romantic film where the Americans portray Europe. As a romantic film, it holds up even if the depiction of Christmas in Switzerland becomes a bit romantic too…

The organizer of the event is Jean, a rich lady with many opinions about how things should be and Molly almost misses her chance but, Jean's nephew Carson, persuades her to hire Molly. Jean, wanting to hand over the foundation she runs to Carson, appoints him to oversee Molly's delivery.

Destined at Christmas

Kim and Theo meet in the shopping frenzy of Black Friday. Through several events, they get to know each other during the day. However, at their last store, there's a power outage, and they lose each other before they have a chance to exchange numbers. Nevertheless, both of them feel that they found each other during those hours, and they start searching, each on their own, with the vague information they have about each other. The closer they get to Christmas, the more hopeless it seems.

A good romantic movie and somewhat unusual in that, apart from the initial meeting, they don't meet again for almost the entire remainder of the film. Although they are close the whole time.

Game, Set, Love

Taylor works as a tennis coach after giving up her promising career as a tennis pro before it took off. When her best friend is injured just as she is about to compete in a doubles match with the infamous tennis star William, Taylor is persuaded to train with William and later compete in the tournament. The collaboration initially goes poorly mostly due to Williams attitude problem.

No, this story doesn't convince, and it's not because of the tennis theme, but because of a lack of chemistry.

In Merry Measure

Pop star Darcy's star is fading. She accepts her sister's invitation to come home for Christmas. There, it turns out that her niece has been rejected by the music teacher Adam, whom Darcy constantly competed against during their school days. Darcy gets involved and sets up a singing group of students who were rejected by Adam and plans to compete in the same competition. Old rivalries are reignited.

Perfect Harmony

Music professor Barrett has crossed paths with the artist and star Jack on a few occasions, including when Barrett's best friend started dating Jack's manager, and they became a couple. Barrett and Jack were definitely not on the same wavelength, though. Now, their friends are getting married and ask Barrett and Jack to be the maid of honor and best man. They are forced to collaborate to pull off a great wedding, which isn't easy since Barrett prefers to plan everything meticulously, while Jack likes to go with the flow.

This movie turns out really well, and their differences truly come into play against each other.

The author Amy is about to release her third book and is getting ready to start her book tour when she receives news that her grandfather has been injured. Back home, she reunites with her childhood friend Kit, who now works for her grandfather. They also have unresolved issues, but both realize that her grandfather can't continue with his business the way he always has.

However, Luke has now become a Marine and when he hears Cassie asking their mutual friend to marry her in order to benefit from the healthcare benefits that military wives receive, he realizes (despite his reluctance to the idea) that it could also solve his debt problems. They decide to enter into a sham marriage while Luke is deployed in Iran.

This movie is more drama than a classic romantic film. However, it has the romantic resolution as expected.

A Big Fat Family Christmas

Liv is a photographer at a newspaper in San Francisco. Her parents usually host an overwhelming Christmas party every year, which she finds a bit 'too much.' Now, Henry, a new reporter at the newspaper, is tasked with finding a good Christmas story, and he discovers the party as a suitable subject for a themed article. He wants Liv to be the photographer, and she frantically tries to hide the fact that her parents are the party organizers.

An exhaustingly bad movie that heavily relies on the stereotype of Chinese people in the USA. Neither the storyline nor the acting convinces.

A Christmas Cookie Catastrophe

Annie has taken over her grandmother's cookie manufacturing business, but there's a lot to live up to. Her previous career in the big city's corporate world doesn't make her popular in the small-town factory either. Things get even worse when the recipe for her grandmother's famous cookies goes missing. After a minor controversy with a local baker, she enlists his help and that of his daughter to try to recreate the recipe before anyone discovers she's lost it.

A movie that at times teeters on the brink of silliness, but it has its charm nonetheless and actually turns out quite good.

Christmas With You

Pop star Angelina is starting to feel the pressure of age in the industry and has to produce a new hit. The press makes her want to get away from all the noise and she gets the idea to visit one of her fans, the girl Cristina, who made a cover of one of her songs on social media. Once there with her manager, a blizzard causes them to get stuck at the home of Cristina, her grandmother and her father, Miguel. Angelina discovers that Miguel has started writing a song. She suddenly feels inspired and wonders if they can work on it together. Maybe this is exactly what she needs to come back.

This turned out to be a good romantic movie about celebrity finding inspiration through romance.

Designing Christmas

Stella and Pablo have hosted a house renovation series for six seasons. When the planned project for the end of the season falls through, it is decided that the Christmas episode will be about renovating the old family house that Stella has just bought back. Also, Stella's wedding to Jack is moved up to Christmas so that it can be the big finale of the series. During the work on the house, however, Stella and Pablo's collaboration develops and Stella also begins to question whether she and Jack really fit together.

Short review

Why a high rating on this one? The film is a bit different as it is largely made as an episode of the TV series (not entirely though), which gives a funny effect. The story is also well done, Stella's dilemmas become believable. The producer in the series is also a fun character who bulldozes her way through all challenges.

Falling for Christmas (2022)

Plot

Sierra lives in luxury on her father's money and has a famous blogger, Tad, as her boyfriend. Although the father is quite sceptical of him. One day, Tad takes Sierra out on a photo shoot in the mountains and takes the opportunity to propose to her. However, Sierra slides/falls down the mountain side and hits her head on a tree. There, Jake finds her and takes her to the hospital. However, it turns out that Sierra has lost her memory and no longer remembers who she is. Jake lets her stay at his Inn until they can find out who she is.

Short review

This movie leaves me a bit in doubt, on the one hand it is a bit exaggerated and downright silly but on the other hand it has its funny moments and the romance is allowed to blossom so it got a 4 in the end.

Maple Valley Christmas

Their mother wants Erica and her sister to take over the family's maple syrup farm. At the same time, they learn that the lot next door, which the family was forced to sell a long time ago, is now up for sale and Erica wants them to buy it back to expand the business. However, her sister doesn't. Aaron then comes to the village, sent there by his father who also wants to buy the plot of land which he wants to exploit. When Aaron meets Erica by chance, he realizes how much this piece of land means to her and does no longer want to purches it. However, his father does not want to listen.

A good romantic film with family tensions and different wills both here and there. However, it ends as it should with a lot of feel-good.

A B-production that contains uncalled for musical numbers and other rather exaggerated oddities. You can do without this.

My Christmas Fiancé

Maya wants to be a chef and goes as an apprentice to the troublesome Penn. Before Christmas, Penn must meet his parents, who constantly try to set him up with "Asp", who is a friend of the family. Penn persuades Maya to pretend to be engaged to him to avoid parental pressure.

A really worthless production. The film itself contains some funny sequences but that doesn't make up for that the film is incredible clumsily delivered.

We Need a Little Christmas

Plot

Julie prepares the first Christmas celebration with her son after her husband's death. She is also trying to continue their joint interior design company. Reluctantly, her son goes to Christmas camp so Julie can work. There he meets Irene, their new neighbor who takes him on in his grief work. At the same time, Julie misses an assignment that she had hoped for but then runs into Peter, a restaurant owner who may need an interior designer to fix up his restaurant.

Short review

A movie that absolutely indulges in the Christmas feel-good factor. As a romantic film, it becomes enjoyable if you can handle movies without friction.

A Cozy Christmas Inn

Plot

Erika works for a company that invests in holiday destinations. Just before Christmas, she is sent away by her demanding boss to evaluate a possible purchase of an Inn up in Alaska. However, it soon turns out that the Inn is owned and run by her ex. boyfriend, Andy. Now Erika, in order to get her promotion, has to convince Andy to sell his life's work while they have unresolved conflicts from their separation when Andy moved back to Alaska.

Short review

This romantic story never gets good. Without giving away too much of the plot, I still have to say that the 'Santa Claus mystery' brings the whole story down.

Campfire Christmas

Plot

Peyton works as an assistant at a publishing house but dreams of breaking through as a writer. Now her parents announce that they intend to retire and sell their summer camp where Peyton spent her youth. They intend to hold one last traditional Christmas celebration that the camp used to have in July. Peyton and her friends from camp gather for one last summer. But it also means that Peyton has to meet Thomas, who she was dating during the camp years and that relationship did not end in the best of ways.

Short review

This romantic story features several romances in Peyton's circle of friends and becomes an average movie overall.

Christmas Lovers Anonymous

Plot

When Katrina loses her job and is dumped by her boyfriend just before Christmas, she writes out her frustration in a script titled "Say No To Ho Ho Ho", even though Christmas is the best thing she knows. A year later, her book has become a success and she has become a bit of a celebrity. But it also means that, if she is to be faithful to the book, she cannot go 100% into the Christmas celebration as she usually does. At the same time, the reporter Hunter is assigned to write an article about the book and its author. Unaware of this, they both get in touch with each other on the website Christmas Lovers Anonymous".

Short review

This story doesn't convince. It's rather clumsily executed, and even though it's from 2021, you get the impression that it's older (and hasn't stood the test of time).

A Christmas Masquerade

Plot

Julianne is sent off to a masquerade ball by her boss and friend Lara, where Lara was originally supposed to go. To make matters more complicated, Michael, Lara's prospective client, shows up at the ball, and for various reasons, Julianne has to pretend to be Lara in order to secure the crucial assignment of handling Michael's PR as he attempts to become his (small) country's ambassador to the USA. The complications begin to unfold.

Short review

Another little kingdom no one has ever heard of. The story holds up like an average romantic movie (although Michael's transformation may not be entirely believable).

A Splash Of Love

Plot

The doctoral student Chloe, who studies marine mammals, gets an opportunity to spend a week in Washington State to study orcas in the Salish Sea. She also sees it as a chance to gain some distance and contemplate her relationship with Marcus, who is pursuing a doctorate in economics. Upon arrival, she meets Ben, who works as a guide and knows everything about the local orca pods. They bond over their shared interest in orcas and the beautiful natural surroundings. But what will happen with Marcus, and will Chloe be able to complete her study when a pod is missing?

Short review

The movie can be described as "mostly harmless." It delivers what it should without much drama.
