Plot

Joy gets dumped by her boyfriend and is persuaded by her friend to go to Vegas. Jack gets kicked out of his father's company by his dad. He and his friend also come up with the idea to go to Vegas. Both pairs happen to be double-booked in the same room. One thing leads to another, and after a wild night, Joy and Jack wake up married to each other. On top of that, Jack accidentally wins the jackpot with a coin he received from Joy. They try to get a divorce, but in court, they are given the task of living together for six months. Now, a battle ensues to get the other to leave and get their hands on the money.

Short review

At times, a somewhat tireing movie that hasn't entirely stood the test of time. Nevertheless, it still has its qualities.

Romantic Rewrite

Plot

Ivy is tasked with helping the author Reed improve his latest crime story to make it more believable in terms of the romantic aspect of the story. At the same time, she goes to attend her best friend's wedding. It turns out that Reed has also gone to the same place to get away and write. Ivy also finds out that her ex is going to the wedding with a new girl. She agrees with Reed to help him with his book if he agrees to pretend to be her date at the wedding.

Short review

The story is familiar, but this time they've managed it quite well. The complications work reasonably well, even though the ending might have benefited from a short epilogue.

Space Oddity

Plot

Alex informs his family that he's participating in a program to travel to Mars. The journey is intended to be one-way, and he will stay there as a colonist. The reactions vary among his family members, but Alex trains rigorously for the trip. He also seeks to obtain life insurance and, in doing so, meets Daisy, who has recently moved to town and works as an insurance agent at her uncle's insurance company.

Short review

A charming film with a gallery of different types of people. The story unfolds, and slowly you start to glimpse the background of the choices Alex has made. You also begin to suspect that the upcoming journey to Mars is surrounded by some question marks.

A Playful Love

Plot

Piper is a single mother who works as a sports commentator. At the same time as she receives an important assignment at work that could lead to new exciting opportunities, she is called to the school where her son has gotten into a fight with a girl. Piper and the girl's father, Erik, are tasked by the principal to help with the school's production of Romeo and Juliet so that their children won't be suspended.

Short review

Admittedly, it's a standard romantic movie that might be passable. But the whole concept of them being compelled by the principal to work for the school. The fact that the movie is produced by UP Faith & Family might not exactly make it better…

Wedding Season (2023)

Plot

Three of Trich's friends are getting married over three consecutive weekends. Additionally, she is tasked by her employer, a lifestyle magazine, to write an article about the three weddings. On top of it all, she faces pressure from her friends to bring a date to the weddings. Her salvation comes in the form of Ryan, the brother of one of her friends. They team up to navigate everything happening around the weddings, and there's quite a lot going on.

Short review

A well-crafted romantic film with strong performances from most of the cast.

The Right One

Plot

The author Sara is struggling with her next novel. When she's at an art gallery with a friend, she sees a man who stands out in the crowd. She encounters the same man in town several times, and each time, he behaves completely differently, as if he were different people. This fascinates Sara, and she starts a friendship with him, Godfrey, who challenges her outside her comfort zone. However, Godfrey's brother wants her to stay away, and she realizes that his shifting personalities have their reasons.

Short review

This movie breaks the pattern a bit and is at times refreshingly crazy (not just Godfrey). It's funny but also with serious undertones.

A snapshot of forever

Plot

Jessie has left her career as a photographer in Los Angeles after her relationship with a movie star crumbled. Now she works with her family at their vineyard, where her sister wants to expand the business with event planning, where Jessie will be the photographer. Now, an important wedding is being planned where they have the opportunity to show their parents that event planning is a good business for the vineyard. For the wedding (which is a multi-day event), the bride's brother, Shane, who is a famous movie star, will be attending.

Short review

A good romantic film that doesn't necessarily stand out but is decent when viewed as a romantic movie (with its typical flaws :-)). One might get a bit tired of Jessie's fondness for old film cameras, a complete indulgence for reactionary nerds who seem to consume romantic movies to forget that reality is evolving.

Hearts in the Game

Plot

Hazel is a successful communicator who manages celebrity public relations. When Diego, a baseball pro, faces a challenge following an incident that caused his team's loss, his manager hires Hazel to salvage Diego's career. The problem, however, is that Hazel and Diego hail from the same town and had a relationship that fell apart when Diego stood her up for their Prom Night date. Nevertheless, Hazel needs the job, and Diego, who has a lot of unresolved issues, needs help.

Short review

Perhaps a bit unexpectedly, I'd give it a top rating, but I think the story was well-crafted, and they've done a good job (for a romantic movie). Hazel gets to be strong and proficient in her job. They even treat us to a little epilogue, which I think should be in more romantic films. Special mention goes to Donia Kash, who plays Hazel's assistant, Jax.

Home for a Royal Heart

Plot

Erin works as a real estate agent in her small hometown, where the local marina is now threatened by sale and development. Into town comes Theo, who wants to buy suitable property in the city and assigns Erin to find the perfect accommodation. However, Erin struggles to determine what the perfect home is for Theo because he is very secretive about who he is and what he does. What Erin doesn't know is that Theo is the crown prince of a European country and is trying to escape his duties back home.

Short review

The movie works as a romantic film if one can overlook the entire flawed concept of princes from unknown European countries. It takes some shortcuts towards the end. Also, they could have let Theo's personal servant wear something other than a tuxedo throughout the entire film.

Beauty and the Billionaire

Plot

Addison is the office manager at a medical clinic, but now it's closing for the summer. At the same time, her brother breaks his leg. Her brother is a personal assistant to the very demanding billionaire, Justin, and doesn't want to risk losing his job because of his broken leg. Therefore, he convinces Addison to accompany him and Justin to St. Martin to help with the tasks he can't do because of his leg. Justin goes there to try to strike a deal with a reluctant CEO whom he has once bulldozed before. However, Addison questions Justin's tough exterior in a way that no one else has.

Short review

Better than expected. They've managed to put together a good story even though they could have made Justin's transformation a bit more explicit.

Mixed Baggage

Plot

Evie and Jake end up on the same flight. They start talking to each other and hit it off, but when they arrive, the disembarkation is a bit chaotic as Evie is in a hurry to catch a connecting flight, and they part ways abruptly. However, it turns out afterward that they accidentally switched bags (which look identical). It's a crisis for both of them because Evie has a crucial movie prop in her bag, and Jake has his best friend's engagement ring in his. Now, a series of complications arise in their efforts to swap bags and also to reconnect with each other because they really enjoyed the connection they had on the flight.

Short review

A well-made and good romantic movie where a lot of complications occur. It also offers two additional romances besides the main characters.

Make Me a Match

Plot

Vivi's dating app is a success, and her own relationship is a shining example of it. However, when her boyfriend breaks up with her, she starts to doubt and ponder how to make the app better. She gets in touch with a more traditional matchmaker, an Indian woman, and her son, Boom. Vivi wants to know how they can succeed better in relationships that also last. Vivi's company hires them to find her a life partner while simultaneously figuring out how to improve their app.

Short review

A good romantic movie with a slight Indian twist.

Sweet on You

Plot

Kate runs both a small hotel and a famous diner known for its pies. She has taken over after her mother, who, in turn, took it over after her mother. At the same time, Drew comes to town as he has inherited a lot of land in the area from his grandfather. He initially plans to quickly sell it, but while he's in town, he gains a new perspective on the town and life outside the big city. It turns out that Kate's businesses are located on the land he has inherited.

Short review

Maybe okay as a romantic movie, but the plot has been done better in other films on the same theme.

Rent-a-Groom

Plot

Kylee's grandmother wishes for her to find a man and get married. The grandmother is playing on her age and hopes to experience this before she passes away. When she becomes ill, Kylee becomes a bit desperate and hires an actor, Rob, to pretend to be her fiancé in front of her grandmother so she can experience this before she dies. However, it quickly spirals out of control, and the grandmother soon plans a wedding for the two.

Short review

The whole story feels a bit forced, and there's a lack of chemistry between Kylee and Rob, which also doesn't make the film particularly convincing.

All Aboard for Love

Plot

Alison is preparing for the handover of the marina her family has sold, and she's about to embark as a crew member on a transatlantic voyage. Joel, the son of the wealthy couple who own a large boat in the marina, arrives in town. The new owners of the marina start changing the business model, and things are going downhill. Alison struggles to ensure a smooth handover of a marina that is falling apart, all while becoming increasingly attracted to Joel. And in the midst of it all, her departure date for the Atlantic journey is getting closer.

Short review

The movie is reasonably well-executed and works as a romantic film. Kathryn Davis is good, at least in this genre.

Dream Wedding

Plot

Sisters Kate and Megan are at a wedding fair (Megan is getting married, but in a simple and unpretentious way), and Megan enters Kate into a contest to win a dream wedding. The problem is that Kate accidentally wins. Kate doesn't even have a boyfriend. But Megan insists that they should make the most of the perks that come with the prize and that Kate should pretend to have a boyfriend. They receive some help from wedding photographer Andy.

Short review

This movie has quite a few flaws, but it's partially redeemed by being somewhat humorous.

Just Jake

Plot

Jake's career as a country star is struggling, and the record label terminates their collaboration as he hasn't delivered new material. Jake's friend and manager takes him to their hometown to help him recharge and find his mojo again. In town, Amber is still there, the girlfriend Jake abandoned without explanation many years ago. Now they confront each other again, and Jake has reason to reflect on his life choices.

Short review

Decent, but they could have done more with the unresolved conflict between Jake and Amber.

Key to Love

Plot

Samantha runs a bookstore and is tasked by an estate to sell the books from a private library. When they go to collect the books, they meet Josh, who has just inherited his grandfather's estate and is trying to get a sense of what it's all about. He's primarily searching for some letters mentioned in the will but is having trouble locating them. Soon, Samantha also becomes involved in the search. The whole thing is hindered by the law firm that has been handling the grandfather's affairs and is determined to keep things that way.

Short review

Perhaps not entirely that great, but the movie is uplifted by the villains getting thoroughly defeated.

Love Again

Plot

Mira's boyfriend dies in an accident. Two years later, she is still living in the sorrow of her loss. From an acquaintance who has also lost their loved one, she receives the advice to talk to her beloved about her daily life and her longing. She starts texting her boyfriend's old number about her feelings as a form of therapy. However, the number has been reassigned, and Rob has received it as his work phone. He is grappling with his own emotions after being left by his girlfriend a week before the wedding. He is fascinated by Mira's messages and decides to find out who she is.

Short review

A very good film that is well-crafted around the theme of coming back after a loss. A notable role is played by Céline Dion, portraying herself. A somewhat surprising approach.

Love in Zion National: A National Park Romance

Plot

Laura works as a curator at a museum that receives a donation of three old wedding vases with origins from the Indian reservation in Zion National Park. However, the donation is contested by a heir. Laura, who wants the vases to be returned to the Indians, suspects that there is a fourth vase, and finding it would help the museum in the legal battle against the heir. She goes to the national park to try to locate the fourth vase. In the park, she meets Adam, who works there but also belongs to the original Indian tribe.

Short review

No, neither the plot nor the romance convinces.

Just Add Love

Plot

April is in the process of writing a cookbook with healthy recipes, but when the test groups evaluate them, nothing seems to work. She has four weeks to rewrite the book. To gain inspiration, she travels to her uncle's place in Italy. There, she tries a culinary guided tour led by Roberto. At the same time, she struggles to make her recipes both healthy and delicious. Soon, Roberto turns out to be less of a Roberto and more of a Rob, an American trying to make it as a chef in Italy.

Short review

Relatively standard romantic film with plenty of scenic shots from Italy (the tourist board rejoices).

Love Improvement

Plot

Interior designer Olivia takes time off to go home and help her dad renovate the family hotel's restaurant. When she arrives, it turns out her dad has already hired a celebrity chef, Dax, to boost the place's popularity. Olivia and Dax have very different opinions on both how the restaurant should be decorated and what food should be served.

Short review

Well, it holds up a bit better than most. Just the right amount of friction, good on the romance front (more than one), and they don't rush things at the end but give it plenty of room.

My Boss' Wedding

Plot

Overambitious Nicole is tasked by her boss with planning her wedding. If she does well, it could lead to a promotion. The catch, however, is that she must do it together with the groom's nephew, Michael. The soon-to-be-wed couple is convinced that Nicole's organizational skills and Michael's romantic disposition will complement each other and create a perfect wedding. However, their styles are very different, and the collaboration isn't going so smoothly.

Short review

A good version of the story 'forced to collaborate to fix a wedding.' The complications work, and it turns into a good romantic movie.

Long Shot

Plot

When the newspaper Fred works for is acquired by a media mogul, he resigns. To cheer him up, his friend takes him to an event where it turns out that the United States Secretary of State, Charlotte, is also present. They were neighbors when they were young, and she used to babysit him. They reconnect quickly, and when Charlotte needs a speechwriter in her campaign to become the next President of the United States, she wants Fred because she likes what he has written as a reporter.

Short review

The movie has a somewhat childish 'humor,' but it's not without its charm. It also deviates from the usual romantic film patterns as the plot doesn't follow any of the common templates.

Love Under The Rainbow

Jack moves to town with his daughter, who is obsessed with rainbows. His daughter becomes a student at the new school where she gets Lucy as teacher. Jack and Lucy encounter each other in various situations, and Lucy begins to introduce him to the town and also to the private garden where her parents got married and where you can sometimes see the rare moonbow.

Short review

A fairly standard romantic movie, but the rainbow theme becomes a bit ridiculous. It's worst when they arrive at a field filled with rainbows, and it's not even raining.

Sun Moon

Plot

Kelsey has been left at the altar by her intended spouse. To get away from the town and everyone who pities her, she takes a job as an English teacher in Taiwan. It becomes a significant adjustment with many challenges due to the language barrier and cultural differences. However, she receives some assistance from 'Horace,' who is also a teacher at the school. When the semester comes to an end, Kelsey is torn between her ill mother and sister back home and her new life with her students and Horace in Taiwan.

Short review

A good romantic movie that also deals with cultural differences and the challenges of different languages. It probably would have received the highest rating but is slightly brought down by the Christian theme and the fact that they are doing christian missionary work in a Buddhist country. The movie includes many good scenes, but the best one is Kelsey's response to her ex-fiancé at the end of the film.

Take Care

Plot

Frannie has been in a car accident and must now fend for herself in her apartment with a broken arm and a broken leg. Her sister and friends are not good at helping. She turns to her ex-boyfriend, Devon, who is now in a new relationship. When they were together, Frannie took care of Devon when he was sick for two years. Now, Frannie feels that Devon owes her.

Short review

No, this one doesn't hold up in several ways. Firstly, Devon is more than a bit helpless. Secondly, the whole concept of the old boyfriend is stale.

Zoey 102

Plot

One of Zoe's best friends is getting married, and Zoe is going to be a bridesmaid. She has distanced herself from most of her successful friends and buried herself in her job as a reality TV producer. When she hears that her high school boyfriend will be there with his new girlfriend, Zoe hires an actor to be her boyfriend at the wedding. Additionally, she tries to juggle her job and the wedding at the same time.

Short review

Maybe not the highest-quality movie, but it's occasionally quite funny in a somewhat crazy way. An added bonus is that it doesn't follow the formula (SPOILER ALERT: she doesn't fall for the hired boyfriend). The movie is actually a sequel to the TV series Zoey 101 and the film Zoey 101: Spring Break-Up.

A Snow White Christmas

Plot

Blanca's father has passed away, and at Christmas, his inheritance is to be divided between Blanca and her stepmother. However, the stepmother harbors plans to take it all for herself. She hires a hypnotist who makes Blanca forget everything and dumps her in another city. A determined architect who has fallen for Blanca, though, finds her, and the stepmother sends Hunter, an artist working with the architect, to prevent Blanca from regaining her memory.

Short review

A pretty lousy production painted with broad, colorful brushes. It's not entirely worthless (sometimes it has its moments, otherwise it would just be a 2), but most of it feels quite forced. The fairy tale theme doesn't work, even though the movie alludes to both Snow White and Little Red Riding Hood. It's just that Blanca is named Snow and the guy is named Hunter.

When Love Blooms

Plot

Ann goes home to help her dad, who has broken his arm. It turns out that her dad was supposed to participate in a flower arranging competition with his new friend Aaron, the town's florist. Now, he convinces Ann to take his place, and Aaron undertakes to quickly teach Ann how to arrange flower displays. It becomes two hectic weeks leading up to the competition.

Short review

A fairly good romantic movie (despite it being a UP Faith & Family) where Ann has to wrestle with her fear of making decisions and daring to step forward.

What's Love Got to Do with It?

Plot

Zoe makes documentary films, and when she hears that her friend and neighbor Kazim is entering into an arranged marriage with a bride he has never met, chosen by his parents, she gets the idea to make a film about it. She persuades Kazim and his family to let her make the film. The work becomes challenging as Zoe simultaneously grapples with her own life and the expectations from her mother that she should find someone and settle down.

Short review

A well-made film that tackles the issue of arranged marriages (albeit with a predictable outcome). It's British, which makes it somewhat different from the crowd. Emma Thompson plays Zoe's slightly enthusiastic mother (at first, I hardly recognized her). It becomes a very good romantic movie.

Happiness for Beginners

Plot

Helen's divorce has finally gone through, and now she wants to empower herself by participating in a wilderness survival course. However, she is taken aback when she finds out that her younger brother's best friend, Jake, is also attending the same course. The participants embark on a hiking journey and are constantly challenged by the course leader. Helen tries to keep her distance from Jake because she genuinely wants to prove herself on her own. A crisis arises when one of the participants gets injured, and Helen takes charge of the situation.

Short review

A good romantic movie with some serious undertones. While they go through the course, they also have to deal with personal challenges that were lurking beneath the surface.

My Best Friend's Christmas

Plot

Ashley runs an events business together with her friend Liam. When she hears that her high school sweetheart is back in their hometown, she goes there early for Christmas in the hope of rekindling their relationship. Upon arrival, she soon realizes that he is there with his new girlfriend and they want to host an event to inaugurate his new inn. To extricate herself from an awkward situation, Ashley calls on Liam to help with the event but also to pretend to be her boyfriend.

Short review

The movie is okay as a romantic film, and Ashley really messes things up for herself with her focus on the wrong man.

Remember Yesterday

Plot

Jenny stayed behind in her hometown when her boyfriend, John, went to Hollywood to pursue a career. Jenny married someone else but has just divorced her alcoholic husband. She now runs a diner and has abandoned all the dreams she had in her youth. Suddenly, John reappears. He is now a successful director and is going to shoot a movie in his small hometown. Old feelings resurface, and Jenny's life is turned upside down.

Short review

A slightly more serious tone in this romantic movie, but they don't quite succeed. It's a bit 'all over the place' with flashbacks, conflicts, drinking, and romance. The final scene is strange, as Jenny's reaction hardly becomes credible.

The Christmas Challenge

Plot

Laura has been running a podcast for a long time with the help of her friend and fellow producer, Paul. The podcast's theme is how women can lead an independent life without depending on a man. Now, they need to freshen up the concept as there's a chance that a larger company wants to broadcast their podcast. Leading up to Christmas, they receive a challenge from some anonymous listeners to perform a Christmas activity every day until Christmas. The idea is for them to collaborate, but Laura is determined to stay true to the podcast's theme and be self-sufficient.

Short review

This might have deserved a lower rating, Up Faith & Family being a warning sign in itself, as the movie's message is really that a woman can't manage her life alone and needs a man. Let it be that the man is very domestic. It's not entirely worthless and could perhaps have received a four if it weren't for the fact that they also botched the ending with a deliberate voiceover narrating what happened instead of some good final scenes.

The Single's Guidebook

Plot

Molly is a writer with a mission to promote various products in her articles. Now, the company she works for is offering one of the part-timers a chance at a full-time position. Her boss assigns her the task of creating posts about her new life as a single person, something she isn't keen on, but the opportunity for the job makes it a must. After she writes a post about a singles activity in which her neighbor, Jackson, was involved, her boss also wants her to include him in the series where he helps her with the single life, and she is to assist him in finding a girlfriend.

Short review

A good romantic movie with a theme somewhat against commercialism. Perhaps not perfectly crafted, but it works.

The Princess and the Bodyguard

Plot

Lexi has lived in New York for 15 years, where she makes a living as an artist/sculptor, although she's actually a princess in a small European country. Now, her parents are visiting and tell her that she has two weeks to decide whether she should return to her life as a princess or not. She is also expected to meet men whom her parents think could be suitable dates for the ball where she will announce her decision. At the same time, she begins to be pursued by a young man. It soon becomes clear that he is a bodyguard named Noah, whom her parents have hired to protect Lexi from potential paparazzi, etc.

Short review

For a movie on the theme of heir to the throne in an unknown European country, it holds up reasonably well (if you can buy into the concept).

The Wedding Arrangement

Plot

Violet gave up her biology studies to take over her grandmother's flower shop. Her best friend is trying to make it as a wedding planner, and now a celebrity wedding has come up, and she wants Violet to be the floral arranger for the wedding. It's a challenge because the wedding couple can be quite demanding. When Violet is about to buy flowers for the wedding, her favorite supplier has a substitute in the form of his nephew, Jack, who is in the process of transitioning from a nature photographer to a lawyer under his girlfriend's influence.

Short review

A decent, fairly average romantic movie about following your dreams (and finding love).

A Lifelong Love

Plot

Annika writes poetry and wants to publish her first book. When she is at the publishing house to pitch her book idea, she meets Ryan, whom she dated during high school. He is there to pitch his idea for a book featuring his photography. The publishing house is skeptical about both ideas, but when Annika mentions that she's helping her grandfather search for his long-lost love from his youth, the publishing house suggests that they collaborate on a book about the search, combining Annika's poetry and Ryan's photos. Both of them are skeptical, but they realize that it might be their only chance to publish a book.

Short review

The plot feels a bit watered down, and it doesn't quite pick up.

A Royal Christmas Crush

Plot

Ava is contacted by her uncle, who wants her to come and help him complete an ice hotel that is built every year for the royal family in the unknown little country in Northern Europe. She takes on the task and will meet the prince, Henry, who is under pressure from his parents and the court to find a suitable date to take to the annual ball at the ice hotel. It is not appreciated that Henry soon becomes interested in Ava.

Short review

I'm not exactly sure where they've placed this unfamiliar country in Northern Europe. The movie feels somewhat inconsistent and a bit too polished.

Picture Perfect Romance

Plot

Zoe quit as a wedding photographer when her fiancé left her just before their planned wedding. Now, she photographs pets instead and enjoys it. However, when her friend is getting married, she is persuaded to step in as the photographer anyway. But she only arrives at the wedding festivities when she realizes that, despite being promised otherwise, her ex is there with his new girlfriend. She is partially saved by Clark, one of the wedding guests, who pretends to be her boyfriend so that Zoe doesn't have to face her ex alone.

Short review

A better version of the 'pretend-to-be-together' theme. They manage to add some good twists.

Quarantine for Two

Plot

Kenzie works as a nurse and has to be careful with her personal isolation during the pandemic. Chase works with Kenzie's brother, who encourages him to contact Kenzie because he thinks they would like each other. By mistake, Chase contacts Kenzie, and they start a friendship over the phone and Teams. Since everyone is isolated, they have to get creative in finding ways to get to know each other better. Against all odds, it all develops.

Short review

A movie that offers much more than I expected, and it becomes a good portrayal of how romance can grow despite challenges.

Riverfront Romance

Plot

Cara has been a travel writer for the past few years, but now she receives an advance to write her first book. She uses the advance to buy her dream house in her old hometown. She barely moves in before she discovers they are planning to build a power dam right outside her property line. The project is led by Riley, and he and Cara now find themselves in conflict as Cara tries to stop the project.

Short review

No, this movie doesn't make it. There isn't any effort to make anything seem genuine or plausible.

The Happy Camper

Plot

Dillon and her boyfriend work together at an app development company, where Dillon does the development while her boyfriend focuses on running the business. When the company hits a rough patch, Dillon's boyfriend convinces her to take some time off while he looks for new investors. She goes to visit her grandfather in Colorado, where her mother, with whom she has a strained relationship, also lives. While there, she discovers an old camper in her grandfather's barn and decides to refurbish it. Reluctantly, she also accepts help from Jordan, who runs the local hardware store.

Short review

Despite the warning sign of UP Faith & Family as the production company, the movie is reasonably good. A relatively standard romantic film.

Welcome to Valentine

Plot

Olivia struggles to be recognized as an artist, but it's tough. After a falling out with one of New York's major gallery owners, she changes her plans and wants to go home to Valentine for Valentine's Day. Her best friend's cousin, George, is going to drive his grandfather's old 50s car from New York to Los Angeles and is persuaded by his cousin to give Olivia a ride to Valentine on the way there. It doesn't go entirely smoothly, and once they arrive in Valentine, the car breaks down, leaving George stranded while it's being fixed.

Short review

She has even created a full-body sculpture of a perfect man. One evening, her friend Doris visits and tells her about the legend of golems, clay figures that come to life. The next day, when Rachel arrives at the studio, the sculpture has come to life and truly embodies everything she wished for. However, at the same time, she meets David, who is trying to make it as a stand-up comedian, and he is far from perfect, but he likes her.

The catch is that she, as a relationship advisor, has been without a boyfriend for a while but kept it a secret. She meets Ted and convinces him to play her boyfriend in exchange for her help in winning back his girlfriend.

Maybe not a solid 4, but it still holds up in some way. It's somewhat funny at times.

A Christmas Wish in Hudson

A Royal in Paradise

Olivia struggles with inspiration for her next book. She had planned to go on vacation with her boyfriend to a tropical island, but he broke up instead. Eventually, she's persuaded by her best friend to go with her instead and hopefully find inspiration for her writing once again. At the same time, Prince Alexander travels to the same island to escape his duties for a while. When Olivia arrives, it turns out that her ex-boyfriend is also there with his new girlfriend. This becomes one of the reasons she seeks out Alexander's company. Furthermore, he conceals the fact that he is a prince.

Yet another prince in an unknown country. This time, though, it's okay. I can't quite explain why it got up to a 5, but it had some sort of charm.

Scarlet goes home to her father's house with her son for Christmas. There, she meets Josh, who is the town's new doctor. She is torn between her life in New York and the quieter life in her hometown.

When it's Up Faith & Family that has released the movie, alarm bells immediately goes off, and this time it was accurate again. Cheaply and poorly executed, and nothing that rings authentic.

Joy & Hope

Joy and Hope are two sisters who work on their father's farm. Also working on the farm is Gabe, who has been secretly in love with Hope for a long time. One day, the author Ethan shows up at the farm, where he has traveled to try to get rid of his writer's block.

If one is to make this kind of film (or any film, for that matter), one should have a sense of empathy and timing. This film lacks both.

Puppy love for Christmas

Annie works as an aid worker around the world. After her recent mission, she goes home to her family for a while in Vermont. She is fully focused on her next assignment, even though her family wants her to stay with them for a while. While she's there, she gets involved with her old schoolmate, Dylan, who is now a veterinarian in town, in finding new homes for some homeless animals that have ended up with Dylan.

A decent romantic movie that doesn't exactly stand out from the crowd.

Your Place or Mine

Plot

Debbie and Peter have been best friends ever since a hot night together in their youth. Despite living on opposite sides of the USA, they keep in touch almost daily over the phone. When Debbie needs to go to New York for work, Peter goes to LA to look after her teenage son when she can't find a babysitter. It becomes a challenge for Peter to transition from his playboy lifestyle in NY to managing a teenager. Debbie also gets to experience life beyond her teaching job and motherhood. But it also makes them reflect on the strong bond they have between them.

A good and occasionally funny film that maintains a slightly higher quality, making it more of a 'Hollywood' production.

The owners of the hotel where he checks in calls in Mandy to try to help Colin with his depression. Mandy comes in as a breath of fresh air, but when things start to improve, suddenly Colin's ex shows up, wanting to patch up their relationship.

A funny film with quirky characters. Better than I expected. A bit rough around the edges compared to a standard romantic movie, but it turns out well.

Love On The Reef

Isla is a marine biologist and conducts research on the local reef. As the new dive master, she gets Liam, whom she initially sees as a careless character. They are now forced to work together and soon unite in their determination to save the local reef.

No, this movie isn't convincing in any way.

A Pinch of Portugal

Anna is the assistant chef in a cooking show. When the show's star hesitates to sign a new contract while the team has traveled to Portugal to start filming the next season, Anna steps in and hosts several segments while waiting for things to resolve. She does well, and the team begins to see what Anna could bring to the program. Suddenly, the show's host appears, but Anna unexpectedly receives support from Russ, the team's photographer whom she had previously been in a relationship with.

It's more about Anna than the romance. But the movie holds up.

The Wedding Wish

Jenny has her sights set on getting married on her 35th birthday. All preparations are in place; she even books an old monastery for the event. The only problem is that she doesn't have a boyfriend. Determinedly, she plans for it to work out, and together with the publisher she works for as an illustrator and her assistant, she sets out on a quest. However, it becomes complicated when she is also forced to work with Tyler, who writes children's books, as her publisher believes her illustrations could be what his books need. Jenny, on the other hand, finds Tyler to be arrogant and annoying.

Well, it could have been better. It doesn't convince, even though the storyline feels fresh and a bit different.

When Love Springs

Rory travels with her family to the B&B where her parents got married for them to renew their vows. When Rory's ex shows up with his new girlfriend at the same B&B, Rory panics and pretends to be in a relationship with Noah, who runs the place. Now, she forces Noah to pretend they're together, and in return, she offers to help Noah market the place, which really needs some fixing up.

No, it becomes a bit overacted, especially when Rory is gripped by panic and has to fake a relationship. Too bad, otherwise the movie might have been better.

A Country Romance

Sara is busy with her marketing job but takes a few days off to go home and help her dad (who is away) with the sale of the family vineyard. Once there, she realizes that the grapes are ripe and need to be harvested. She knows nothing about managing a vineyard but meets Gabe, who lives with his brother's family in the neighboring farm. They offer to help Sara save the harvest.

This movie is too obvious. It's as if they didn't want to leave anything for the audience to miss, and everything has to be said. Even to the extent that the main characters walk around talking to themselves.

The Office Mix-Up

Lacy works both at her friend's jewelry store and as a night guard at a marketing company while she contemplates what to do with her life. One day, she forgets her sketchbook at her night job, and due to a misunderstanding, she gets hired as a designer at the marketing company, mistakenly identified as someone else. She gets drawn into the work of winning a new client for the company by her new boss, Greg. How long will it take for them to discover their mistake?

Not perfectly crafted, but it holds up as a romantic movie.

Wait with Me

Kate writes explicit romantic novels. Now she's facing writer's block but has found a place where her writing flows. She sits in the waiting room of an auto repair shop (where there's coffee, etc.). But how can she sit there every day without arousing suspicion? Miles, who works at the shop, begins to suspect something, but they become friends in the process, and he even provides her with inspiration for her writing.

This was better than I expected and actually holds up better than what the cover suggests. And this is in spite of Andrew Biernat.

The Wedding Cottage

Vanessa is promoting her wedding planning business and has a contest where the winners receive a wedding arrangement. The winners want their wedding to take place at a location listed in Vanessa's guidebook for various wedding venues. However, when Vanessa arrives there to start organizing, it turns out that they no longer host weddings, but Evan, who owns the place, now lives there and struggles with his sketchbook as an artist. Vanessa, however, doesn't give up and tries everything to convince Evan to let her arrange the wedding there.

A predictable story, but shouldn't romantic movies be that way (usually, at least)? It works as a good romantic movie.

A Winning Team

A fairly well-constructed film that is worth watching if you're prepared to buy into the idea that board games have such significance.

Love in the Maldives

Rey is a travel writer who specializes in adventurous solo journeys. Now, her editor wants her to do a different type of feature and sends her to the Maldives to a well-organized resort where people go to relax. It's a challenge for Rey. There, she meets Jared, one of the leaders at the resort, who tries to help her unwind.

Rey is supposed to be an experienced adventurer, but when she steps into the few square meters of 'jungle' on the island, she acts like a city girl who has never been beyond the suburbs. This movie was probably made mostly to promote the hotel it was filmed at.

Married by Mistake

Friends Riley and Nate wake up in a hotel room in Vegas and realize they got married while intoxicated the night before, celebrating their last day of university. Nate is on his way home to work in the family business, while Riley's new job turns out to have disappeared. While she ponders what to do next and ensures that the divorce goes through, Nate offers her the opportunity to come and work at their company. With no better options, Riley goes along with it. To make it easier for her to get the job, Nate publicly announces that they are married. A challenge arises when Riley later meets Nate's brother Rhys.

For a romantic movie with complications, they've managed it quite well.

Prom Pact

Mandy is in her final year of high school and has her sights set on Harvard. However, she ends up on the waitlist and needs a recommendation to get in. She and her best friend Ben hatch a plan: she will become friends with the school's most popular guy, Graham, a basketball star who needs help with his studies, in order to secure a recommendation from his father, who is a senator. It's not entirely easy when you belong to the nerds at school.

A high school movie, but perhaps a bit better than average. Maybe it's more of a romantic film after all.

Royal Rendezvous

Cat runs a street kitchen and plans to release a cookbook. Suddenly, she receives an invitation to travel to Ireland and cook at a royal banquet organized by a lord. When she arrives there, it turns out that the son of the estate has dined at her street kitchen and has become enamored with her. Now, she needs to handle him while also dealing with the family's butler, Rory, who is very skeptical of her ability to handle a royal banquet.

More royals in Europe even though it's unclear who the king is. And another film that's going to poke fun at the upper class and show that they need to relax. It doesn't work.

The Blessing Bracelet

After the divorce, Dawn is going through a tough time, being a single mother to her son and dealing with the aftermath of her ex-husband's bad investments. She finds one of her old bracelets she used to make during school with beads that are meant to remind you of the blessings in your life. She meets Ben, and slowly her life starts to turn around. However, she doesn't know that Ben works at the bank that is pursuing her for her debts…

It could have been better if the message that everything will work out just by believing in God wasn't pushed so hard. The movie also takes some shortcuts.

A Tourist's Guide to Love

When Amanda's boyfriend breaks up with her, she decides to go and evaluate a local travel agency in Vietnam that her company is considering acquiring. She travels there incognito to conduct a fair assessment. She is greeted by Sinh, who is involved in running the family business. Amanda is initially very sceptical about how the business operates but gradually comes to appreciate the charm of the company, Vietnam, and also Sinh.

A good romantic movie, for once, largely set in Vietnam.

He convinces his father to allow him to give it a try in their old hometown. Once there, he discovers that the business he intends to help, 'Lather and Luxury,' is run by his former girlfriend. She's not interested in his help, but her mother convinces her that the assistance is needed as the company isn't doing so well.

As a romantic movie, this story holds up even though thoughts drift to the scent inside Lush.

Finding Love in Big Sky, Montana

Paisley tries to keep her grandfather's ranch alive, but it's been a struggle. Then her former boyfriend, Josh, shows up. He's been suspended from his job as a marketing manager and has come home to recover. He offers to help Paisley get the farm in order.

A Vineyard Romance

Sam works as a writer in Seattle, and now she gets the opportunity to do a real cover story. Celebrity blogger Heather is getting married at a vineyard in Sam's hometown. When she arrives there, she discovers that the groom is Liam, whom she dated during high school. She tries to back out of the assignment, but it's too late. Now, she's forced to be part of the wedding preparations and tries to remain professional in the situation. However, it's challenging since she and Liam have unresolved feelings to handle.

It turns out to be a good movie with classic misunderstandings and a predictable ending.

A Very Country Christmas

The challenge is that her family isn't quite as portrayed in her podcasts, and to make matters more complicated, Devon, the marketing manager for her potential sponsor, shows up on-site for the broadcasts. Things don't go well, but Christina and Devon find themselves trapped in a 'Groundhog Day' loop, reliving the same Christmas Eve over and over again…

This one was unexpectedly good. It gets a bit crazy, and the unusual thing is that there are two people stuck in the 'Groundhog Day' loop, which makes the romance itself a bit more believable (if one can speak of credibility in this type of scenario).

2nd Chance for Christmas

Chance has become a truly insufferable diva. She is visited by three ghosts before Christmas: the past, the present, and the future ghosts, who show her the consequences of her behaviour.

Short review

A Scrooge rip-off that is really bad. Painted with broad and cheap brushes, this story doesn't captivate. The fact that Chance's mother appears to be as old as her (there is only a 13-year age difference between the actors) is a sign in itself.

The Christmas Retreat

Plot

Kim's boyfriend breaks up with her right before Christmas. That's when Kim's mother decides that she and Kim should go to a Christmas holiday retreat. Kim tries to use the stay to prove to her ex-boyfriend that she indeed has another side besides just working. At the inn, guests gather to celebrate Christmas traditions. One of the guests is Mark, who has just lost his job and has been convinced by his sister, who runs the inn, to come. Both he and Kim are driven by a competitive spirit, and they end up competing in all the Christmas challenges.

The movie doesn't exactly stand out, but it delivers a decent romantic plot.

A Paris Proposal

Anna and Sebastian work for the same marketing company and have very different ideas about how to work. Reluctantly, they are sent to Paris to secure an important account. Anna has a history in Paris through a previous engagement, and Sebastian's family is from there, but he doesn't have a good relationship with them. During their first meeting with the client, there is a misunderstanding, and they are believed to be married. Now, they have to pretend to be married to secure the account. It's not always so easy.

One of the better 'we have to pretend to be a couple' movies.

Love and Penguins

Plot

Tilly finally gets the opportunity to gain some field experience when she is sent to Australia to see if they can save a penguin sanctuary facing financial problems. She is accompanied by her sister, who is quite tired of her life as a housewife. On-site, she works on getting the local zoologist, Fletcher, to engage in activities to raise funds for the sanctuary.

Short review

Maybe not a five, really, but the movie is elevated partly by an enthusiastic Tammin Sursok and also by the supporting role, played by Madeleine West, who really needs a break from housewife life. Thanks to this, the movie becomes entertaining even though it's not a masterpiece.

Loving Christmas

Plot

Ashley is the assistant manager at a local department store, and many believe she will take over when the owner retires. She also has a passion for Christmas and has become known as 'The Christmas Queen' in the small town. Suddenly, Ben appears, the son of the store's owner, who lived with his mother during his upbringing. He is now a trained economist from the big city, and father and son want to reconnect, having had little contact during his childhood. Ben brings in new ideas for the department store, and Ashley feels challenged.

A film that feels a bit on the cheap side, meaning it's not very high-budget. There are some gaps in the plot, as I see it.

My Favorite Christmas Tree

Plot

Kyla works as a historian. Before Christmas, she changes her vacation plans for herself and her sister. Instead of heading to southern latitudes, they go to Conifer, Colorado. Kyla has a research assignment related to the background of a Christmas tree farm there. At the same time, she is delving into her own family's history, as much is unknown about her mother's side of the family. In Conifer, she is confronted with Cody, who is the one running the Christmas tree farm after his father injured his back.

An average romantic movie that still holds up, although there are some loose ends at the end.

One December Night

Plot

Mike and Steve were a successful duo, but they split up many years ago. Now they need to reunite for various reasons. Quinn, who is a music producer but also Mike's daughter, is sent to her hometown to try to ensure that the reunion takes place. Jason, who is Steve's son and also his manager, is in town with the same mission. They must work together to succeed in getting their fathers to resume their collaboration and resolve numerous unresolved conflicts and challenges.

Short review

A good movie where the various reasons for both conflicts and the reasons why they both need to reunite slowly emerge, while the romance blossoms between their children.

How to Find Forever

Marley is planning engagements, and now one of her friends' boyfriends wants her to plan theirs. The perfect location would be an apple farm where her friend spent a lot of time in her youth. It's now owned by Curtis, and he's not keen on having the engagement there right in the middle of the harvest season. Marley has to work hard to convince him.

At Midnight

Sophie is a successful film actress who discovers that her co-star and boyfriend is cheating on her. She is forced to continue the shooting nevertheless. At the hotels where they stay, Alejandro works, content with his bachelor life. Now, he must ensure that Sophie has a pleasant stay at the hotel and does everything he can to keep Sophie happy despite the circumstances.

Short review

A successful and quite funny movie (significantly better than the poster suggests). Actually, a genuine romcom. A plus for the fact that Spanish is actually spoken alongside English.

A Very British Christmas

Plot

Singer Jessica's flight to the concert in Vienna gets canceled, and she finds herself stranded in a small village in Yorkshire. The only place with a room to rent is a small B&B with no guests. It's run by Andrew, with the help of his mother and his little daughter. Jessica discovers that she enjoys the village, even though she should really make her way to the next concert. She becomes involved in saving their B&B, which is threatened by a mining company takeover.

Short review

It stands out slightly from the crowd, perhaps because it's more British than American. I reacted a bit to what I perceived as the age difference between the actors, but when I looked them up, it turned out that there's actually only a two-year age gap between them.

Parked for Love

Plot

Jackie is a very busy travel writer with little time for herself. Her best friend persuades her to take a break and join her on a trip to a nature park. They rent a massive camper van and set off. In the nature park, they meet Sean, who runs the park. It has problems and could use some funding. The camper van breaks down, and Jackie's friend has to go back home, leaving the stressed Jackie behind at the park with the van. Soon, she becomes reluctantly involved in the park's opportunities (and with Sean).

Short review

An average romantic story in a park setting. It delivers what it's supposed to but doesn't really stand out.

The Gift of Peace

Plot

Traci mourns her husband, whom she used to paint with, but now she has lost her inspiration to paint. Nevertheless, she and her friend and agent have signed her up for the annual Christmas exhibition. Traci is recommended by her friend to join a support group for the grieving at the local church. The group is led by Michael. Through the group, Traci gains new strength, and she also encourages Michael to open up about his grief.

A reasonably good romantic movie slightly brought down by the fact that they can't have a support group without prayers and church. However, a plus point is that it ends in a budding and cautious romance rather than a kiss.

The Dog Lover's Guide to Dating

Simon tries to date Chloe, but her dog, also named Simon, constantly gets in the way. When he meets Alex, who trains dogs, he gets the idea to hire her to learn how to handle dogs so he can get closer to Chloe. Reluctantly, Alex eventually agrees to help when Simon gets involved with the dog center and it's needs for support.

A moderately good romantic story where the main characters find themselves having to chose.

Record Breaking Christmas

Plot

Leah works as an inspector for new record attempts. Now she is sent to a small town determined to break many records before Christmas. The town tries and tries, but all the time Leah has to reject one attempt after another. She is accompanied by the town's doctor, Devan.

Short review

A middle-of-the-road version. Not terrible but not good either. The concept of records doesn't work either.
